Chapter 9 - First fight

As we made our way to the building to hide our 'bomb', I couldn't help but feel nervous.

Sasha must have noticed and knew I wouldn't admit to it, so she kept teasing me to loosen me up as we moved the bomb to the top of the 5th floor. Once there, we made our plan.

"Alright, so my quirk, Night Lynx, gives me feline abilities that let me see better in dim areas. I've got a few other things hiding away, but for now we just need to take out as many lights as we can before they get inside."

I nodded as I shoved my nervousness aside. My wings burst out as I raced down the floors, not killing all the lights, but enough to where the heroes would have to adjust to different light levels constantly. "Testing, testing. Great! The earpiece works!" Sasha's voice said as I got down to the second level when All Might called time.

"I'm going to fly around outside. I wouldn't put it past Yaoyorozu to try something clever." I said as Sasha confirmed. Going out, I flew around the perimeter twice before ducking back inside. "No luck, they're in here with us." "Can you dim down those flames?" "I can try."

With some effort, I was able to reduce the fire along my wings to a mere flicker as Sasha slinked into the dark. I tried not to think too hard about how good she looked doing so as I felt the building shake slightly down below.

"Watch out, tiger. Big guy coming your way, just plowed through a wall, going straight up the stairs. Yaoyorozu is mine." Sasha informed me as I got ready, pushing the bomb further away from the stairs while making sure it wasn't near any windows.

Just in time, as well as I heard heavy-footed steps rushing up the stairs as Sato burst in. I threw a fireball at him as he crossed his arms. It pushed him back a few inches, and he waved his arms around in pain.

I didn't wait for him to recover as I dove for him. He'd gotten back into it, though, as he tried jumping over me, but I just shot sideways with a flap as I repositioned. Circling him, I threw more fireballs his way. This time, he didn't let them hit him as he tried to slowly get closer to the bomb.

I fixed that by creating a flaming wall between him and the bomb. The only way through was past me, and I wasn't going to let him through easily. He did come prepared, though, with items Yaoyorozu made as he pulled out some kind of launcher.

I tried to move in time, but the gun was faster. It fired a massive net that was thankfully flammable, as I burned it before it could tangle up my wings. That gave Sato a window to try and rush the bomb, but I tackled him away in time as we rolled into a wall.

I jumped to my feet and put distance between us as Sato lifted himself off the ground. He seemed dazed, giving me the perfect opportunity to rush him. I held back, however, since it felt like a trap, not wanting to risk any big moves until I knew Sasha had gotten Yaoyorozu.

Sato 'recovered' a few moments later as he rushed forward again, hurling wild haymakers as he tried to land a hit. I stayed out of reach and just bombarded him with flames as I mentally counted down the time we had left, still too long.

The floor shook a little below us as whatever Yaoyorozu had hiding down there went off. I didn't think too much about it as I noticed Sato start to shrink a little. Sato also noticed as he made some distance before pulling something out of a pouch on his costume.

'The sugar packets!' I suddenly remembered as I threw a fireball, forcing him to dodge as I rushed in. Since his quirk was starting to fade, I was able to level the playing field somewhat. Yes, Sato was still a heavy-hitter, but this was more manageable compared to before.

As I slowly started to push Sato back towards the stairwell, he got desperate as he did his best to fight one-handed as he tried to consume a sugar packet. I didn't give him any breathing room, though, as he stumbled, almost falling down the stairs, as I finally got closer.

CLANG!

I almost felt bad as I smacked Sato in the face with the Guardian Shield, but he simply crumpled to the floor unconscious as I tied him up with his own capture tape. I then set him in a corner before going back to the bomb.

A few minutes later, All Might's voice rang out, "Villain team wins!" I grinned as I went to untie the now awake Sato. "That was a good fight. I didn't realize that you had such a cool support item." He praised as we made our way down the stairs.

"You're not too bad yourself. I didn't think I'd be able to beat you until I saw-" I froze as I peered into a semi-lit room. Sato noticed and froze as Sasha took another picture. "Sasha. What are you doing to Yaoyorozu?" I asked as our eyes adjusted to the light.

Somehow, Sasha had gotten her hands on Yaoyorozu's capture tape and put it to use. Tying the girl up in a way that accentuated certain parts of her body. "Whatever do you mean?" Sasha purred as she posed for another selfie with Yaoyorozu, bright red as she tried to loosen the tape.

"Let's go," I said hurriedly as Sato ran alongside me back to the rest of the class. "Where's the other two?" All Might asked as I saw one of the cameras had been disabled. "Uh, Sasha's helping Yaoyorozu untangle herself," I said ambiguously as Sato and I shared a look; no one had to know.

Sasha ran in a few minutes later with a still blushing Yaoyorozu chasing her furiously as she hid behind me. "Protect me, Micah! The big bad Momo is trying to tie me up!" Sasha shrieked gleefully as everyone tried their best to piece things together.

"I'm so sorry," I said as Yaoyorozu glared at Sasha. All Might finally cleared his throat as he delivered his analysis. "Well. Micah and Sasha displayed great teamwork, trusting each other to handle their own responsibilities.

Micah did well to adjust the environment to better suit his teammate; this won't always be an option, but it is a good strategy to keep in mind. Likewise, Sasha engaged the enemy on her terms, using the low light to her advantage.

Yaoyorozu and Sato also did very well despite the loss. Using information she already had, Yaoyorozu was able to supply her teammate with a tool to help him out, even if it didn't work. Always have a backup plan for when things go astray!

Sato also did well to try to limit structural damage, for the most part. The key thing to remember is to be aware of any time constraints any quirk has. I'm sure Sato would have eventually succeeded, but his need to replenish his quirk led to his downfall."

As All Might turned to the next teams to fight, I whispered furiously into Sasha's ear. "What did you DO?!" She smirked with that stupid smile of hers as she whispered back, "I'll show you later. I took plenty of photos."

I tried my best not to unpack that mentally as the next fight started and promptly ended. "Hero team wins!" All Might declared as the class stared in shock at the frozen building, courtesy of Shoto's ice.

"You said you live with that guy, right?" Sasha said as I nodded. It was really terrifying to see Shoto use his ice like this, at least compared to what I was used to seeing. Yet this was only the tip of the iceberg; Shoto would get much stronger by the time of the Final War, if the Manga and Anime were to be believed.

As the next few teams went and duked it out, I made Sasha apologize to Yaoyorozu. "If she did anything inappropriate, or does so again, please let me know. I'll be sure to talk to her." I gave Sasha a look as Yaoyorozu nodded.

"What, you jealous I wasn't tying you up?" Sasha teased as I snorted, "Like I'd be the one tied up." She froze at that as Yaoyorozu snorted. "I see you've started to fight back, good for you." Sasha pouted at that before she grinned. "I'll be sure to share our photos later, I like how that costume looks in them~" She said as Yaoyorozu went beet red once again.

I didn't stand in the way as Yaoyorozu chased Sasha around the room; at least they were being quiet.
