Aria's POV
He hung up the phone and looked at us with a serious face. "The pack house is under attack."
"What?" I said, my heart starting to beat fast. "By who?"
"Marcus," Mateo said. He was already moving quickly toward the door. "He brought his entire pack with him. They are tearing through our defenses right now. Zayn says they are looking for something, but he does not know what it is."
"The merger documents," Lucian said right away. "Marcus must have realized his plan is falling apart. He is trying to destroy the evidence before the Council hearing."
"Or he is trying to take over by force," I added, feeling angry. "If he cannot do it legally through Bella, he will just kill everyone who stands in his way."
Mateo looked at me, and for the first time in years, I saw real fear in his eyes. "I have to go back. My pack needs me right now."
"We are coming with you," I said firmly.
"No," Mateo said immediately, shaking his head. "It is too dangerous…"
