Chapter 4 - The punishment you gave

Inside the office. Afternoon.

(Won and eun are working when an employee walks in and places a large stack of files on their desk.)

Employee: You two need to complete and review all these files today.

Won: So many files!

Employee: Yes, and you have to finish them today itself. I feel really bad for both of you. I wish I could help you out. Won: Thanks, but just wishing won't get anything done, will it?

Employee: True, you're right. So, get all the work done today, because there's a welcome party at the office tomorrow, right? If you finish the work today, you'll be able to attend the party.

Eun: Who is this welcome party for? And how did you find out about it?

Won: Wow, a welcome party! That sounds like fun-no matter who it's for.

Employee: It's for Mr. Kang and Mr. Park. I heard about it from our company's 'Gossip Club' (the rumor mill). Eun: Is this a welcome party for that grumpy kangaroo?

Won: Who is this "grumpy kangaroo"? Employee: I think you're talking about Mr. Kang, aren't you?

Eun: Yes, he's exactly who I'm talking about. He's so irritable and has such a short fuse. I just feel like... (Suddenly, Mr. Kang and Mr. Park walk in from behind them. Wan spots them.)

Won: eun, let's get back to work. Eun: What happened? Did Mr. Kang show up? Why are you so...

Won: Quiet! Oh-Boss!

Eun: (Turning around in a panic) Boss... you're here?

Mr. Kang: Am I not allowed to be here? And what exactly were you talking about? Employee: (Nervously) Alright then, I should get back to work. "There's still a lot of work left to do, isn't there? Alright, Boss."

Eun: (Stuttering) No, that's not it, Boss. I was talking about the work itself.

Park: Hey, you! I didn't tell you to sit here and eavesdrop. Do your job, got it?

Won: Yes, I *am* doing my job, Mr. Park... Mr. Park: Hey, what kind of attitude is that? I can hear your voice perfectly clearly.

Mr. Kang: Let it go, Park. Come on, let's go. We don't need to waste our time on her. Mr. Park: Fine, let's go-and you! Get back to work!

Won: What is his problem?

Eun: They'll be right in front of us. *Sigh*... Why are we sitting here? I've made up my mind: I'm not going to the party.

Won: Why? Please, don't let *them* stop you. Come for my sake; I really want to go to the party. (Making a cute face)

Eun: Alright, we'll deal with all that stuff later. Let's just finish this first. (Kang and Park enter the cabin. Chairman Kang is already sitting there, playing a video game.)

Mr. Park: Chairman, you...

Mr. Kang: What are *you* doing here? (Kang sits down in a chair.) Chairman: So, you two are here? Wait a minute-let me finish my score. I'm getting really close to my personal record. I'm going to break the record today!

Park: Chairman, you still play video games?

Chairman: Yes, there's no age limit for this sort of thing. Yes! Done! I broke the record! Anyway, so you two have just arrived. My apologies-I couldn't come downstairs to welcome you both personally. The thing is, my knees have been bothering me lately. Kang: Really, Dad?

Chairman: No. (Laughing) I just wanted to play my video game, so forget all that nonsense. Did you like everything here? Did you face any difficulties?

Park: I think Kang had a bit of an issue with someone.

Chairman: With whom?

Kang: With no one! You just keep quiet, understood?

Chairman: Tell me.

Park Jun: It's nothing, Chairman; I was just joking.

Chairman: Alright. (Just before the Chairman leaves) Oh, and one more thing: there's a party for the two of you tomorrow, so make sure you get some rest today.

Kang: There's no need to go to all that trouble. I don't care for these kinds of things.

Chairman: You may not care for it, but it is important-for me, and for the company.

Park: Chairman, please don't worry; I'll make sure to bring him along. (The Chairman steps out and addresses everyone)

Chairman: Listen up, everyone! There's a welcome party at the office tomorrow, and everyone is expected to attend. You're welcome to bring your partners or guests along if you wish, so make sure you wrap up all your work beforehand. (Everyone looks delighted and thanks the Chairman. They all start chatting amongst themselves: "Are you coming?" "What are you going to wear?")Eun: That grumpy Kang has dumped so much work on us that it'll be morning by the time we finish it all. I'm not coming to the party. I'll be absolutely exhausted after doing all this work. It's better to just rest at home-and besides, I don't even want to go to his party in the first place. Won: Eun, please don't do this! Come on, let's go to the party; it'll be fun. Please-do it for me! Honestly, I didn't want to go either, but since Chairman Kang insisted, we have no choice but to attend. So please, you have to come too! (Making a tearful face) Eun: Alright, fine. But stop making that face-it looks terrible!

Won: Yay! I won't make it anymore. Thank you, thank you! You're sacrificing your sleep just for my sake.

Eun: Don't get too excited just yet; we'll see how things go once we actually finish the work.

Won: No way! You said you'd come, so you absolutely have to be there!

Eun: Yeah, yeah.

[Inside]

LK Company. Afternoon.

Secretary Yoo Jung: May I come in, Boss?

Lee Min: Yes, come in.

Secretary Yoo Jung: Boss, I forgot to mention-there's a party tomorrow, and you've been invited.

Lee Min: I don't want to go.

Secretary Yoo Jung: Alright, Boss. Lee Min: Wait-whose party is it, anyway? Secretary Yoo Jung: It's a welcome party for Mr. Kang-the son of the Chairman of Mixxo Company.

Lee Min: Okay... wait a minute. I'll go to that party.

Secretary Yoo Jung: (Looking confused) Alright, Boss. (Lee Min thinks to himself: "Eun will be there, too."(And smiled))
