The moment the man smiled…
Amina knew something was wrong.
Not just wrong.
Dangerous.
Her body froze. She couldn't move, couldn't even speak.
That smile… it wasn't normal. It felt cold. Empty.
"Found you."
The man took a step inside the room.
Adam moved instantly.
He stepped in front of Amina without even thinking.
"Stay behind me," he said quietly.
His voice was calm… but his eyes were sharp.
Amina's heart was beating so fast she thought she might pass out again.
"Who… is he?" she whispered.
Adam didn't look back.
"Someone you should never trust."
The man laughed softly.
"Still protecting her, Adam?"
Amina's eyes widened.
He knows him…
Adam's jaw tightened.
"You shouldn't be here."
"And yet… here I am."
The man closed the door behind him slowly.
Click.
That small sound made Amina's stomach drop.
No escape.
"Let's not make this complicated," the man said, walking closer.
"Give her to me."
Amina grabbed Adam's sleeve without realizing.
Her fingers were shaking.
Adam didn't move.
"No."
The answer was simple.
Cold.
Final.
Silence filled the room for a second.
Then—
The man sighed.
"You always make things harder than they should be."
His eyes shifted to Amina.
She felt like she couldn't breathe.
"Do you even know what you are?" he asked her.
Amina shook her head slowly.
"I… I don't…"
He smiled again.
"Of course you don't."
Before anyone could react—
He moved.
Fast.
Too fast.
Amina gasped.
But Adam was faster.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"RUN!"
Everything happened in seconds.
Amina didn't think.
She just ran.
Out of the room.
Into the corridor.
Her heart was pounding so loud she couldn't hear anything else.
"Wait—!"
A loud noise came from behind her.
Something crashed.
People started shouting.
"What's happening?!"
"Security!"
But Amina didn't stop.
She kept running.
Her mind was blank.
Only one word repeating in her head—
Run.
She reached the stairs.
Her legs were shaking.
She grabbed the railing to stay up.
"Adam…"
Where was he?
Should she go back?
No.
He told her to run.
But leaving him there…
didn't feel right.
Before she could decide—
Footsteps.
Coming fast.
From behind.
Her heart dropped.
"No…"
She turned.
The man.
Standing at the end of the corridor.
Looking at her.
Still smiling.
"Running won't help."
Amina stepped back.
Her breathing was out of control now.
"Stay away from me!"
He started walking toward her.
Slow.
Confident.
Like he already won.
"You don't understand yet," he said.
"You can't escape who you are."
Tears filled her eyes.
"I don't even know what that means!"
"You will."
He got closer.
Closer.
Too close.
Amina's back hit the wall.
No way out.
"No…"
She closed her eyes for a second.
This is it.
But then—
A hand grabbed her arm.
Strong.
Warm.
"Move!"
Adam.
He pulled her with him.
They ran down the stairs together.
Fast.
Without stopping.
Amina almost slipped, but he held her.
"Don't look back!" he said.
"I can't run anymore—"
"You have to!"
They reached the ground floor.
People everywhere.
Confused.
Panicking.
Adam didn't stop.
He pulled her outside.
Into the rain again.
Cold air hit her face.
She gasped.
"Where are we going?!"
"Somewhere safe."
"Is there even a safe place?!"
He didn't answer.
They kept running.
Through empty streets.
Through the rain.
Until finally—
He stopped.
Amina bent forward, trying to breathe.
"I… can't…"
Adam looked around quickly.
Then at her.
"You did well."
She looked up at him.
Her hair was wet. Her face tired.
But her eyes…
still searching for answers.
"Tell me the truth," she said.
"No lies."
Silence.
Rain falling between them.
Adam hesitated.
Then stepped closer.
Too close.
"You were never supposed to survive that accident."
Her heart stopped.
"What…?"
"And now…"
He looked into her eyes.
"They will do anything to finish what they started."
Amina felt fear again.
But this time—
Something else too.
Trust.
She didn't know why.
But she trusted him.
Just a little.
"Then don't leave me," she whispered.
Adam froze for a second.
Her words hit deeper than expected.
"I won't."
Simple.
Honest.
Real.
For the first time—
She felt a little safe.
Even in the rain.
Even in danger.
