[IRIS POV]
"Mama, what are you doing?" I heard a childish voice speak from behind me. I whirled around and saw my younger, four-year-old self blinking innocently. I realized I was suddenly standing in the kitchen of my childhood home.
'Am I dead?' I wondered to myself. I wouldn't be surprised if the whipping finished me off. But at least the afterlife seemed comforting.
I could smell the familiar scent of herbs and flowers from the small garden outside our cottage, and if there was even the slightest scent of river water in the air, just like how I remembered.
In that case, that meant… my mother was here! I walked into the kitchen to see her familiar figure illuminated by the sunlight.
