Chapter 3 - 3 Jun-tae

After that day, Su-hee wore baggy sweaters and followed Jun-tae around the Computer Science department. Her sunglasses made her look suspicious, but no one stopped her.

"Isn't that Su-hee?"

"That crazy girl who asked Da-hyun and Jae-hae?!"

"Damn… who is she after this time?"

The girls walking by shook their heads.

Su-hee observed Jun-tae from afar, hoping to see how she could approach him and get rejected. However, every time she got closer to him, he sped away. Why does he keep running away?! I'm trying to confess to you!

Then a girl stopped in front of him, hesitantly handing out a water bottle.

"Hm… please accept my confession—"

Jun-tae brushed past her without glancing at her. The girl was mortified by his shadow. She turned around and nearly cried.

"Juju, don't cry… I told you he would not look at you…" her friend comforted her.

"But… he didn't even say anything—"

"That's because of the drink in your hand. He always rejects a girl who tries to confess with a drink…"

"But this is water… not any type of drinks," Juju complained.

Su-hee listened carefully, taking notes in her notebook. He rejects girls who confess while holding a drink. Got it! She smiled. After she finished jotting it down, she hurried to follow Jun-tae. She looked around and couldn't find him.

"Where did he go? I swear I saw him go this way…" she muttered. Then she stopped when she saw a crowd of girls surrounding a poster, squeezing through to get a look.

"I heard that Jun-tae Oppa is so good at basketball!" one chimed.

"He's so sexy!"

"They're playing against Jae-hae…"

"Who's better? Jae-hae or Jun-tae?" one squealed.

Su-hee frowned. The ogre is definitely better looking than a snob, obviously! She blew a raspberry and turned away. She paused and tilted her head.

"Wait… I can ask him there! He won't be able to run away!" she beamed. She clenched her fists excitedly and walked away.

Without her realizing it, Jun-tae watched her run away. He smirked.

"So… I guess I should play my best that day… to impress you," he said, rubbing his lower lip with intrigue. He headed to the locker room to change. He tugged his shirt off, exposing a sculpted torso—lean muscle and sharp lines that made it difficult not to stare.

"Hey, I didn't think you would make it!" Won-woo stated, patting Jun-tae's shoulder.

Jun-tae turned around and smiled, holding his shirt.

"I want to have a little more practice… that's all," he replied.

Won-woo laughed and grabbed his water bottle.

"You? The 'Jang Jun-tae' need more practice? Nah!" Won-woo teased, sipping.

"I gotta impress someone… you know," Jun-tae added.

Won-woo spat some water out, and his eyes widened.

"What?! Someone?" he smiled. Then he hurried to Jun-tae's side and leaned his elbow onto Jun-tae's shoulder. "Tell me… who is this girl that you finally got your eyes on?"

Jun-tae chuckled, throwing his shirt into his locker before grabbing another shirt.

"Oh… just an amusing girl… you'll get to meet her soon."

"Hey, you can't do that to me! I want to know who this magical girl is!" Won-woo shouted as Jun-tae walked away, shaking his head.

Jun-tae entered the basketball court to practice with the Computer Science department team. Hee-wan stood on the third-point line, throwing the ball. Jun-tae scoffed, tossing his duffel bag down. He hurried to the coach's side.

"Coach…"

"Oh, Jun-tae! You came! I thought you wouldn't want to come to practice," the coach said.

Jun-tae chuckled nervously, scratching his neck.

"I thought maybe it wouldn't hurt to practice a little more to get even better…"

The coach laughed out loud, capturing everyone else's attention.

"Boy, you're amazing… go practice throwing with Hee-wan," the coach cheered.

Jun-tae bowed with his hand behind his back and sprinted toward Hee-wan, who glared at him.

"What brings you here? I thought you hated to practice because you're so good already," Hee-wan snorted.

Jun-tae giggled, taking the ball from Hee-wan's hands.

"Maybe… I just found something worth impressing…" Jun-tae smirked.

Hee-wan furrowed his brows and took a step back. What the hell is this guy talking about?

Each time the ball was returned to Jun-tae, he took a second to look at Hee-wan's face. Troubled?

"I think I found someone I really like… I might confess to her if I see her again," Jun-tae added, throwing the basketball to the hoop.

Hee-wan scoffed and laughed, grabbing the ball that was thrown to Jun-tae. He looked over his shoulder and smiled at Jun-tae.

"Really? Who is this girl?" Hee-wan taunted, crouching his body before leaping—

"Lee Su-hee…"

Hee-wan threw—but missed. He froze as he turned to Jun-tae with a sharp gaze. Jun-tae locked eyes with him and smiled brightly.

"What? Lee Su-hee?" he echoed, his eyes twitching.

"She got a cute charm…" Jun-tae stated. Then he grabbed the ball while looking at Hee-wan. "And… I guess you can say… I'm attracted to her weirdness."

Hee-wan clenched his fists, wanting to swing, but had to restrain his anger.

Jun-tae continued practicing without taking a look at Hee-wan because he knew that Hee-wan couldn't focus on basketball anymore. Rubbing salt on the wound feels good. How dare you scheme with Hyung to drug me that day?

Soon after practice, Jun-tae returned to the locker room and changed.

Hee-wan ran out of the locker, shoving anyone who walked before him. What is that bastard up to? I thought he lost interest in women ever since that day in junior high! He grunted, then paused.

"Ogre, make sure you lose!" Su-hee teased. Jae-hae laughed, scruffling her hair. "Yah!"

"I will win… bring your friends, okay?"

Su-hee's skin spiked goosebumps, filing a formal complaint about Jae-hae's words.

"Ew… are you trying to go after my friends?" she wondered. Jae-hae smiled and patted her forehead. "Yah! Stop messing with my head!"

"You just have a big forehead, orc," he teased.

Su-hee snarled like a chihuahua, slapping his hand while he cackled at her.

"I'm leaving… just remember to save me a spot!" she demanded, planning to attend the basketball game. She ran back to her friends in the cafeteria while Hee-wan watched.

"Why are you confessing to these people when you don't even like them, Su-hee?" Hee-wan muttered, his voice dropping dangerously low. His gaze darkened, fixated on her like a warning.
