Chapter 6 - 06. Agent.

"Pet Tamer?" Jason repeated the words with a slightly confused look on his face.

He had never heard about the class before and neither did he know anything about it.

From what he could guess though, it seemed similar to that of a Beast Tamer.

'The class is similar to a Beast Tamer right?' He uttered in his thoughts, hoping he was right because only female hunters were known to awaken the Beast Tamer class.

So if his class was similar to a Beast Tamer class then it meant that he could be the first ever combat-typed male hunter the world had ever seen.

Concluding on this thought, Jason hurriedly turned his gaze at the female agents standing on the other side of the room.

By now if a hunter had awakened a class, at least two or three female guild representatives would have hurried toward the children in eagerness to bring them to their guilds.

However, to Jason's surprise, not a single agent rushed toward him.

They all remained still, not bothering to step toward him.

In fact, looking closely, they seemed to be snickering.

Jason's brows creased in confusion as he wondered what could be so funny to them.

Was it because of his class?

Or was it because of the ether capacity that accompanied it?

Jason stared at the glowing words again and his gaze landed on his ether capacity. "101 ether capacity."

Jason muttered once again but the saintess's words dragged his attention back to her.

"Congratulations, young man. You've awakened a really good class." She announced steadily, trying not to be distracted by the murmuring and snickering happening behind her.

"Is it really a good class? Because it seems like everyone is..."

"There are no bad classes, my dear." She interrupted shortly and continued. "Yours is just on a side where there are more females in them than males." The saintess assured him with a professional smile.

Out of all the available support-class types, Craft Masters and Pet Tamers have been the only two classes where female hunters with weak mana find themselves being awakened with.

There have been a few male hunters awakening these classes too in the past, but there are a lot fewer of them than the more suitable classes which were Healer, Scout, Sensor, Buffer, Dual Cultivator and a few others.

"But what about my ether capacity, isn't it too low?" Jason asked with an anxious look on his face but the saintess simply smiled professionally as she sensed the worry in his tone.

"My dear, you're a good-looking young man. So you have nothing to worry about. I'm sure everything will work out just fine even with the amount of ether you have within you." The saintess answered subtly before asking him to go to the next room.

Jason noticed how the saintess hadn't really answered his question and he still had a lot of other questions left, but since there were still a lot of other children yet to complete their awakening, Jason could see why the saintess was hurrying to attend to the next candidate.

And so, Jason stepped down from the platform and walked toward the next door, but he glanced behind him once again and as expected, not a single agent seemed interested in asking him to join their guild.

'Seriously, is my class really that useless?' Jason muttered in his thoughts before hearing a voice calling out to him.

"Please! Jason! Please wait!" The voice shouted softly as she tried to squeeze through the hundreds of other agents around her.

Jason stopped walking and turned around once again to see a petite young woman with orange hair and green eyes hurrying toward him.

The young lady was about 162cm tall but what really caught Jason's attention was her small cat ears above her head and the long cat tail behind her back.

Terra was a world that had humans, beastkins and a few other races of people living together in it, so it wasn't really surprising to see a catkin in person.

Anyways, Jason calmed himself as he noticed the lanyard around her neck the moment she got close to him, still breathing heavily.

"Thank you so much for waiting. You're Jason Winchester, right?" She asked, still trying to catch her breath.

"Yes, I am."

"Hi, my name is Rachel Pennington. I'm with The Pet Guild and I'd like to talk to you about your options." Rachel held out her hand and shook his in a firm, direct handshake.

"Would you like to step outside with me so we can find a good place to sit and talk?" Rachel asked whilst still breathing heavily as she gestured outside for them to talk.

Jason turned slowly to the other female guild representatives who had already drifted their attention away from him and were already focused on the next awakening candidate about to place her hand on the monolith.

Seeing this, Jason sighed softly and returned his gaze back to Rachel.

"So, what do you think? Shall we head out and talk?" Rachel asked once again and Jason nodded in response.

"Alright, let's talk."

Rachel smiled and the two stepped out of the awakening hall.

Upon stepping out, the two found a place to sit outside on a low stone wall while the ceremony continued inside.

Right now, Rachel was holding a small folder of printed materials about the Pet Guild.

It contained things Jason would like to know, like the membership structure, the training program, the mission types and the possible income potential as well.

Jason listened to everything explained to him, and Rachel continued, trying her best to be as honest as she could possibly be.

Once done, Jason couldn't help but ask what had been bothering him since he had awakened his class.

"Um, why exactly were the other female agents laughing at the class I awakened?"

Rachel's smile suddenly turned upside down as she tucked a few strands of hair behind her ears.

"Actually, the thing is, unlike many other guilds in the world, the Pet Guild is the only guild type you'll ever see that doesn't have a branch or a sister guild working in cooperation with us."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean the work of a Pet Tamer is unglamorous and the income of a rookie Pet Tamer is low, like really low, but it does get better with the more experience you get and the more customers you attend to." Rachel explained and she could see the disappointed look on his face.

"But don't worry. If you become my first client, I'll do my best to make sure you get a lot of customers requesting your assistance in attending to their pets, and I'll do my best to make sure you get a lot more offers than any other rookie Pet Tamer."
