Hanseong's chest burned.
Every breath felt wet now.
The X-shaped slash carved across his torso was deeper than he thought, blood soaking through his shirt in thick streams that dripped steadily down his stomach and legs. His vision pulsed slightly at the edges, the ruined street around him blurring in and out of focus for brief moments.
But none of that mattered anymore because Jin had stopped moving, and that terrified him more than the wound on his chest did.
The broken katana hung loosely at Jin's side, the chipped half-blade stained dark red beneath the evening light. His posture had gone completely still. He wasn't trying some special stance or anything; he was completely still.
And his eyes....
Hanseong's pulse tightened slightly.
They were completely unfocused; it was like he wasn't even fully seeing the battlefield anymore. For one brief second, instinct screamed at Hanseong to run.
