Silence.
Heavy.
Unbearable.
Amina's words were still hanging in the air.
"You… were the one driving the car."
Adam didn't move.
Didn't speak.
Didn't deny it.
And that silence—
Was enough.
Amina's heart started beating faster.
"No…" she whispered.
"No, say something…"
Adam finally looked at her.
His eyes… weren't cold anymore.
They were full of something else.
Regret.
"Yes," he said quietly.
Her world stopped.
"You're lying…"
"I'm not."
Tears filled her eyes instantly.
"Then why…?"
Her voice broke.
"Why were you there?!"
Adam took a slow breath.
"Because I was ordered to be there."
Amina stepped back.
"Ordered…?"
"Yes."
"By who?!"
"You already know."
Her mind raced.
"The organization…"
He nodded.
"They wanted you stopped."
Her heart dropped.
"Stopped… meaning what?"
Silence.
She already knew the answer.
"You were supposed to die that night."
The words hit her like a shock.
Amina shook her head.
"No… no…"
"But something went wrong."
She looked at him.
Her eyes full of pain.
"What went wrong…?"
Adam's voice lowered.
"I couldn't do it."
Silence.
Amina froze.
"What…?"
"I couldn't let it happen."
Her breath got stuck.
"You're saying… you saved me?"
"Yes."
Her mind was breaking.
"You were supposed to kill me…"
"Yes."
"But you didn't…"
"Yes."
"Then WHY DOES IT STILL FEEL LIKE YOU BETRAYED ME?!"
Her voice echoed in the room.
Broken.
Full of emotion.
Adam didn't defend himself.
Because he knew—
She had every right to feel that way.
"I was part of it," he said quietly.
"That's enough to make me guilty."
Amina laughed painfully.
"That's not enough…"
She wiped her tears.
"You were right there…"
Closer.
"When everything happened…"
Her voice dropped.
"And I trusted you."
Adam froze.
That word again.
Trusted.
"You remember that?" he asked softly.
Amina closed her eyes.
Fragments.
Pieces.
Not clear.
But enough.
"Not everything…"
She opened her eyes again.
"But I remember how I felt."
Silence.
"And I trusted you," she repeated.
That hit him harder than anything.
Amina turned away.
She couldn't look at him anymore.
"I don't know what to believe…"
Adam took a step closer.
"You don't have to believe anything."
"Then what do I do?!"
She turned suddenly.
Angry.
Lost.
"Because right now… I feel like I'm standing next to the person who was supposed to kill me!"
Silence.
That truth…
Was too heavy.
Adam didn't move.
"If you want to leave," he said quietly,
"I won't stop you."
Amina stared at him.
"You think it's that simple?"
"No."
"Then why are you saying it like that?!"
"Because you deserve a choice."
Silence.
Long.
Heavy.
Amina's heart was breaking.
"I hate this…" she whispered.
"What?"
"Everything."
Her voice shook.
"The lies… the memories… you…"
That one hurt.
Even if she didn't mean it that way.
Adam nodded slowly.
"I understand."
"No, you don't!"
She stepped closer.
"You don't know what it feels like to lose your memory!"
His eyes changed.
Dark.
Serious.
"I do."
That stopped her.
"What…?"
"I lost everything too."
Silence.
"What are you talking about…?"
Adam looked away for a second.
Then back at her.
"The organization…"
His voice lowered.
"They don't just use people."
"They erase them."
Amina's breath stopped.
"What do you mean?"
"They take your past… your identity… everything."
Her heart started racing again.
"You're saying…"
"I'm not who I used to be."
Silence.
"I don't even remember my real name."
That shocked her.
"Adam… isn't your real name?"
"No."
Amina didn't know what to say.
For the first time—
She saw him differently.
Not just as someone dangerous.
But as someone broken.
Like her.
"I didn't choose this life," he continued.
"But I couldn't leave it either."
"Why?"
"Because once you're in…"
He looked at her.
"…you don't get out."
Silence.
Amina felt something change inside her.
Her anger…
was still there.
But something else joined it.
Understanding.
"You saved me…" she said softly.
Adam didn't answer.
"You could have let me die…"
Silence.
"But you didn't."
Her voice trembled.
"Even if you were part of it…"
She took a step closer.
"That matters."
Adam looked at her.
Surprised.
"You don't have to forgive me."
"I'm not."
Honest.
Direct.
"But…"
She hesitated.
Then—
"I'm not leaving either."
That hit him.
Hard.
"Amina…"
"I don't trust you fully," she said.
"But I don't trust anyone else either."
Silence.
"And right now…"
She looked into his eyes.
"You're the only one who stayed."
Adam didn't know what to say.
For the first time—
He had no control over the situation.
Amina took a deep breath.
"So… what now?"
Adam looked at her.
Serious again.
"Now… we stop running."
Her heart skipped.
"What do you mean?"
"We go after them."
Silence.
Amina stared at him.
"The organization?"
"Yes."
"Are you crazy?!"
"Maybe."
He stepped closer.
"But it's the only way this ends."
Amina felt fear again.
But this time—
Something else too.
Determination.
"And if we fail…?"
Adam didn't hesitate.
"Then we don't survive."
Silence.
Heavy.
Real.
Amina swallowed slowly.
Then said—
"Then we don't fail."
