Chapter 5 - Awakening [1]

I watched silently as Londres fell into the water. Arthur's smile gave me the creeps.

Damn, how can he smile like that when he just stabbed someone?

My eyes shifted to Andromeda, I had expected for her to feel concerned for her sister but her aloof face didn't show any emotion whatsoever.

I really can't understand her.

I looked at the empress sitting on her glorious throne, our eyes met for a second before I turned away. Tsk, don't tell me she is lusting over me right now? I'm a minor!

"I wonder what kind of ability the daughter of Isandar is going to awaken, maybe the same as her father?" A man no older than 30 with short black hair and piercing red eyes spoke.

"Beast taming? I doubt, you know that magical abilities rarely follow bloodline but the will of the gods." An old man with gray hair and red eyes replied. "However, if that happens, we will have another strong beast tamer in our empire, the more beast tamers the better in dealing with those pests"

Isandar Tan Zalanta, the beast king. He was one of the strongest beings in this world and the strongest beast tamer to ever exist, he was the father of Londres and younger brother of the empress.

I don't know much about the ability since we've never met but from what I know he is able to tame beasts or monsters that anyone would not want to tame except dragons of course, they are on a different level.

Then Alexandra who was silently speaking evenly with a bit of expectation. "I think she will follow her mother."

All eyes turned to her.

How could they not when she was the one who killed her mother.

"Poison ability?" someone murmured.

"If the empress said then she must be right. After all she has those eyes."

The empress had another broken ability, All seeing eyes , one of its perks is that it allows her to see people's affinities only just by looking at them but however there was something that bothered her.

She could not see what affinity does Lucas lean to. He just appeared blank for her and normally that meant that he would not awaken an affinity type ability.

We'll see soon enough. She thought.

After a couple more minutes of waiting, a change happened.

The air suddenly became bitter and toxic. The water colour changed to deep green and started bubbling.

"No way!" Someone said,

"She really did awaken the poison affinity, just like her mother." another said.

"The poison goddess has blessed her!"

She awakened poison just like the venomous snake she is, but I'm not going to lie, that is a very good ability, if she ever reaches the level of her mother, Touch of Death, she will be immune to any type of type of poison

Green toxic smoke came out of the boiling water and moved towards us at a fast speed.

But before it could reach, with a wave of his hand, Arthur erased the smoke like it never existed.

Not a second after Londres emerged out of the water breathing heavily. She looked like she had seen death herself.

She technically did, for some minutes.

"Congratulations on your awakening princess, you have awakened the poison ability." Arthur said with a smile as he extended his hand to her and lifted her up to her feet.

A proud smile formed on her face as she heard those words. "Thank you uncle Arthur."

Arthur nodded and with a snap of his fingers a huge white towel enveloped Londres.

Londres stepped out of the pool and joined us, looking at me from the corner of her eye she whispered, "You see how only nobility awakens great abilities? This place is not for a commoner like you, just give up."

Members of the royal family kept praising her for her talent.

I listened to her slander quietly without even looking at her and then replied. "If that is what makes you sleep at night then sure, I'm nothing compared to nobility."

Tsk, if you only were quiet like Andromeda that would be a blessing. I complained in my head.

Her face became red as she heard my mocking. Seeing her looking like a volcano that was about to erupt at any time made me wanna laugh but I restrained myself.

Andromeda stepped forward next.

But just before she stepped forward, a snap from Arthur's fingers stopped her as she watched the green poison change back to clean water as if Londres had just not bled in it.

"Poison is a very dangerous princess." Arthur said with a smile.

She nodded and entered the pool calmly without any change in her facial expression.

If Arthur did not stop her she would definitely enter that pool and get hurt by the poison that lingered in the pool. I shook my head with a chuckle. She is really an airhead.

It did not take long for her to be in the middle of the pool and standing before Arthur.

Another knife materialized on Arthur's hand.

He placed his hand on her shoulders and asked again with a smile. "Are you ready?"

Andromeda, aloof as always, nodded.

Arthur wasted no time and thrust the knife through her heart with abnormal precision that Andromeda had not noticed or felt when she was stabbed.

Splurt.

Only after a few seconds did she feel the unbearable pain.

"Aghh!" She groaned with blood spilling out of her mouth.

Soon after, she fell on her back inside of her pool, losing consciousness. Her blood died in the pool, all red like paint.

Damn…being stabbed to the heart is not an enjoyable experience at all.

Everyone watched silently, the air full of expectations.

I believed that maybe she would awaken something like an ice affinity because of her cold and aloof personality, but she proved that my beliefs were wrong.

Not after 10 minutes, something inside the pool shifted. The water in the pool started swaying in waves, and then it glowed purple all of a sudden, shining the hall brightly.

It was so beautiful that I couldn't take my eyes off it, but then I had to cover my eyes because it was too bright.

"Beautiful." Someone said in the crowd.

The light had finally died down. I rubbed my eyes with my hands to see what happened to Andromeda.

I looked at the pool—no, what used to be the pool.

The water inside the pool had vaporized releasing steam in the air and standing in the middle of it was Andromeda with her two hands open as if she was holding something purple in her palms.

Only when the water vapor died I was able to see what it was and what I saw made my eyes go wide.

They were flames, not normal red flames but purple flames.

"N-no way, another rare affinity…" A woman said in disbelief.

"And an evolved one at that. As expected of our royal family, she was blessed by a phoenix." A tall young man said.

In this world there are many affinities, anyone can awaken them but the rare ones not everyone can, specially an evolved one like purple flames, a stronger version of fire that only mythical creatures like phoenix could produce.

"If a phoenix really blessed her then that means she'd be able to connect with one in the far future! What a blessing for our empire!" A woman with gray hair said with a huge smile.

Yeah, Andromeda has just made a jackpot.

While I was busy in my thoughts, Londres tapped my shoulders. What now? I turn my face to the side trying to not make a frown.

"Do you see now, the difference between you and us?" Londres said with a smirk.

A vein popped on the side of my forehead. Fuck, I want to punch this bitch so bad, she is getting on my nerves.

Calming my thoughts, not wanting to commit violence in broad daylight, I replied coolly. "You talk too much, just wait and see."

With that I shifted my attention back to Andromeda.
