Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: You Were One of Them

Amina didn't move.

Her mind refused to process what she just heard.

"…I was part of them?"

Her voice was barely a whisper.

Adam didn't look away.

"Yes."

Silence.

Heavy.

Unreal.

Amina laughed softly.

But there was no humor in it.

"No… that's not possible."

She stepped back.

"I don't even know how to fight…"

Adam didn't interrupt.

"You just saw it yourself."

Her eyes dropped to her hands.

Still shaking.

"I… didn't control that…"

"I know."

"Then what does that mean?!"

Her voice broke.

"It means…"

Adam paused.

"…you were trained."

The word hit her hard.

"Trained…?"

"Yes."

"For what?"

He looked at her.

Serious.

"Not to survive."

Pause.

"To eliminate."

Amina felt her stomach turn.

"No…"

Her breathing became heavy.

"I'm not like that…"

"You were."

Silence.

Tears filled her eyes again.

"I would never hurt anyone…"

Adam didn't answer.

And that silence

Said everything.

Amina shook her head.

"No… you're wrong…"

"I wish I was."

She stepped closer.

Angry now.

"You're lying again!"

"I'm not."

"Then prove it!"

Silence.

Adam hesitated.

Then

He reached into his pocket.

And took out something.

A small device.

Amina frowned.

"What is that?"

"Something you left behind."

Her heart skipped.

"What…?

He pressed a button.

A holographic screen appeared.

Amina's breath stopped.

"No way…"

On the screen

It was her.

But not like now.

Different.

Cold.

Focused.

Stronger.

Wearing black.

Fighting.

Fast.

Precise.

Dangerous.

Amina stepped back.

"No… that's not me…"

But it was.

Every move.

Every look.

It was her.

The video stopped.

Silence.

Amina couldn't breathe.

"I… I did that…?"

Adam didn't answer.

Because she already knew.

She turned away.

Her body shaking.

"I don't understand…"

Her voice broke.

"Why would I do this…?"

Adam stepped closer.

"You weren't like them at the beginning."

She looked at him.

"Then what happened?"

His voice lowered.

"You found something."

That again.

"What did I find?!"

"Something they didn't want you to see."

Her heart started racing.

"And that's why they wanted me dead?"

"Yes."

Silence.

"So I wasn't one of them anymore…"

"No."

She swallowed.

"Then what was I…?"

Adam looked at her.

"Someone they couldn't control."

Amina felt something shift inside her.

Fear.

Yes.

But also—

Strength.

"So they erased my memory…?"

Adam nodded.

"And tried to finish the job."

Silence.

Amina closed her eyes.

Everything started connecting.

The accident.

The man.

The memories.

"It's all real…" she whispered.

"Yes."

She opened her eyes again.

Different now.

Stronger.

"Then we finish this."

Adam looked at her.

"You're not ready."

"I will never be ready."

She stepped closer.

"But I'm not running anymore."

Silence.

Adam studied her face.

Looking for doubt.

Fear.

Anything.

But she didn't move.

Didn't look away.

"I almost died," she said quietly.

"They erased my past… used me… tried to kill me…"

Her voice got stronger.

"I'm done being their target."

Adam felt it.

She wasn't the same anymore.

Something changed.

"Then we do this together," he said.

Amina nodded.

"Together."

Silence.

But this time

It wasn't heavy.

It was… clear.

Amina looked at him.

"For real this time."

He nodded.

"For real."

Then

She stepped closer.

Again.

Not from confusion.

Not from fear.

But by choice.

"You said I might hate you if I remember everything."

"Yes."

She looked into his eyes.

"Then I'll decide that myself."

His breath slowed.

"Amina…"

She didn't stop.

"And right now…"

Closer.

"I don't hate you."

Silence.

That changed everything.

She raised her hand.

Touched his face.

Gently.

"I don't remember loving you…"

Her voice soft.

"But I feel something."

Adam didn't move.

Didn't speak.

Didn't stop her.

"And I'm tired of fighting it."

Her heart was racing.

But she didn't step back.

Not this time.

She leaned closer.

Slowly.

No hesitation.

No fear.

And kissed him again.

This time

Stronger.

Real.

Certain.

Adam responded instantly.

No holding back.

No hesitation.

Everything between them

Real.

Even without memories.

But this time

She didn't pull away.

Not quickly.

Not confused.

She stayed.

Just a little longer.

When they finally separated

Her breathing was heavy.

But her eyes

Clear.

"Whatever we were before…"

She said softly.

"We'll build it again."

Adam looked at her.

Like he didn't expect that.

Like he didn't deserve that.

But still—

He wanted it.

He nodded.

"Together."
