Chapter 10 - FINDING THE GREAT GATE

Splash Splash

A water droplet dripped from the cavern that Chris laid inside.

It was the closest place he had found to stay in for the night.

The cracks that spread through the walls made the moonlight shine through it, giving off a fair glow.

Chris couldn't sleep.

The thought of that celestial beast haunted his thoughts.

He grinned.

"Is it truly possible for a creature like that to obtain a celestial order?!", he always thought to himself.

The floating and the blue flames that surrounded the beast made Chris feel as though he wasn't fighting against any normal beast but a celestial one.

The appearance of the beast also made the idea of mutation another line in the book.

He didn't know any Celstial order that granted such powers that the beast possessed.

He still couldn't lose his guard.

Seeing that animal and the thoughts that followed next always gave him chills.

He couldn't stay in that cave for long, the days slowly counted.....he couldn't let any thought slow his pace.

At dawn, when a ray of sunlight hit the eyes of Chris, he immediately rose from where he lied down.

He had to act fast and acquire these enhancements before it was too late.

Chris continued strolling, just as he did when he first entered the Beckoning Hills.

He knew he hadn't made any progress until he sighted the Great Gate.

A gate that looked like it was made of pure gold.

It was given the name by the first people who ever stepped their legs onto the Beckoning Hills.

Four went in that faithful day.

Only one came back to tell the tale.

Chris already knew the dangers of this hill when he first obtained his celestial order.

Creatures completely unseen and undiscovered, as well as different celestial appearances scattered all around the hill.

It took a handful of steps before Chris noticed a faint glow of yellow glimmer ahead into the burning sun.

"That has to be the Great Gate", a gentle but faint smile appeared on the face of Chris.

This gate was always a sign of hope to whoever wanted to acquire a celestial order.

It made Chris know that he made progress even as he strolled along one of the most dangerous places in the world.

The Gate was still rarely visible.

It looked worn down.

Vines surrounded it's surface and the golden colour had been torn off in some certain areas.

Still, the glory of the gate couldn't be over emphasised.

It was found and discovered in the 1805 and had been there till date.

Still standing.

An incredible scenery.

Chris walked past the gate and could almost sense the air change as he walked passed.

A chill that could not be described.

It felt incredible.

Still, he couldn't hold his grudge.

The dangers ahead were for no feeble minded.

He knew that his goal lied at the near top of the hill.

Obtaining another celestial order.

If possible, even better than his Blue-White celestial appearance.

He looked up.

No short cuts, just pure grit.

Even he wasn't sure whether his luck would shine twice.

He walked to the burning field as it was famously called.

A place where you could feel the heat of the field from miles away.

Chris flinched.

He extended his blade.

The only way across this field was pure endurance.

No other way.

Chris walked closer to the field.

Every step burnt the sole of his feet.

His eyes struggled to stay open.

'Is it even possible to get past here?', Chris thought to himself.

The heat from that place seemed enough to cook a steak in seconds.

He understood the risks.

His next best option became to run past the place.

It seems like a stretch but it was all that Chris could think of.

He raised his blade and in an instant....took off.

"Ahhhhhhhhh", Chris shouted as he sprinted.

The field was two meters long, enough distance to sprint by in a matter of seconds.

His movements stopped once a realization hit him like a speeding car.

He stood on the burning field, but the heat emmited was not hot and steaming, but instead, it was warm and nice like a relaxing bath.

Chris couldn't contain the shock.

Before he entered the field, he couldn't even hold himself as he stood next to it.

In an instant, as he stood inside the burning field, he wondered where all that heat was blasting from.

No pains.

No burn marks.

He just stood there....his eyes danced as though he knew he had been played by the hill.

Beckoning Hills wasn't for the weak minded, not only in combat style but also in understanding and looking at the bigger picture.

Chris knew that if not for his determination, he would have immediately backed down once he noticed the heatwaves shooting from far away.

All of a sudden, he stood in the source and felt nothing.

He couldn't contain the shock as he slowly stepped down from the field knowing that another challenge had been conquered.

The hills made Chris to begin to understand flaws that no one would have noticed in a million years.

He placed his sword back in the patch.

He knew that there was still a long journey ahead of him and few days to find what he came for.

Still, he knew that determination was the key in circumstances such as this.

Even while alone, Chris began to grow more confident.

The eaze of passing through the burning field made him remember when he came here last.

He couldn't vividly remember what happened but he knew that he had never seen the burning field the way he viewed it now.

An entirely different image that landscaped in the mind of Chris.

He never stopped moving.

Each step carried more confidence.... shoulders held high.

He didn't doubt himself anymore, he was ready for the next challenge.

"Are those voices", Chris turned his head to the right where the voices came from.

It felt impossible for humans to be sighted in these parts of the hill.

Almost one in a million odds.

He walked across the green grass feeling the leaves flow across his feet.

He hid in a nearby bush to prevent being seen.

His heart raced.

Not just one person, but three.

All holding their separate weapons.

One held a laser piston, the other a dragonstorm machine gun that fired grenades at incredible speed.

The other man wasn't holding any weapon, but he wore a large bagpack as though it was stocked with supplies.

Chris just stared at them spellbound at how the three of them would have made it this far without any defaults.

He just hoped that they weren't out to stop people like him from getting a celestial appearance.

He did need all the help he could get in getting to the top of the hill and seeing how powerfully armed they were would be a great help in case any problems arose.

He then stood up from his squatting posture and slowly approached the trio.
