Kai stood still in the purple rain. The giant shadow beast roared in pain. The big spear in its side made black blood flow fast. Around it, the five Echo Hunters attacked without stopping.
The beast looked straight at Kai. Its many eyes seemed to beg or offer something.
**Tenth Echo detected. God-level quality.**
The pull was stronger than ever. It felt like a hand grabbing Kai's chest.
Lira held his arm tight. "Kai, do not move. This is a trap from Nyxar. If you take the tenth, the god wins."
Mira's eyes were wide with excitement. "But it looks so strong! One big card from that beast and we become super powerful!"
The leader of the Hunters noticed them. He pointed his sword at Kai. "Echo Thief! Stay back. This beast is ours. Its Echo will make us rich."
Kai's body shook. All nine Echoes inside him shouted at the same time.
Reginald: "Claim what is rightfully powerful!"
Jax: "Fight and take it!"
Shadow: "Sneak in and steal it quietly."
Blaze: "Burn the hunters and grab it!"
Gust: "Run fast and snatch it!"
Iron Fang: "Bite the beast and end this!"
Alpha Shadow: "Command the situation!"
Nyxar the god spoke deep and calm. **"This is your moment, little thief. Take the tenth Echo. We will become something greater than human. Together we can stop the other gods."**
Kai felt his feet move forward by themselves.
He stopped with great effort.
"I need to see my status," he said.
A blue screen appeared clearly in front of his eyes.

Kai read the words slowly. His hands felt cold.
Mira looked over his shoulder. "Wow, 92%! That is almost max. But the triple merge sounds cool!"
Lira's voice was urgent. "See? One more and Nyxar can take full control. You will not be Kai anymore."
The giant beast roared again. It swung its claws and killed one of the smaller beasts near it. The Hunters cheered and attacked harder.
The leader shouted, "Finish it! The Echo is almost free!"
Kai felt the pull again. The tenth Echo was so close. It promised strength, speed, and power to protect his friends.
But the status screen warning was clear.
He looked at Lira. Her eyes were worried but full of trust.
He looked at Mira. She held her cards ready, waiting for his decision.
Kai took a deep breath. "I choose… not to take it."
The words were hard to say. All the voices inside screamed "No!"
Nyxar became angry. **"Foolish boy! You reject power again? Then suffer the cost!"**
Pain hit Kai like a hammer. The god fragment pushed hard against the nine Echoes. Kai fell to one knee.
His mouth opened and voices came out mixed and loud:
"Take it!"
"No, run!"
"Burn them all!"
"Command the beast!"
Purple light flashed in his eyes for a second.
Lira quickly sent her silver threads around Kai. They glowed soft and pushed the god voice back a little.
"Fight it, Kai!" she said. "You are stronger than the voices."
Mira threw three cards at the Hunters. Explosions pushed them back. "Leave our friend alone!"
The giant beast saw its chance. It broke free from the Hunters and ran straight toward Kai.
The beast was dying fast, but it still had power. It raised one big claw to attack.
Kai stood up with Lira's help. He ignored the pain and mixed three powers quickly — wind dash, shadow step, and stone skin.
He became a fast, hard shadow and moved in front of the beast.
Instead of killing it, he pushed it back gently with a stone-hard hand.
"Go," he said in a mix of voices. "Run away. Do not die here."
The beast looked at him with surprise. Then it turned and ran into the dark forest, the spear still in its side.
The Hunters got angry.
The leader shouted, "You let it escape! Now we take your Echoes instead!"
They charged at Kai's group.
Kai felt weak from fighting the god, but he still moved.
He used triple merge for the first time — wind + fire + shadow claw.
His hand became a spinning burning dark claw. He slashed at the leader.
The hunter blocked with his sword, but the force sent him flying.
Mira threw card after card. "Take this! And this! Collect your own defeat!"
Lira tied two hunters with her threads and pulled them to the ground.
The fight was short but hard.
In the end, the five hunters ran away into the trees. They were hurt and cursing Kai's name.
The forest became quiet again. Only purple rain fell.
Kai dropped to the ground. His breathing was heavy.
Lira knelt beside him. "You did it. You chose not to take the tenth Echo. I am proud of you."
Mira sat next to him. "Yeah… but that beast got away. No big card for me."
Kai smiled weakly. "Sorry, Mira. Maybe next time."
He checked his status again. The screen appeared clearly.

Lira helped him stand. "Yes. We leave at first light. The camp has old magic that can weaken god fragments."
Mira picked up some dropped hunter weapons. "At least we got some loot!"
They went back inside the safe house.
Kai lay on the bed. The voices were loud again, but he felt a small win.
He had said no to the tenth Echo.
But he knew the giant beast was still out there, dying slowly.
And the tenth Echo was still waiting for him.
Nyxar whispered one last time before Kai slept. **"You delayed it today. But you cannot run forever. The tenth will find you… or you will find it."**
Kai closed his eyes.
Tomorrow would bring more choices.
And the storm in the sky was getting bigger.
