"GASP!" Micah shot up as he instinctively unfurled his wings and readied his fire.
His hands went for his throat, making sure it was still there as he could still feel the crushing grip of the Nomu. Once he confirmed he was breathing, he calmed down and looked around the room.
The walls, floor, and ceiling were stark white. He realized he must be in a hospital or U.A. 's nurse's office, since he was wearing a medical gown. He toned down the flames so they would not burn the bed he was on when the door opened, and Sasha dropped her tray.
Without a word, she leapt onto him, nearly strangled him as she shook in his arms. He held her close as tears welled up in his eyes. Sasha was already crying as he felt her tears wet his shoulder.
They held each other close for several silent minutes until they finally calmed down. "How long was I out?" He finally asked. "Three days. We were given two days to rest after the attack, and today was our first day back."
She then let go and punched him in the gut, full force, as he nearly passed out again. "Do you have any idea how worried I was about you? I thought you wouldn't make it!" She hissed as fresh tears threatened to spill out.
"I had to keep everyone safe, you know that." It was a weak excuse, even to him. "Well, next time, include yourself. You can't save anyone if you're dead!" It was harsh, but he needed to hear it. Thankfully, the door opened. Surely, Recovery Girl entered to keep him safe, right?
She didn't keep him safe. . .
After a stern lecture and several whacks with her cane, Recovery Girl finally discharged Micah as he walked with Sasha to the lunchroom. He'd slept through the two-day break they'd been given, and he'd woken up at the start of lunch.
Sasha had been on her way to eat in his room when she found him, and now they had to get lunch before everything shut down. As they entered the cafeteria, the rest of class 1-A nearly killed themselves trying to get over to them in their excitement to see Micah awake.
In their excitement to see him, only one noticed that Micah and Sasha had entered the cafeteria holding hands. Micah quickly said hi to everyone, nearly shoving them aside to get in line for food.
Ida and Yaoyorozu were able to calm the class down as they gave him space, and he was able to collect his food. "I'm glad to see you awake," Shoto said as they took their normal seats. "It's good to be awake. Did I miss much?" Micah started to eat as Yaoyorozu shook her head.
"Due to the investigation, we were given two days to rest and recover after the attack. Other than you, Thirteen, and Aizawa-Sensei, none of us had serious injuries that required serious medical attention." Seeing the question in his eyes, she added, "Aizawa-Sensei is fully recovered and in class, though he does move a bit stiffly for the moment. Thirteen is still in the hospital."
The table was silent for a moment as Micah finished his bite of food. "What happened after I lost consciousness?" "All Might." Shoto, Yaoyorozu, and Sasha said as one. "He burst through the main doors and went straight for the nomu, strangling you. That hand villain tried to get involved, but Aizawa-Sensei was able to cancel his quirk, and Shoto froze him." Yayorozu said.
"He wasn't smiling," Shoto said softly as Micah looked confused, then realized what he meant. All Might wasn't smiling when he saved them all. All Might always smiled.
The rest of lunch was silent as Micah ate two full trays of food before being satisfied. Once they were back in the classroom, Micah found he hadn't missed much, as the only real class they'd had that day was English.
At the end of the day, Aizawa returned to give the class some news that would change things for a few weeks. "The time has come for the annual U.A Sports Festival. It will be held in a little over two weeks, giving you plenty of time to prepare. Take this very seriously since you only get three chances to show off what you can do to the world before you become heroes."
Ida raised his hand. "Sir, U.A just suffered an attack from villains on school grounds. Is this really the best time to hold such an event?" "If we don't, we show that U.A can be intimidated. With the increased security this year, you have nothing to worry about other than performing to the best of your ability."
That seemed to satisfy Ida for now as Aizawa gave them homework before dismissing them. "What the-" Kirishima said from the door as everyone turned to see the crowd of students gathered at their door.
"Can you please not block the entrance? We need to go home now." Ida asked them as Ochako looked confused. "Why is everyone in our classroom? They look kinda mad." Bakugo answered with his signature explosive intensity.
"These extras are crowding around to get a look at us because we face villains. A bunch of weak little bitches!" He snapped at the crowd as Micah rolled his eyes. "Take me away from here?" Sasha asked, and he nodded, lifting her as his wings lifted them over the crowd.
Shoto and Yaoyorozu shoved their way after them as Bakugo stayed back to keep yelling at everyone crowding their door. Sasha pouted as Micah set her down, but didn't complain; she could tell he still wasn't all there after waking up only a few hours ago.
Micah himself was distracted by something else entirely; the Gacha had given him a few tickets.
[For keeping Shota Aizawa from being gravely injured as in canon, you have been awarded one Random Silver Ticket.]
[For surviving a confrontation with an experimental mid-tier Nomu, you have been awarded one Random Platinum Ticket.]
[For keeping all of class 1-A safe from Tomura, Nomu, and Kurogiri. You have been awarded one Random Silver Ticket.]
'What's with the Platinum Ticket? I got choked out by a nomu, no way that counts as surviving!' Micah thought as the Gacha explained to him. [That Nomu was tailor-made to kill All Might. It could have ripped your head off at any time, yet you still fought it and didn't die.]
Remembering how the air shook whenever the Nomu swung at them, he shivered and decided not to look the gift horse in the mouth. 'Ok then, spin the tickets.'

[Light Waltz]
Common Ability
Allows you to cover parts of your body in a light-like aura that decreases the pressure you apply on surfaces to almost nothing, allowing you to walk on cobwebs or water, but does not reduce the damage or effects you take. Falls will still hurt, but where you land will not take damage.
Not a very useful ability, but it brought his total abilities up to four, only one more, and he could have two active at once.
[Spinning, spinning, spinning, done!]
[Begging]
Uncommon Skill
You are very skilled at throwing your dignity away and begging people for things. Get on the ground on all fours and start crying, and you could get most people to think you are pitiful enough to grant your request. Who needs dignity when you can beg people for free things? People are more receptive to your begging, and it is easier to get people to accept your requests this way. Warning: Effects are heavily dependent on the type of individual; it works especially well against soft-hearted people.
Micah felt like bashing his head against the wall. This was the most useless skill he could get. He then thought of Sasha and decided to put a pin in that for now . . .
[Spinning, spinning, spinning, done!]
[Six Eyes]
Epic Ability
Jujutsu Kaisen - Grants exceptional visual prowess that can even penetrate through solid matter, incredible calculation ability, and energy efficiency, but overuse will strain your eyes heavily.
Micah felt his eyes itch as his vision became clearer. Without hesitation, he activated Six Eyes along with Desperation. He activated it and watched the world become more vivid, as if he was finally seeing clearly for the first time.
"You ok, tiger?" Sasha said, poking him as he froze suddenly. Micah turned to look at her and froze. "You got something to say, or you just gonna stare?" Sasha asked as he answered without hesitation, "You're beautiful."
She froze, never expecting him to say something like that to her face as they heard a camera click. "Don't mind us, just enjoying the show." Yaoyorozu waved as Shoto put his phone away after sending it to her.
Sasha lunged for the phone as they started playing keep away right on the U.A lawn. Micah finally rebooted his brain as he registered Yaoyorozu's amused face. 'Not her too!' He lamented as he deactivated Six Eyes, though the image of Sasha and Yaoyorozu still burned in his mind.
"Let him go, you aren't getting it back." He finally grabbed Sasha since Shoto was about to freeze her solid. Yaoyorozu then spoke up as her limousine pulled up to the gate, "If you'd all like, I have an empty schedule this afternoon. We could all go over to my house and have a little celebration since Micah has finally woken up."
Sasha agreed immediately, already dragging Micah over to the limo as he looked at Shoto. "Wanna see if Fuyumi and Natsuo want to come?" He asked as Shoto considered it, then nodded. Yaoyorozu, for her part, was delighted; she was finally having friends over!!
"Dude, I think she's kinda rich. . ." Shoto's eyes tracked the peacock strutting across the lawn before nodding. "Her family is the wealthiest in Japan. Even my father has deals with them." Micah was being dragged across the paved walkway by Sasha.
"I know everything looks super awesome and fancy, but Momo's promised us snacks!" Sasha whined as Micah tried to stop and gaze at everything that caught his eye. When they finally got into the mansion, Momo happily gave them a tour of the massive halls that made up her family's summer home.
Shoto was mildly impressed. Since he was Endeavor's 'prized' son, he'd been forced from a young age to go along with him to various events and galas, sometimes even abroad. The Yaoyorozu estate was still something else as he noticed several items that could fetch small fortunes if sold.
Sasha and Micah were much more astonished by everything. Although not poor, they didn't live in luxury such as this, and were constantly pushing each other further into the house to not get lost as Yaoyorozu finally entered a much smaller dining hall.
"Young Miss, a couple of people are waiting at the gate." A butler passed Yaoyorozu a video of Fuyumi and Natsuo as she had them brought to them. As they ate, Shoto and Yaoyorozu ended up carrying on the conversation, discussing the various art pieces they'd passed along the way.
Sasha and Micah, while paying attention, were more focused on the food spread before them. Exotic meats, different breads, all sorts of different food they wouldn't normally eat, all provided by Yaoyorozu, who was grinning ear to ear, seeing her friends indulge themselves.
With Shoto's siblings joining the fun, Micah and Sasha were able to enjoy a quiet moment together when she asked him, "Please, don't ever do something like that again." He froze, then finished his bite of food before answering.
"We're training to become heroes; danger is part of it."
"I know that, but what you did was reckless. At least let us help next time, and no, Shoto and Bakugo don't count."
He pouted, and she rolled her eyes.
"You know I'm only telling you because I care. You're not invincible after all."
He hated that she was right, but she didn't know everything he did; she didn't know what would happen within the next few months. How the entire country would become a war zone.
"I can't promise that. Not yet." He said softly as she turned to him, as they focused on each other and not Fuyumi and Yaoyorozu's talk about conditioners.
"Why not? I get our lives are only going to get more dangerous, but you can at least try, right?" She demanded.
"I don't want to run away from-"
"You aren't running away." She corrected him, "You just have to promise me you'll try your best to come back. No matter what."
He looked at her, really looked at her. Behind the flicking ears and tail that he now knew were signs of her displeasure, to the way her whole body seemed to be facing the others, yet all her attention was on him.
Her eyes seemed to be full of anger at him, mad that he would dare talk back to her. He saw the fear within them, that he might throw himself, his life away. He saw it all.
"I promise." He lied. She saw right through him.
"Don't make a girl a promise, if you know you can't keep it."
