Chapter 3 - Welcome to Japan!

For the next three days, I worked from sunrise to sunset to get used to having wings.

It was a bit strange having two extra limbs that I had to control, but having them out at all hours of the day certainly helped since I was forcing myself to adapt. It was interesting to put my clothes on, but I made it work as I also took short practice flights onto the roof.

Thanks to the Master Ninja belt, I didn't have to worry about getting hurt when I fell, so I tried again and again to reach the top of the building. It took nearly two days since I was learning from the ground up how to fly, but when I finally made it, I was rewarded for my progress.

[Ding! You have earned one Random Silver Ticket for learning how to fly by yourself!]

I grinned as I spun the wheel, using this as my break time before I started trying to fly back down rather than letting the belt do all the work for me.

[Spinning, spinning, spinning, done!]

[Rasaka's Fang]

|Rare Item|

Solo Levelling - A dagger carved from the venomous fang of Rasaka, this dagger is perpetually imbued with venom that afflicts whoever it cuts with paralysis and makes the wounds harder to heal.

'Well, if I ever lose it and turn into the Stain, I know what I'll be using.' I thought as I left the dagger in the system storage for now, the Master Ninja belt and Guardian Shield already were on my person, and I didn't have anywhere to hide a dagger.

For the rest of the two days I had left, I kept doing the same thing, starting from the ground floor, I would fly up to the top of the dorms before landing as smoothly as I could. The Master Ninja belt really proved its worth as I fell several times after landing too close to the edge and falling over. I learned quickly not to land so close to the edge.

When the day finally came for me to board the plane, I was given a ride by the social worker who'd been in charge of my case for years. He was a slightly overweight bald guy who seemed nice, but he didn't talk much, so I kept quiet as well.

Once we got to the terminal, he helped me get my bag out of the trunk and shook my hand. "Good luck, young man." He said simply before driving away, as I made my way through the check-in line.

To say the airport was orderly was a lie. I'd gotten there nearly four hours before my flight and was already nervous I might not make it. There were easily three hundred people in various lines, thankfully not that many in mine as I checked my luggage.

After that, I readied my I.D and passport as I joined the line that shuffled through TSA. It actually didn't take very long, but I noticed the difference when the Master Ninja belt had to be taken off. I was relying on it too much.

I shoved that aside once I put it back on as I made my way to my terminal and made a mental map of the airport. Thankfully, my terminal was near the bathrooms and a few shops, so after taking care of business, I went looking for food since it was still only 1 A.M and I needed a snack.

After finding my snack, I took it back to my seat and took a nap while waiting for the plane to arrive. Once I was awake once more, I found the plane had just landed and went to the bathroom one more time before boarding the plane.

I don't actually remember much of the flight since I was asleep before we even started to taxi, but since the flight was so long, all I did was wake up six hours into a twelve-hour flight. A stewardess filled me in and gave me some soda to drink as I put on some headphones to watch a movie.

For the rest of the flight, I did nothing but drink soda and watch movies to keep the boredom away; nothing was worse than a long flight. The only good part was that we got a free meal with the flight; the options were a ham or turkey sandwich. I got a ham and enjoyed the cookie that came with it during the final leg of the flight.

Once we finally landed in Tokyo, I took my time getting off the plane since everyone else was rushing and I didn't want to be pulled along with them. This made getting off and getting to baggage claim easy since I wasn't fighting any traffic, everyone else was already getting their bags by the time I got there, and it was simply picking my own stuff off the carousel.

Once I got down to the pick-up area, I borderline didn't have to think since someone was already there holding a sign with my name on it. I was so glad he could speak English, as he told me I would be staying with a family whose son was also going to U.A.

It was a bit of a ride in the car, but we hopped on a train to Shizuoka, where I finally got a look at the house I'd be staying at. Seeing the roof that looked just like every other house shouldn't have given it away, but the scorch marks on the walkway gave me an idea of who I'd be staying with.

Getting my stuff out of the car once more, I walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. A voice answered from inside, but since my Japanese was still spotty, I couldn't make out what they said. If the rising heat was an answer, though, I knew exactly who was about to open the door.

"Can I help- Oh, I was wondering when you'd arrive." Endeavor opened the door, still in his hero costume, as I wondered how his lip didn't sweat from a flaming mustache. "Hello, Sir. I'm Micah Hall, and I believe I'll be staying with you for a while."

After leaving my shoes at the door, I was left to sit in the living room for a moment while Endeavor went to make sure my room was ready. I wasn't alone for long as I heard Endeavor call across the house as a trio of people entered the living room.

"H-hello. Nice to meet you!" A broken but still coherent greeting sounded from the sole female, a young woman with red hair that had a few white flecks. She seemed nervous while her brothers seemed more enthusiastic, mostly.

"If it makes things easier, I can speak simple Japanese. Just enough to get into trouble." I said, getting a smile out of the older siblings, as the one my age, no doubt Shoto, stayed quiet and went to sit down.

"Phew, I'm sorry for my bad English. I'm not completely used to it. My name is Fuyumi!" The older girl introduced herself as her brother went next, in English instead. "I'm Natsuo! It's so cool to meet someone from the United States. I've always wanted to go and explore!"

I grinned and shook the enthusiastic boy's hand as Natsuo and Fuyumi motioned for Shoto to introduce himself. "I'm Shoto." He said finally, as Fuyumi looked apologetic. "It's fine, I'm sure we'll get to know each other." I waved it off as Endeavor returned, now in normal clothes.

"Your room is ready, come see." I followed behind the man while noting the temperature drop when he entered the room. Seems the guy's family really did hate him, at least Shoto and Natsuo did anyway.

My room was decently sized, with more than enough space for simple exercise. After putting my things away, I returned to the living room, where Fuyumi and Natsuo were waiting. "Well, I'm sure you're hungry after such a long flight, so Natsuo will give a tour of the house while I make dinner."

The tour wasn't much, but I enjoyed seeing the distinct architecture since it was so different from what I was used to. Natsuo showed me where all the basics were, the bathroom, the training hall if I so wished, and the other rooms.

By the time we were done, Fuyumi called us back to the kitchen, where she'd made white rice and fish. A simple dish that I enjoyed greatly since it had been hours since I'd had that airplane sandwich.

"Thank you for the great meal, Todoroki-San." I thanked Fuyumi, who was glad her food was enjoyed. The rest of the time I spent answering their numerous questions about life in the States.

Various things interested them, like fast food, how heroes were organized, and the various tourist locations. They did seem surprised by how relaxed the quirk usage laws were, so I gave them a better explanation.

"Since almost everyone is born with a quirk, it seems wrong to limit the use of them since they are natural parts of our bodies, literally in some people's cases. Of course, using them for convenience and using them for crime is totally different, but most tend to restrain themselves since the police force works closely with the National Guard to keep things in order."

What I didn't tell them is that even normal cops can use their quirks to help subdue villains; they were shocked enough as it was, so I didn't want to overwhelm them just yet. I was also starting to get tired, which Fuyumi must have noticed as she finally dragged Natsuo to his room, and I crashed in mine.
