Chapter 27: The Illusion
Normally, even if Aizawa Shouta erased a Quirk like hypnosis, the affected person would regain awareness after a short time.
Seeing the expression in Aizawa's eyes, Uchiha Izuna could roughly guess what he was thinking.
"Don't worry," Izuna said calmly. "You're not under hypnosis."
"What exactly is going on?" Aizawa frowned, still on guard.
"Who are you?"
"I understand your doubts," Izuna replied. He closed his eyes briefly, and the blue skeletal aura around him disappeared. When he opened them again, his pupils had returned to normal.
"What do you mean?" Aizawa asked.
"From what happened during the invasion," Izuna said while raising two fingers, "their target was clearly All Might. And they knew our class schedule and training location."
"That means there are only two possibilities."
"First: they got extremely lucky."
"Second: they have someone inside U.A.."
Izuna smiled slightly.
"The first possibility is obviously impossible. No one would gamble on such low odds in an unprepared battle."
"So that leaves the second one."
He looked directly at Aizawa.
"But Aizawa-sensei, I'm not the spy you're thinking of."
Izuna's eyes turned scarlet again.
"You should already understand something from what happened earlier."
"If I wanted to kill you…"
"You would already be dead."
"And if I were on their side, why would I save the students—and even slaughter the villains?"
"That's because All Might wasn't here today, and you didn't know it," Aizawa replied coldly.
"In order to keep your cover, you sacrificed your own allies."
As he spoke, Aizawa tightened the cloth weapon around his shoulders, preparing to attack again.
"Aizawa-sensei," Izuna said calmly, "I already told you—if I wanted you dead, you wouldn't still be standing."
The three tomoe in his eyes suddenly merged into a single pattern.
"If you don't believe me…"
"Then try it yourself."
The moment Aizawa's gaze met Izuna's eyes—
The world suddenly changed.
The sky turned blood red.
A massive crimson moon hung overhead.
"Welcome," Izuna's voice echoed.
"...to my world."
His figure appeared directly in front of Aizawa without warning.
"What is this place?" Aizawa stepped back instinctively, feeling a strange pressure.
"As I said," Izuna replied calmly, spreading his arms, "this is my world."
"Everything here is under my control."
"No matter how long time passes here…"
"In the real world, it's only a moment."
Izuna smiled slightly.
"Do you remember the sludge villain incident?"
Aizawa narrowed his eyes.
"Do you know why that villain suddenly went insane?"
"…What did you do to him?"
"Nothing special," Izuna said lightly.
"I simply left him alone in a place where no one existed for a few days."
"That caused some mental damage."
Aizawa maintained his distance, his nerves completely tense.
"Even if you're not part of the League of Villains, you're definitely not ordinary."
"Tell me."
"Who are you?"
"And why did you come to U.A. High School?"
"Relax a little," Izuna said as he snapped his fingers.
Two wooden chairs suddenly appeared behind them.
Izuna casually sat down.
Aizawa remained standing.
"The reason I came to U.A.," Izuna said with a faint smile, "is because of a promise I made with someone."
"I'm just here to attend school."
"That's all."
"A promise?" Aizawa murmured.
Countless faces flashed through his mind—heroes, officials, and powerful figures.
What he couldn't possibly imagine was that the "someone" Izuna referred to was actually one of his own students—Yaoyorozu Momo.
"Even so," Aizawa said after a moment, "you just killed people."
"You understand that, right?"
"If I didn't kill them, they would have killed me," Izuna replied calmly.
"As a teacher, you should understand that."
"Heroes aren't allowed to kill people freely," Aizawa said firmly.
"You could have captured them instead."
"Rules exist to be broken," Izuna suddenly appeared in front of him and grabbed Aizawa's collar.
"Answer me."
"When life and death are on the line…"
"Is your companion's life more important?"
"Or your precious rules?"
"This society has its structure," Aizawa replied coldly.
"Heroes must act like heroes."
"Otherwise, what's the difference between you and a murderer?"
Izuna released him.
"I'm done arguing about meaningless ideals."
"You can report what I did to the police."
"But only if…"
He narrowed his eyes slightly.
"You—and this world—can handle the consequences."
Izuna knew Aizawa's beliefs were deeply rooted.
Words alone wouldn't change them.
"Are you threatening me?" Aizawa asked.
"You can think of it that way."
Izuna looked up at the blood-red moon.
"Can you imagine what would happen…"
"If I placed the entire world under hypnosis?"
Aizawa didn't answer.
He didn't know whether Izuna could truly do something like that.
But after witnessing hundreds of villains fall under his control earlier—
Aizawa knew one thing.
Even if Izuna couldn't hypnotize the whole world—
Creating a hypnotized army would be more than possible
