The two beasts stared down each other pounding their feet as though to prove authority.
The creatures didn't waste time and immediately started swinging their necks to the each other at a rapid pace.
The fight seemed a bit off... especially of creatures their size.
They didn't fight each other like mountain beasts as Chris thought they would, but instead like normal giraffes.
Watching the fight continue prove the hypothesis that Chris still held true.
These had to be a mutated version of giraffe of some sort.
Still, Chris had to get out of the way and go check on Derek.
It seemed impossible for anyone to survive that.
He placed his sword back into his patch and ran towards Derek.
Fidget as well also ran towards someone, Boris.
"Hey you okay", Fidget enquired to Boris.
No reply, Boris was absolutely demoralised.
Fidget reached his hand into the bagpack and grabbed the medical supplies that they brought along with them.
"Don't worry, you're gonna be okay", Fidget consoled nursing the large striped wound that struck around his abdominal regions.
Derek's case was absolutely horrifying.
The acid had broken past his outer layer and possibly melted part of his bone.
The only option left was for Derek to sit out the rest of the fight.
He was carried by Chris towards were Fidget treated Boris and laid down there.
With the three men occupied and the beast fighting each other, Chris came up with the idea of leaving the men to fend for themselves while he went in search of the celestial order.
He felt like trying to help these men might eventually lead to his death.
He also couldn't stand by and watch precious time such as this be wasted.
Of course, one of the ways to survive in this hill was selfishness.
"Farewell guys", Chris uttered bidding the guys goodbye.
Fidget turned his head.
"Wait....are you leaving us?".
Chris just shrugged feeling like there was no other way.
"You guys made it this far.
Complete the rest without me", and with that, he took off.....leaving the dust behind him.
"Raaaaaaaa", another loud roar sounded as Chris ran forcing everyone to shift their gazes.
Only one beast stood standing, the other laid for dead.
Incredible scenes.
The beast had won over it's territory, but it wasn't done yet.
With a stomp, Chris was knocked off balance.
The beast ran towards him.
Every step more louder than the last.
Chris knew that he couldn't outrun the beast.
He immediately got up and decided to continue with his sprint.
It had injuries that circled it's body and it's jaws were covered with blood.
The beast finally gained up on Chris and was ready to strike.
Chris extended his blade and immediately activated V2.
With a swing of his blade he tried stunning the beast.
Unfortunately, the power of the lightning flow wasn't enough to penetrate through the tough skin of the beast.
The beast continued to march on, although his steps were slower.
Chris struggled striking lightning bolt after lightning bolt towards the impending danger.
'Ahhhhhh', a scream made by the animal gave Chris a small chance to escape.
Derek stood along side Boris who held their guns on hand.
Both stood....limping.
Chris breath a sigh of relief to see his crew mates get up again.
They were still badly bruised but atleast they were back up to their feet.
Chris ran towards them, knowing that the beast would never give him the chance to escape.
All men once more stood firm.
Chris felt more reliable standing by his men once more.
"How are you guys back to your feet?", Chris looked stunned as he asked the question.
"We brought the best medical equipment available in case of situations like this.
We weren't going to go down for long without a fight", Boris answered back.
Chris couldn't get distracted, neither could anyone else.
A large mutated beast now stood just feet in front of them.
"Raaaaaaa", another roar proclaimed as the beast tried to defend its territory.
No time for stories, the beast plunged.....running towards them at such a great speed that it created large stomps.
A laser shot hit the leg of the beast not even slowing it down at all.
"We have to find a blind spot", Derek mentioned to the rest.
Chris grinned. "Then let's do this".
With that, the three rushed at the creature.
Boris shot his dragonstorm machine gun at the beast launching multiple grenades.
This stunned the beast.....so did the lightning currents that was used again by Chris to stun the creature.
The beast finally reached them and reached down to grab onto Boris.
Missed.
With the beast size and complexity, it would give the three a ground advantage.
Chris slid under the beast leg and struck it, deattaching some of its scales.
Derek fired the laser piston at the beast face.
No damage done, almost as though it made no impact.
Boris just kept launching the grenades at the creature.
Finally, the beast had enough.
It stomped it's foot sending them all flying.
The men quickly got up and continued the fight.
More grenades, lasers and lightning.
Lasted for about two minutes of the group domination.
Until the side effects started taking play.
"Chris.....what is wrong", Derek asked once he noticed the subtle movements of Chris.
"Nothing, I'm just losing energy.
I have stayed in my V2 for so long it's draining my energy", Chris answered back truthfully.
"Go get some rest.....we'll cover for you".
The beast wasn't backing down.
It once again came charging towards the pair.
Grenades and lasers followed next at each direction as the crew still tried to find the blind spot.
"Uh oh", Boris screamed and continued.
"I've run out of grenades".
Derek didn't have time to react but a look of fear spread all through his face.
"I thought.....you filled before coming", Derek struggled to say as he still fought on.
"I did, but all of it has been used up during this fight", Boris retorted, eyes shaking.
Still, Boris couldn't contribute to the fight without any decent weapon.
He went to look for cover.
Just like that, it became a 1v1.
Derek now fought against the beast alone.
Just him and his weapon.
The beast lunged again seeing the vulnerable state of Derek.
It bent down and shot out another acid gust of wind.
"Not again".
This time it was easily dodged by him.
He shot again, directly under the eye.
Finally, the creature backed off.
Derek came to a realization.
"Is it possible that the blind spot could be the eyes?!".
Derek questioned himself.
Every other spot of the animal was properly covered by it's scales except the eyes.
It was his only option.
All his gunpowder was then directed towards the eyes of the beast.
The beast was more powerful than to be defeated by a single young man.
It tightened it's neck as it usually did before swinging.
"Get out of the way", screamed Chris once he noticed this, but it was already too late.
