Families assembled towards the woman dressed as a saintess as she began to explain what this awakening process was all about.
She carefully explained and touched every aspect she believed would be of interest to the people listening to her.
The lady explained that the awakening ceremony would be taking place in the next room where children would walk down the stairs of a large pool underneath, before ascending the stairs at the opposite end of the pool.
She covered what the monolith was and what it would do, then she explained what class awakening meant, and what to expect if nothing happened, along with why the guild representatives were here.
Once she had touched all these topics, she gently requested for the candidates to follow behind her.
"Follow me, please." She said and the children began to say their goodbyes to their families before trailing behind her.
Mara placed a hand on Jason's shoulder before giving him a nod that said everything will be alright and his family would remain here awaiting his return.
Jason nodded in response before waving goodbye to everyone else as he followed the rest of the children into the other room.
The guild representatives followed the children as well and the moment everyone had entered the room, the names started being called.
They called each child one by one alphabetically and Jason watched each person walk up to the large rectangular-shaped pool in the center of the room.
Each child descended down the stairs of the pool before walking underwater, all the way to the opposite side of the pool, then they walked out and placed their hands on the monolith at the far end of the room.
The monolith was carved with writings and letters of a language Jason couldn't read from where he stood.
However, the moment the first child placed his hand on the monolith, the words on the smooth surface began to glow before peeling off of the monolith to hover above the stone platform.
The letters slowly began to change into words everyone could now read and understand, and a smile appeared on the girl's face when she read the words out loud.
"Fire Mage with 812 mana capacity." She muttered happily and the saintess who had given the speech earlier walked closer to the young girl.
"Congratulations, young lady. You've awakened a really good class."
"Thank you, Saintess, but what about my mana capacity. Is it good?"
"Yes, dear. It is high enough to get you recruited into a good guild. Congratulations once again."
The young girl beamed and bowed respectfully before making her way towards an opposite door at the far end of the room.
Jason also noticed how four different female guild representatives instantly followed the young girl out of the room.
'A Fire Mage huh.' Jason muttered to himself.
The Fire Mage class was a very powerful combat hunter class and since the young girl had a really good amount of mana capacity, it made sense why so many guild representatives wanted her in their guild.
Moving on, more children stepped into the pool, touched the monolith, and discovered their fates as well.
A young boy awakened a support class called "Dual Cultivator" with an ether capacity of 800.
The boy grinned happily as seven female guild representatives chased after him while he walked out of the room.
From the look on his face, it was easy to see that the young lad had awakened the class he had always wanted.
In this world, classes were divided into three categories.
Combat classes, Non-combat classes and Support classes.
Most females aim for combat classes like Ice Mage, Fire Mage, Wind Mage, Archer, Beast Tamer, Lancer and so many more while most males, if lucky enough to awaken, aim for classes under the Support class category like Scout, Healer, Dual Cultivator, Sensor and Craft Master.
But out of all the support classes available, awakening the Dual Cultivator path was far better than the rest because of the wealth and pleasure that comes with it.
These men will be personally or publicly proposed to by powerful female hunters of their guilds who would have them simply because of what their ether would provide in return.
In this world, females awaken mana along with their classes, allowing them to easily use mana however they wanted, while males awaken ether mainly for the purpose of supporting the females they may end up with.
It's the reason why males are known for always awakening a support class or non-combat class rather than a regular combat class.
The kind of support female hunters receive from male hunters can be in different ways though.
It could be direct support in terms of assistance in combat or it could be as a battery in terms of nightly activities.
Anyways, no male had ever awakened a combat type class before.
They only ever awakened a support class or non-combat classes, with most males leaning towards the former rather than the latter.
This was the reason why seven female guild representatives had chased after that young man.
In their eyes, they had struck gold, so it would be an honour to be the agent of such a future great support-class hunter.
Moving on, Jason watched as other children awakened their own classes, but an even higher number of them couldn't awaken anything.
They could only have their backs slumped in disappointment as they returned back to their families and homes.
Seeing all these, Jason couldn't help but feel worried about what his fate might be.
Yes, he had stated earlier that he was not under any pressure to feel bothered about what today's outcome might be, but after watching over ten children touch the monolith, only to discover they wouldn't be awakening a class, even Jason couldn't help but feel a little worried.
"Winchester?"
"Huh?"
"Jason Winchester. Please, step forward." The saintess uttered calmly as she directed him to do the same thing every other child had been doing before him.
Jason gulped slowly and gently walked into the pool.
Upon entering the pool, Jason closed his eyes a bit, along with his mouth.
But then he slowly began to open them, and he realised he could actually see clearly underwater.
So, he walked forward steadily as he realised he could also breathe safely as well.
The water didn't even seem like it was soaking his clothes, and it didn't seem to be entering his nose or ears either.
Realising all these, Jason hastened his steps before stepping out of the pool to touch the monolith, just like everyone had done before him.
And the moment he placed his hand on the monolith, the letters on the stone began to glow before peeling out of the monolith to hover above his head.
Then they slowly rearranged themselves to form a string of words above the platform.
PET TAMER.
