Chapter 18: Hypnosis Victory
After explaining a few things, Yaoyorozu Momo seemed completely confident in Uchiha Izuna. Without even creating a detailed battle plan, she headed downstairs alone.
Izuna leaned against the large metal container beside him and monitored Momo's movements through the wireless headset.
"BOOM!!!"
Suddenly, a loud explosion burst through the earpiece, followed by a sharp crackle of electricity.
"Did the equipment break?" Izuna muttered as he stood up and pressed a button on the headset.
"Momo, can you hear me?"
"I'm fine," Momo replied, though her voice sounded slightly embarrassed. "One of them came upstairs. Be careful."
"…Sorry. It seems the battle plan failed."
"…You never told me there was a battle plan," Izuna said dryly as he stretched.
"Let them come."
"Zzzzz—"
Just as he finished speaking, a burst of electricity appeared in front of him.
Then Kaminari Denki's confident voice rang out.
"The nuclear weapon is mine!"
"BOOM!!!"
The next second, the door exploded open. Debris scattered everywhere as dust filled the room and blocked Izuna's view.
"You want this piece of metal?" Izuna's eyes suddenly turned scarlet.
"Then you'll have to go through me first."
His figure vanished instantly.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of Kaminari and punched him in the stomach.
"Bang!"
"Ugh—!"
Kaminari grabbed his stomach in pain.
But after a moment, he realized something strange.
The punch… didn't actually hurt as much as he expected.
As the dust cleared, Kaminari saw Izuna standing calmly beside him with his arms folded.
"I know your Quirk is hypnosis," Kaminari said as he lowered his head and braced himself.
"And I guess the condition for activating it is eye contact."
He tightened his grip on the metal container.
"So I just won't look at your eyes!"
Izuna didn't respond.
He simply stood there silently as Kaminari picked up the nuclear weapon.
"We win!" Kaminari shouted excitedly.
But—
The bell signaling the end of the exercise did not ring.
"Huh?"
Kaminari blinked and pressed the button on his headset.
"Jiro-chan?"
"There are still three minutes left," Izuna said calmly as he walked over and sat down nearby.
"Want to chat?"
"…Wait."
Kaminari's pupils shrank.
"Uchiha… I never looked into your eyes. Then how did your hypnosis—?"
"Who said you had to look into my eyes?" Izuna asked with a faint smile.
"From the moment you walked in and saw me…"
"You had already lost."
Meanwhile, in the control room, All Might and the other students watched Kaminari standing motionless on the monitor.
"…Is that hypnosis?" Bakugo Katsuki muttered, staring at the screen in disbelief.
"How the hell did Uchiha do that? Doesn't hypnosis require some kind of medium?"
"The medium should normally be eye contact," All Might said thoughtfully as he rubbed his chin.
"But the Kaminari boy never looked at his eyes."
"…That's strange."
As time continued to pass, Kaminari struggled within the illusion.
No matter what method he tried, he couldn't escape.
Finally—
The bell signaling the end of the exercise rang.
The villain team had successfully protected the nuclear weapon.
Victory belonged to Uchiha Izuna and Yaoyorozu Momo.
"It's over."
Inside the illusion, Izuna snapped his fingers.
The entire scene shattered instantly.
Back in reality, Kaminari blinked in confusion.
He rubbed his eyes and looked around.
Nothing had changed.
Except for one thing—
He had been standing at the doorway the entire time without moving.
"…What kind of Quirk is this?" Kaminari sighed helplessly.
"Uchiha, if what you said in the illusion is true… doesn't that make your Quirk almost impossible to understand?"
"Probably," Izuna replied with a small smile.
"I'll head back first."
After that, the other teams continued their matches in an orderly manner.
By 3:30 in the afternoon, all combat exercises had finished.
Except for Izuku Midoriya, who had been seriously injured, the rest of the class only suffered minor injuries—or none at all.
For some inexplicable reason, All Might ended the Hero Fundamentals class earlier than usual that day.
As a result, Class 1-A returned to their classroom and continued studying until five o'clock before going home.
Over the next few days, U.A. High School and the entire country remained peaceful.
Nothing major happened.
The only noteworthy event was that reporters somehow discovered that All Might was teaching at U.A..
Soon after, journalists surrounded the school, even triggering the security alarm system.
The teachers were forced to firmly refuse interviews and come up with various excuses for why All Might wasn't present.
Eventually, the situation settled down.
Today's Hero Fundamentals class was slightly different.
Three teachers were present at the same time:
Aizawa Shouta, All Might, and another instructor.
Aizawa stood at the podium, his eyes as tired and bloodshot as ever.
"Today's lesson will be rescue training during natural disasters such as floods and other accidents."
The classroom immediately erupted with noise.
Some students were nervous.
Others were excited.
"Quiet. I'm not finished yet."
Aizawa tapped the desk lightly.
"This time you can choose your own equipment and clothing."
"Some costumes are better suited for specific rescue situations."
"The training facility is located quite far from here," he continued.
"We'll take a bus to get there shortly."
"That's all. Start preparing."
"OH!!!"
