The city shook around them.
A distant explosion rolled through the ruined streets hard enough to rattle broken windows loose from nearby buildings. Dust clouds drifted between collapsed intersections while flashes of light burst somewhere beyond the skyline where other fights were already tearing the district apart.
Joon barely paid attention to any of it because now someone was walking toward him.
The man moved calmly through the destruction as if he didn't care that entire buildings were collapsing around him. Loose chunks of concrete shifted beneath his boots while bent street signs trembled slightly every time he stepped closer.
That immediately put Joon on edge.
People who stayed calm in the middle of chaos were usually the dangerous ones.
Joon raised one hand instinctively.
Electricity burst across his reinforced glove in jagged blue arcs, crackling loudly through the ruined street.
"Don't move!"
