Aria's POV
For a few minutes, neither of us said anything. Lucian just drove, taking random turns like he was making sure we weren't being followed.
Finally, when we were far enough away from the hotel, he pulled into an empty parking lot and stopped the car.
Then he turned to look at me.
"Are you sure you're not hurt?" he asked and his voice was soft now, concerned.
"I'm sure," I said but my hands were still shaking. The adrenaline was wearing off and reality was starting to sink in.
Someone had tried to kill me. Bella had actually hired people to murder me.
And I'd killed someone. That assassin with the silver knife…he was dead because of me.
"Aria," Lucian said gently. "Look at me."
I looked at him and his blue eyes were so intense, so focused completely on me.
"You did what you had to do to survive," he said like he could read my thoughts. "That's not something to feel guilty about."
"I know, I just…I've never…"
