Shocked, Ed looked Melissa in the eye as she throws the question a second time.
"Are you human?"
Ed bent his head as the pain began to die down,he placed his hands on his chest and listened to his heart beat. Seconds later, he rose his head and looked at Melissa
"Yes...yes, I'm human—"
Tears flowed down his eyes, like a broken pipe. For a second, Ed didn't even realize that he was crying until Melissa hugged him
"Young master, were you involved in child experiments?"

Ed couldn't speak, not because he didn't know, but because of the pain he felt. He realized after talking to Melissa that the pain triggers when he thinks about or tries to talk about it. A system notification popped up in front of him a minute later

Ed tears dried up and he went back to wash his face. When he came back, his countenance had changed. He walked out of the room after preparing and walked into the car where Sally was waiting.
The car drives off to the academy where they would begin their three years of training
They got to the school, and met a crowd of nobles there. After all,it was a school that was welcome to every nation to attend. But unlike the mass of people, only one third would get to enroll
At around noon, the supervisor came and directed them to were they would begin their test . They were separated in two arm,mages and martial artists. Sally and Ed were separated,with Sally being a mage and Ed being a martial artist.
While Ed went to the martial arts section, Sally waved him goodbye and rushed to her section. When he got in,a few over 1 million people stood in the hall,with size bigger than a stadium. Ed stood at the back, not wanting to mingle with the crowd. While they waited, the third year student council president and second year student council vice president walked into the hall carrying an aura of domination with them. Seeing them, the applicants bowed their head leaving Ed who stood at the back.
The student council president glanced at him while standing on the podium and smiled before leaving. In the school, the student council had more power than teachers in the school, excluding the head teachers or department heads
Ed bowed after hesitating, so as to avoid attention from them. After clearing the air, the students rose to their feet and they announced the first test.
"For the first test, you're to choose a random opponent from the crowd. You two are to play a three round match. The winner moves to the next test while the loser leaves the school. "
"By the end of the first test, only 500,000 people will remain. Begin"
Ed stood at the back, where he was while others sorted out their opponents. Ed waited till the student council approached him. Seeing her, Ed turns and chooses a random teammate to pair up with, but she didn't want it
"Ed .d. angelo... your opponent will be me."
There goes my quiet school life...
"What?..."
Ed stood, speechless in front of the student council department. Her voice was loud enough, so there was no problem hearing her at all. But he tried everything to make sure he wouldn't face her.
"Why... you're not part of the applicants"
"I know, that's why I'll give you a handicap. If you make me take a step back or front from my position now you'll pass."
Word immediately spread about their competition and Ed was stuck in a situation where he couldn't refuse

Melissa dropped by and gave Ed his blades. Seeing that Ed was given his weapons, the crowd concluded that the match had began.

"Oh... you wield two of the resolve collections"
The whole crowd went up in uproar after hearing that feat. For a young boy to weild resolve collections, two at that was something to be shocked by
Ed gripped the skyblade while the student council president positioned herself. Ed squats fully on both feet while holding the skyblade. Before anyone could react, Ed slashed directly at the girl in front of him while intentionally missing vital points

When the sword approached, the student council president instinctively drew her blade to block, without moving from her position. She stood speechless while ed sheathed his sword again for her verdict
"Hey"
She stared blankly at him till her vice snaps her out of it
"Y-you pass..."
Saying that, she turns and leaves the hall while the others follow her. One of the student council stayed behind to conduct the remaining tests.
"Why did you turn back,angel?...you clearly didn't move from your position"
"Huh?... what are you saying?, do you know what it means to draw my blade against an attack that wasn't aimed for my vital points or carrying killing intent?... That boy is stronger than Davi."
Angel walks away while gripping her sword with her left arm. Ed successfully passed the first test and would move to the second one which was the next day. A total of 523 people qualified to join the second round
Ed walked back to the dorms where the applicants were to rest for the day. Melissa escorts him back with his goods and drops it with him before exiting.
"Young master...you have to pass the tests before I can come for you again or else, we'll be going back home together"
Ed wakes up earlier than usual in his dorm and rushes outside to train. While jogging,he runs into a nerd looking girl with glasses sitting on the street bench and flipping through pages of a book. He runs past her while she turns to look at him.
Ed jogged back to his dorms,determined to continue his school life in silence. Unknown to them all on the final day before graduation, Ed will kill Sally with his own hands.
