Cherreads

Chapter 6 - First day of school

The first day of school always made me nervous, even after coming face-to-face with the ROB, I was still nervous.

Thankfully, I had something to cheer me up, the Gacha! Since I had made it into class 1-A, it gave me a random silver ticket and another for passing the exam in the first place. The real prize, however, was the random gold ticket I got for coming in first place, and now I was going to roll them!

'Go ahead, Gacha, I'm stuck on this train for now, so I'd like to get it over with.'

[Alright then.]

[Spinning, spinning, spinning, done!]

[Observer]

Uncommon Familiar

A group of disembodied floating eyeballs that can transmit their sight to yours and follow complex commands, they possess no combat power and are as vulnerable as human eyeballs. If an eye gets perished, you can resummon it in 24 hours.

It was kind of creepy when I thought about it, but I'm sure they would be useful at some point, so I kept them inside the Familiar space for now as I spun the next silver ticket.

[Spinning, spinning, spinning, done!]

[Crystal Shower]

Uncommon Ability

Allows you to create crystals and shoot them as projectiles at your target. The larger and faster the crystal, the more energy you expend.

Now this was something useful! I'm sure at some point I'd have to go undercover or just go insane and become a vigilante. So, having another ability I could swap out to turn the tables was really useful. Now for the gold ticket!

[Spinning, spinning, spinning, done!]

[Initiate Magician]

Rare Trait

You are a Magician who has just embarked on their journey into the mystical. You can learn, memorize, and master spells faster as well as cast them more efficiently. The penalties for learning a magical system that is not your own are mitigated.

Well, as far as I knew, there wasn't any magic in MHA, but if I ever came across it, this trait would be really useful. So I didn't completely write it off just yet since it could still be useful in the future.

As the train came to a stop, Shoto and I disembarked as we started our walk to U.A. As usual, we walked in silence, but I kept my eye open for a certain cat-girl I knew would probably make it in as well.

So far, I hadn't seen her, but I knew she'd made it into U.A. She'd called me last night, and we talked for hours about all the things we looked forward to. I knew I was probably a bit too excited to see her, but I couldn't help it since she was one of the few friends I'd made so far.

Unfortunately, I didn't see her even as we walked through the halls of U.A. It kinda bummed me out, as we walked through the massive door with 1-A painted on the side, when something jumped onto my back.

"AH!" I yelped as Shoto gave me a look. The only other person in the room, a refined-looking girl with a ponytail, hid her laugh as Sasha ruffled my hair from her perch on my back. "Hey Micah, did I scare you?" She giggled as I spun around, only for her to cling tighter.

"I'm guessing this is the friend you were waiting for?" The other girl said as she walked over and introduced herself. "I'm Momo Yaoyorozu. A pleasure to meet you." She said as Shoto nodded, "Shoto." Then took his seat towards the back of the room.

"My name's Micah," I said while trying to get Sasha off my back. She treated it all like a game and just kept holding me tighter as I tried to pry her off. "Sasha, can you please get off!" I said helplessly as she made a humming noise, "Nope!" I sighed and thought about opening my wings, but decided against it since I didn't want to tear the uniform.

Defeated, I went to my seat, which was between Yaoyorozu and Sasha. She hopped off as I sat down before placing herself right on my desk. I tried to keep my eyes on her face and not the thighs currently at eye level as she made herself comfortable.

Sasha, for one, was enjoying seeing Micah squirm in his seat as he tried to hold a civil conversation with Yaoyorozu and herself.

"So how did you two meet? You must have known each other for a while to be so comfortable with each other." She asked politely while ignoring Sasha's tormenting of Micah. "We actually just met last week, during the entrance exam." He said, dodging another attempt from Sasha, who tried to pat his hair.

"He couldn't take his eyes off of me~" Sasha purred as she enjoyed seeing his face as he blushed. Yaoyorozu smiled at their antics as the door slammed open and a blonde-headed boy walked in.

He glared at them and said nothing as he took his seat. The other ignored him as slowly more and more people filtered in. Already, Micah was having a conversation with a boy with spikey red hair named Eijiro Kirishima, while Sasha was busy gossiping with a pink-skinned girl.

All the while, everyone ignored the blonde and black-haired boys arguing loudly at the front. The black-haired boy, Tenya Ida, had already introduced himself to the rest of the class before going to argue with the blonde.

'I knew he was a square from the show, but this is something else.' Micah felt dizzy seeing Ida's robotic movements as he kept trying to get Bakugo to take his feet off his desk, when the door opened again. Other than hearing Bakugo scream at him, Micah didn't hear much of what Izuku was saying until another, more tired voice cut through the noise.

"If you're here to make friends, go ahead and leave." Everything froze as what looked like a giant yellow caterpillar crawled into the room and stood up at the teacher's desk. 'It has a man's face.' The class thought that before a zipper was heard, the sleeping bag fell to the floor. 'It IS a man!'

"It took you nearly 30 seconds to shut up, so let's not waste any more time. I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa." He said as he fished something out of his bag and held it up, it was a gym uniform. "Go put these on the meet me at the playground. Be quick about it."

The class scrambled to the locker rooms as everyone hurried to change. Already, Micah noticed a few students missing from Cannon, specifically Mineta and Koda. He was almost done pulling his shirt over his head when Kirishima said something.

"Nice tattoo, man, it looks so manly!" He said, as a few agreed, to my confusion. "What tattoo?" I asked as Kirishima took a picture on his phone and showed me. Just as he said, there was a tattoo on my back, a pair of flaming wings that were right where mine would emerge from.

I took a moment to appreciate the wings before giving him his phone back as we hurried to the playground. Aizawa was already waiting for us when we got there, sipping on what looked like a juice box as the rest of the class gathered.

"Alright, now that you're all here, we can begin. Today we're going to have a quirk apprehension test. This is so that I can see how far along you are with your quirk and where I need to start teaching you from."

A girl with brown hair and bright pink spots on her cheeks raised her hand. "Excuse me, Aizawa-Sensei. Aren't we supposed to be at the opening ceremony right now?" He rolled his eyes at her question but still answered.

"You're training to be heroes, you don't have time for ceremonies. U.A prides itself on freedom, which means we teachers can teach our class however we see fit. If you can't handle missing a simple welcoming ceremony, go ahead and quit."

Seeing no more hands, Aizawa turned his attention to me, "Micah Hall, you placed first in the entrance exam. Step into the circle." All eyes turned to me as I walked into the circle, and he handed me a ball.

"How far can you throw a ball?" I did the rough math in my head before answering. "Around 15 meters." He nodded as he pulled out a tablet. "I want you to throw that ball as hard as you can, use your quirk as well."

I gave the ball a look before taking out my wings. I heard a few whispers at that, but ignored them as I thought about how to throw the fall as far as I could. Getting an idea, I threw the ball straight up into the air with one hand while making a fireball with the other.

As the ball came back down, I compressed the ball as much as I could and released it right as the ball reached me, blasting it away. The ball soared through the air before finally landing as Aizawa held up the screen, 700 meters.

"Wow, that's so cool!" A pink-skinned girl squealed as pink cheeks agreed, "Yeah, it looks like fun!" Aizawa's head snapped to them after that word. "You think this is fun? Alright then, whoever comes in last place will be judged to have no heroic potential and will be expelled."

The class froze at that. "WHAT?!" Pink girl yelled as even Yaoyorozu looked surprised. "That's not fair! You can't expel us on the first day!" Pink cheeks complained as Aizawa rolled his eyes.

"Life isn't fair. Natural disasters and villains aren't fair. This school is made to push you past your limits. If you thought the next three years were going to be easy, you are sorely mistaken. Do your best, because if you don't, your hero career will be over with before you know it."

The others were shocked into action as the next round of tests followed. The next test was the 50-meter dash. I did pretty well on this one, ranking behind Ida at 5.03 seconds. The more interesting part was seeing everyone else use their quirks to pass the test.

One girl who looked to have frog features jumped to the end. Sasha also did great with her race, finishing at 6 seconds. "You're staring, Micah-San." Yaoyorozu coughed as I flared my wings. "I have no idea what you're talking about," I said as she arched a brow.

Pink girl grinned behind Yaoyorozu, who was trying to hide her smirk. "What?" I asked when I felt someone run their fingers up my spine. "I hope you enjoyed the view, tiger~" Sasha purred behind me as my face flared bright red.

I shot Yaoyorozu a glare before Sasha spun me around. "Hey there." She grinned as Aizawa cleared his throat, and she pouted. "He won't keep you safe forever." She whispered in my ear as my legs felt like jelly, barely hanging on as the next round of tests started.

The grip strength test was another simple one; just squeeze the machine, and it gives you a number. Mine maxed out at 105.3 kg, not bad, but nothing compared to the big guy with six arms it was nothing. His result was a whopping 540 kg.

By far the easiest was the standing long jump; all I had to do was jump and then fly across the sandpit. Several others, like Shoto, did the same; the explosion guy did great with that test.

The other tests just flew by, though I did try my best. They included a side-to-side jump, long distance run, a seated toe touch, and sit-ups. Before long, we finally got back around to the ball throw.

Most found interesting ways to launch the ball as far as possible. Shoto and Yaoyorozu created things using their quirks to launch the ball far; a boy with a tail and frog girl used their bodies to launch the ball.

Pink cheeks girl did the best, though, removing gravity from the ball, making it go all the way to infinity. The last two to go were explosion boy and a nervous kid with green hair and freckles.

"DIE!" The boy yelled as the ball went flying into the sky, netting him a nice 705.2 meters. 'Man, I know he always said it in the show. It's kinda getting annoying.' Bakugo glared at everyone as he stalked back to his spot, as Izuku stepped up to the circle.

I watched as he pulled his arm back and threw the ball the shortest distance ever. "W-what! I thought I was using my quirk?" He cried as Aizawa spoke up, "I erased your quirk. Every time you use your quirk, you break limbs. You are useless without it, and become a liability after one use.

What's the point of you going out to save other people if you can't even save yourself? How many people are going to die because you destroyed your body after one fight?"

Izuku looked ready to sob as Aizawa tore into him, before he finally stopped. "You have one chance. Prove to me that you can grow beyond this weakness and become a true hero. Go plus Ultra."

Izuku calmed himself as much as he could as his mind raced to figure out how he could get through this. "Tch, quirkless trash." Bakugo spat as Micah turned to him, "Shut it, boom boy." Bakugo turned to face him when a boom sounded out. Izuku threw the ball a second time.

The entire class watched the ball sail through the air in stunned silence until it finally landed, as Aizawa turned the tablet towards them. 705.3 meters. "I did it! I'm still standing!" Izuku declared through his tears as he cradled his shattered finger.

"DEKU!" Bakugo screamed as he lunged forward, only for him to get wrapped up in capture tape by Aizawa. "Enough, another outburst from you and you're out." He hissed as Bakugo calmed down.

"Alright, this is the list of where you placed. Learn from this, it'll help you grow." Aizawa said as a holographic list popped up.
