Cherreads

Chapter 7 - 07. Departure.

Jason could see how intent she was trying to help him become a really good Pet Tamer and from what he had heard as well, it seemed like he was also her first ever client.

Well, he'll become her first ever client if he were to agree to having her as his agent.

Looking more closely at her stunning figure and her cute freckles along her nose and cheeks, Jason could see how young she was as an agent.

To be honest, she seemed a little older than his elder sister, but that wasn't important right now.

"Even if I do become a Pet Tamer and I get to treat injured or ill pets, I have a really low ether capacity, so won't this hinder my chances of attracting good customers?"

"No, it doesn't. Leave that to me. As your agent, I'll do my best to make sure you get jobs and requests that won't drain you too much beyond your capacity."

Jason stayed quiet before asking. "Don't Pet Tamers earn money from entering towers? Can't I just enter a tower, fight and earn money?"

"You can but it's not advisable because most male ether isn't suitable for combat in the Pet Guild. The ethers of the males I've seen so far are only suitable for either healing a pet or simply lifting small objects around, and nothing more."

"So, there's never been a Pet Tamer venturing into the tower?"

"Actually there is. But she spent the last twenty years training her body to survive in the harsh environment of the tower and right now she's a rank three hunter. However, Pet Tamers aren't suitable for combat unlike Beast Tamers, so many who had tried to follow in that rank three hunter's path only ended up dead. It's best to just stick to your strength and prioritise improving that strength every single day."

Jason remained silent as he juggled the chances he had right now.

With everything he had heard so far about this Pet Tamer class, he discovered the Pet Tamer class is not really a good class to have in terms of what he had initially hoped to achieve with his Livestreaming system.

Based on what he knew about the class, a Pet Tamer's job is to simply tame pets they might find on rare expeditions into a gate before bringing them back to the city to sell for profit.

Since these pets were already away from the gates they were brought from, anyone could easily raise them because they were already docile and easy to approach.

In other words, there was nothing really special about being a Pet Tamer.

The only redeeming factor they had initially was that their mana (in terms of female Pet Tamers) and ethers (in terms of male Pet Tamers) were naturally attuned to healing these pets if injured.

However, even a simple healer from a different guild could easily do something as mundane as that.

And so, in a nutshell, Pet Tamers were growing increasingly redundant and useless with their only main source of income coming from any pets retrieval mission they might get from any gate appearing close to their guild.

Jason stayed quiet even more as he pondered deeply on what to do next.

Going back home and hoping that a miracle somehow comes his way was totally out of the question.

Moreover, maybe his class wasn't entirely useless as he had thought, because if a female Pet Tamer can venture into a tower on her own, who's to say he couldn't do the same?

'But others have tried before me, will I really be able to do it?' Jason uttered in his thoughts.

'Yeah, I should be able to do it.'

'No, I will be able to do it.'

'I refuse to be a little wuss.' Jason tightened his fist as he made up his mind on what he would do.

Meanwhile, Rachel could see him clenching his fist and a look of worry filled her face.

"It's fine if you do not want to join our guild. I'll just..."

"When can I join?"

"Huh?.. Pardon?"

Jason turned towards her and asked again. "I said when can I join?"

Hearing this, Rachel's eyes instantly sparkled and her tail wagged happily behind her as she shifted even closer to him. "Y-yes. You're free to join anytime you want. But honestly, the sooner you do, the better it will be for the both of us."

Jason nodded in understanding, and the two of them chatted a bit more.

Time passed and Jason finally turned around to walk toward where his family had been awaiting his arrival.

Upon arriving, he noticed everyone was still on the same bench where he had left them.

Meanwhile, the ceremony was still going on in the temple hall but the moment Lily noticed him approaching, everyone lifted their heads toward Jason's direction before hurrying toward him.

"So? How was it?" Mara asked as she instantly approached him first with Roland's other wives trailing behind her.

"Were you able to awaken a class?" Seline asked.

"What type?" Cora asked as well.

"Will you be..." Lily was about to ask hers, but her father's voice interrupted her and everyone else from saying anything.

"Everyone please. Calm down and let's allow Jason to speak."

Jason smiled and thanked his father before his face turned serious as he answered Seline's question.

"Yes, I have awakened a class."

Hearing this, everyone gasped in surprise.

"Really?"

"For real?"

"Are you serious right now?"

"Tell me you're not joking. Please, tell me you're not joking."

Jason smiled as he noticed how dramatic his family was right now while asking these questions.

Jason slowly nodded and assured them that he had truly awakened a class.

Hearing this, his family instantly lifted their hands to the air in celebration.

For the first time ever, someone had finally awakened a class in their house, so it made sense why everyone in the Winchester household felt ecstatic right now.

"What type of class did you awaken?" Jason's little sister, Pip, asked and everyone turned silent as they faced him.
