Chapter 13 - The Fortress Of Shadows

The atmosphere at the headquarters was electric. For the first time since this journey began, we weren't running. We weren't hiding. We were preparing to strike.

The map from the Celestial Archive was projected on the main screen, showing a location deep within the mountain ranges of mainland Asia—a place marked simply as The Citadel. According to the ancient texts, this was the original stronghold of the Void Syndicate, built directly over the very first rift ever discovered. It was from here that they planned their invasion of the realms.

"We have analyzed the defenses," Dr. Sato said, her voice steady but serious. "It is heavily guarded. Not just by soldiers, but by barrier machines that block out all light and energy. They have turned their own home into a void."

"But we aren't just anyone," Aiko said, checking the charge on her weapon. She looked at me with a smile. "We have the Arch Guardian."

I stood by the window, looking out at the night sky. Inside my bag, the four relics—the Eye of the Storm, the Heart of Nature, the Sands of Eternity, and the Tidal Gem—were humming softly, vibrating with anticipation. They felt ready. I felt ready.

My stream was already live. We decided to broadcast the final approach. Millions of viewers were already waiting, the chat filled with messages of support and hype.

[ilikecatslol6767]: FINAL MISSION LETS GOOOOOO 😭🙏🙏

[womanizer796901]: STORM THE CASTLE ARC IS HERE NO CAP 🗡️🔥🔥

[sigmafalcon]: RIZU LOOKS SO DETERMINED OMG

"Minna-san," I said, turning to the camera. "Today is the day. We are going to the Syndicate's main base. We are going to end this, once and for all. Thank you for staying with us until now. Let's show them what we're made of."

We traveled via transport helicopter, landing a few kilometers away from the target. The moment we stepped out of the craft, the air felt wrong.

It was cold. Not the freezing cold of Zeryphilia, but an empty, hollow cold. The sky above the fortress was pitch black, even though it was daytime in the rest of the world. Massive walls of black metal rose up from the cliffs, looking like a scar on the earth. Towers equipped with cannons and scanners scanned the area constantly.

"They know we're here," Kenji said, walking beside me. He had decided to come along, wanting to help save his brother and redeem himself. "Their sensors are active everywhere."

"Then let's not sneak in," I said, taking a deep breath. "Let's walk right through the front door."

We marched forward. As we got closer, the massive gates in the center of the wall creaked open slowly.

They weren't going to let us in easily. They wanted a fight on their own turf.

We stepped inside the fortress courtyard.

It was like walking inside a dark metal box. The walls were high, blocking out everything. And waiting for us in the center was an entire army. Hundreds of Syndicate soldiers, all wearing their tactical gear, aiming their weapons at us.

And standing in front of them were the elites.

Kaito was there, looking angrier than ever, his arm replaced by a mechanical weapon. And next to him stood Commander Vane, his face cold and cruel.

"Well?" Vane called out, his voice amplified by speakers. "The little hero brings his friends to die with him? How touching."

"We aren't here to die," I shouted back, stepping forward. "We are here to shut this place down. Release the prisoners. Surrender. Or face the consequences."

Kaito laughed bitterly. "Consequences? Boy, you are inside our house. Here, the rules are different. Here... there is no light to save you."

He raised his hand. "Attack!"

[ilikecatslol6767]: HERE WE GO!!! HERE WE GO!!! ⚔️⚔️

[womanizer796901]: USE THE BIG GUNS RIZU DONT HOLD BACK!!! 💥💥

The soldiers fired. Lasers and energy blasts came toward us like rain.

But this time, I didn't just block. I opened my arms wide.

WHOOSH.

I summoned the Eye of the Storm. A massive dome of swirling wind and pressure appeared around us. Every single bullet and laser that hit it was deflected upward, ricocheting back into the sky or melting harmlessly against the barrier.

"What?!" The soldiers gasped.

"Now!" I yelled.

Aiko, Kenji, and the other Collective agents rushed forward, engaging the soldiers in close combat. The courtyard turned into a battlefield—explosions, shouting, and the sound of clashing weapons filled the air.

I stood in the center, my eyes scanning everything.

Vane and Kaito rushed at me.

"Die!" Kaito swung his mechanical arm, firing a barrage of missiles.

I didn't even move. I tapped the Sands of Eternity.

Time slowed down.

The missiles froze in mid-air, the smoke trails hanging visible. I walked casually between them, stepping right up to Kaito.

"You tried to control time," I whispered. "But you never understood it."

I tapped his chest. Speed up.

The energy armor he was wearing overheated instantly, smoking and failing. He was thrown back by his own recoil.

Vane attacked from the side, swinging a blade of pure dark energy.

I summoned the Heart of Nature. Roots erupted from the metal floor, wrapping around his legs and holding him in place. Vines wrapped around his arms, disarming him gently but firmly.

"You..." Vane struggled, eyes wide in shock. "How? How can you use this power here?! This place is supposed to reject nature!"

"Because life finds a way," I said coldly. "Even in the darkest places."

[ilikecatslol6767]: HE IS LOWKEY DROPPING THEM LIKE FLIES LMAO 😼

[womanizer796901]: ONE MAN ARMY RIZU IS UNREAL 🗣️🔥

I looked around. The battle was one-sided now. The Syndicate soldiers were terrified. They had never seen anyone resist their technology so easily.

"Retreat! Fall back to the inner sanctum!" Vane shouted, breaking free from the vines and throwing a smoke bomb.

They ran toward the main tower, disappearing inside.

"We can't let them get to the core machine!" Dr. Sato yelled through comms. "If they activate the self-destruct or the final portal, the whole mountain will blow!"

"Let's go!" I ran after them.

We chased them through the corridors of the fortress. It was a maze of metal, wires, and dark technology. But Hana was leading the way, her nose twitching, growling at the shadows.

Finally, we reached the top level. The Main Control Room.

It was a massive circular room with windows looking out over the world. In the center was a gigantic machine, pulsing with unstable black and red energy. It was connected directly to a rift that was being forced open, leading to a realm of pure darkness.

And standing there, in front of the machine, was the Grand Master.

He wasn't wearing his mask anymore. He looked like an old man, but his eyes burned with insane ambition.

"You are too late," he said, his voice trembling. "The process has begun. I am merging the core energy! Soon, the power will be absolute!"

"Stop!" I ran forward. "You'll cause an explosion that will level the entire country!"

"Let it!" he screamed. "From the ashes, a new world will be born! Perfect! Orderly! Mine!"

He raised his hands, and the machine roared. The energy surged, turning into a massive beast of shadow and lightning that filled the entire room. It lunged at me, trying to swallow everything.

[womanizer796901]: OH SHIT THATS THE FINAL BOSS FORM!!!

[ilikecatslol6767]: USE EVERYTHING RIZU!!! ALL THE ORBS!!! 🛡️✨

I didn't hesitate. I took all four relics out of my bag and held them up high.

Wind. Forest. Time. Tide.

"Combine!" I shouted with all my might.

The four gems flew out of my hands and merged together in the air above me. They didn't just touch; they fused. The blue, green, silver, and aqua lights exploded into one brilliant, pure WHITE LIGHT.

A new artifact was formed.

THE PRIMORDIAL EMBLEM.

It looked like a small sun, spinning with all the colors of the rainbow.

I grabbed it, and instantly, I felt connected to everything. Not just the realms, but to the very fabric of existence. My body was surrounded by an armor of pure light. My hair floated as if underwater. I felt invincible.

The shadow beast roared and lunged.

I raised my hand and pushed forward.

BOOM.

A wave of absolute purity washed over the room.

Where the light touched, the dark energy shrieked and dissolved. The corrupted machine stopped pulsing violently and calmed down, turning into harmless metal. The shadow beast was purified, turning into thousands of sparkling butterflies that drifted away.

The Grand Master fell to his knees, staring at me in awe and terror.

"This... this power..." he whispered. "It's... beautiful..."

"It is," I said softly, walking toward him. "But you tried to force it. You tried to own it. That is why you failed."

I reached out my hand. I didn't want to hurt him anymore. I just wanted to end it.

"Let it go," I said. "The war is over."

He looked at my hand, then at his own machine, now silent and dead. His shoulders slumped. The madness in his eyes faded, replaced by exhaustion and regret.

"Yes..." he breathed out. "It is... over."

The alarms stopped blaring. The red lights turned off. The fortress was silent.

I lowered my hand, the Primordial Emblem shrinking down and resting gently against my chest, glowing warmly.

Aiko ran up to me, hugging me tightly. Kenji was crying tears of relief.

"We did it," Aiko sobbed. "We actually did it."

"We did," I smiled, looking around. The dark sky outside was clearing up. Sunlight was finally breaking through the clouds, shining down on the fortress.

I walked back to the camera, which had recorded every second of the final battle. The chat was exploding, millions of messages filling the screen.

[ilikecatslol6767]: I AM LITERALLY SOBBING THIS IS THE BEST THING IVE EVER WATCHED 😭😭😭🙏🙏

[womanizer796901]: PEAK FICTION. ABSOLUTE PEAK. THANK YOU RIZU 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥

[goonercouncil]: WE WON!!! WE ACTUALLY WON!!!

"Minna-san..." I said, my voice emotional. "We did it. The Syndicate is no more. The realms are safe. And our world... our world is safe too."

I looked out at the beautiful sunrise painting the mountains in gold.

"This journey... it changed my life. It changed all of us. I learned that there is so much more out there, so much wonder and beauty. And as long as we have courage and kindness... we can protect it all."

Hana jumped onto my shoulder, purring loudly and licking my cheek.

"Thank you for watching," I whispered. "This is Rizu, signing off... for the last time."

I reached out and pressed the button to end the stream.
