The room was quiet again.
Too quiet.
Broken glass on the floor.
Cold air coming from the shattered window.
And them.
Still standing too close.
Amina didn't move.
Her heart was still racing from everything that just happened.
From fear…
Or from him.
She looked at Adam.
Really looked at him this time.
Tired eyes.
Tension in his face.
Breathing not as calm as before.
"You're hurt…" she said softly.
He shook his head.
"It's nothing."
"That didn't look like nothing."
She stepped closer.
Before he could stop her—
She touched his arm.
Gently.
He froze.
"It's bleeding…"
Her voice dropped.
"Sit."
"I said I'm fine."
"And I said sit."
For a second—
He looked surprised.
Then…
He actually listened.
He sat down.
Amina went to get something to clean the wound.
Her hands were still shaking.
But she tried to stay calm.
"You almost died…" she whispered.
Adam looked at her.
"So did you."
She didn't answer.
She came back and sat in front of him.
Close.
Very close.
She started cleaning the blood carefully.
Her fingers soft.
Slow.
Adam didn't move.
Didn't say anything.
He was just watching her.
"Amina…"
She looked up.
"Yes?"
"Why are you doing this?"
She frowned.
"What kind of question is that?"
"You don't even remember me."
She stopped for a second.
Then continued.
"Maybe not…"
Her voice softer now.
"But I feel something."
Silence.
Adam's eyes didn't leave hers.
"What do you feel?"
She hesitated.
Then said—
"Like… you matter to me."
That hit him.
Harder than anything before.
"You shouldn't," he said quietly.
"Why?"
"Because I'm the reason you're in this mess."
She shook her head.
"No."
"You don't know the full story."
"Then tell me."
Silence.
Long.
Heavy.
Amina looked at him.
"I'm tired of not knowing."
Adam closed his eyes for a second.
Then opened them.
And this time—
He didn't hold back.
"You were investigating something."
Amina's heart started beating faster.
"Investigating… what?"
"An organization."
Her breath stopped.
"What kind of organization?"
"Dangerous."
"That again…"
"This time I'm serious."
She stared at him.
"And you were helping me?"
He nodded slowly.
"At first."
"At first…?"
His expression changed.
More serious.
"I wasn't supposed to help you."
Amina felt something break inside.
"What do you mean?"
"I was sent to watch you."
Silence.
Her mind went blank.
"Watch me…?"
"Yes."
"By who?"
He didn't answer directly.
"The same people who want you now."
Her eyes widened.
"So you were with them?!"
"Yes."
The answer was clear.
No hesitation.
Amina stood up suddenly.
"You lied to me!"
"I didn't lie—"
"You hid the truth!"
Her voice broke.
"You said you were helping me!"
"I am helping you!"
"After what?!"
Tears filled her eyes.
"After you betrayed me?!"
Silence.
Adam didn't move.
Didn't defend himself.
Because…
She wasn't wrong.
"I was supposed to stop you," he said quietly.
"From what?!"
"From getting too close."
Amina laughed painfully.
"Too late for that…"
"Yes."
Silence.
Then—
"I changed my mind."
She looked at him.
"Why?"
His voice lowered.
"Because of you."
That again.
Those words again.
But this time—
They hurt.
More than before.
"You expect me to believe that?" she whispered.
"I don't expect anything."
"Then what do you want from me?!"
Adam stood up slowly.
"I want you to stay alive."
She shook her head.
"No… that's not enough."
Her voice softer now.
"Not anymore."
Silence.
They were close again.
Tension.
Emotion.
Everything mixed.
"You broke my trust…" she said quietly.
"You don't even remember trusting me."
"But I feel it."
That stopped him.
"I feel like I trusted you before…"
Her eyes filled with tears.
"And you still hurt me."
Adam didn't know what to say.
For the first time—
He had no answer.
Amina turned away.
Trying to breathe.
Trying to think.
But everything was too much.
"I hate this…" she whispered.
"What?"
"Not knowing… what's real."
Silence.
Then—
Adam stepped closer.
Slowly.
Carefully.
"Amina…"
She didn't turn.
"If you want me to leave," he said quietly,
"I will."
Her heart tightened.
"But I won't stop protecting you."
Silence.
Long.
Heavy.
Then—
She turned.
Suddenly.
Her eyes locked with his.
Full of emotions.
Confusion.
Pain.
And something else.
Something stronger.
"Why do I still feel safe with you…?" she asked.
Adam didn't answer.
Because he didn't know.
Or maybe—
Because he did.
Amina stepped closer.
This time—
She didn't hesitate.
"Even after everything…"
Closer.
"I still…"
She stopped.
Just a breath away.
"I don't understand this…"
Adam's voice was low.
"You don't have to."
Their eyes met.
Deep.
Real.
No lies this time.
Just truth.
Even if it hurt.
Amina's heart was racing.
But she didn't stop.
Not this time.
She closed the distance.
Slowly.
And then—
She kissed him.
Soft.
Careful.
Like she wasn't sure if it was real.
Adam froze.
For a second.
Then—
He responded.
Gently.
But real.
Everything else disappeared.
No past.
No danger.
Just that moment.
Just them.
But then—
Amina pulled back suddenly.
Her eyes wide.
Her breathing fast.
"I saw something…"
Adam frowned.
"What?"
Her voice shook.
"When I kissed you…"
She stepped back.
"I remembered…"
Silence.
"What did you remember?" he asked.
Amina looked at him.
Fear in her eyes.
"You…"
Her voice dropped.
"…you were the one driving the car."
