Chapter 22: Nomu's Target
"This—!"
Tomura Shigaraki was about to turn around, but the cold touch of a dagger against his waist made him stop instantly.
"What exactly is your Quirk?" he asked sharply.
"Didn't you investigate the students' Quirks before invading?" Uchiha Izuna replied coldly.
"Or were you simply too confident in your own strength?"
"Who are you really?" Shigaraki asked, his eyes filled with hostility.
That calmness—It wasn't something a normal student should have.
Could he be an undercover agent sent by some unknown organization?
The more Shigaraki thought about it, the more convinced he became.
"Our goal today is All Might," Shigaraki said quietly.
"Don't you care about the lives of the other students?"
"Your Quirk may be strong," he continued with a malicious grin.
"But what about them?"
"If I give the order right now…"
"Nomu will kill them all."
"Nomu might not be your opponent," Shigaraki added confidently.
"But that doesn't mean he can't defeat the others."
"Oh," Izuna said casually, spinning the dagger in his hand as he released Shigaraki.
"To be honest, I don't really care whether they live or die."
"But…"
"They can't die right now."
"This creature," Shigaraki said proudly, glancing at Nomu, "was created specifically to fight All Might."
"Even All Might would struggle to break its defense."
"I know it can absorb shock," Izuna said with a faint smile.
"But didn't I just kick it away?"
The blue skeletal aura surrounding him gradually faded.
Shigaraki's eyes narrowed slightly.
So he can't maintain that state for long…
At least, that was Shigaraki's assumption.
Now's my chance.
Shigaraki rushed forward instantly.
In his mind, Izuna's ability to "teleport" must be connected to the blue skeleton.
Now that it had disappeared—
He shouldn't be able to move like that anymore.
But just as Shigaraki was about to grab him—
Izuna vanished.
Completely.
"…Huh?"
Shigaraki nearly stumbled forward when he missed.
He stared at the empty space in disbelief.
He can teleport even without the blue skeleton?
Then what exactly is his Quirk?
Shigaraki's thoughts fell into chaos.
Meanwhile—
At the USJ entrance, Kurogiri and several villains were locked in a standoff with Aizawa Shouta and Thirteen.
The only student who had not been teleported away was Tenya Iida.
His Quirk, Engine, allowed him to achieve incredible speed.
He was the only one capable of breaking through the gate and reaching outside heroes for help.
"Iida," Aizawa said while continuing to fight the villains pouring out of the portal.
"When we create an opening against Kurogiri…"
"You run for the exit."
"Understood!" Iida shouted, though his body trembled with nervousness.
"ROAR!!!"
Suddenly—
A massive figure with an exposed brain charged into the battlefield.
It ignored Iida entirely and rushed straight toward Aizawa and Thirteen at terrifying speed.
"Teacher, be careful!" Iida shouted instinctively.
"What?" Aizawa turned his head slightly.
But in the next instant—
A massive hand filled his entire field of vision.
Nomu had grabbed him.
At that same moment—
Izuna appeared nearby.
He had arrived just in time to see Nomu capturing Aizawa.
"Tch."
In the blink of an eye, Izuna disappeared again.
When he reappeared—
Aizawa was already standing safely beside Iida.
"Ugh—!"
In front of them, Nomu's arm suddenly burst apart, spraying bright red blood across the ground.
"Uchiha!" Iida exclaimed in relief.
"Are you alright? Didn't they capture you?"
Before Izuna could answer—
Kurogiri, watching from a distance, froze in shock.
"…You?"
His gaze immediately shifted toward Tomura Shigaraki on the high platform.
Seeing that Shigaraki was still there and unharmed, Kurogiri quietly relaxed.
But confusion filled his mind.
Shigaraki is fine.
And yet the boy returned unharmed.
What happened between them?
For now, however—
Dealing with the battle in front of them was the priority.
The answers could wait until later.
