Chapter 10 - Awakening [6]

⌈Good, be grateful, the great Virgil is blessing you with his two most powerful affinities.⌋ Virgil said with a proud smile. [Cosmos and lightning.]

Two ultra rare affinities, Hell yeah! I knew it, those sparks coming out of his body were lightning.

A thousand possibilities of what I could do with them crossed my mind.

Seeing the happiness on my face Virgil chuckled, ⌈Technically not only two but five since inside the cosmos there is space, time and light.⌋

Damn I really hit the jackpot didn't I? That is so fucking broken, ah shit, I can't wait to see the reaction of that fucking bitch Londres.

I laughed with anticipation of showing that bitch what a commoner has just achieved.

⌈Show off.⌋ Finalis said with a smile.

Virgil stood up from his chair and hell, he was tall as fuck.

He stood over me, he was probably around 2 meters tall.

⌈Now that I look at you, you are quite short⌋, a vein popped up on my head but I suppressed my anger.

He continued. ⌈Well, it does not matter, you are still young and you'll grow and if you don't, i'll just have to stretch you, can's have my successor be shorter than me.⌋

"What do you mean by that?" I asked with a frown.

⌈Ignore his shenanigans, his always like that.⌋ Finalis said as she shook her head in disappointment.

Virgil put his right hand over my head and said, ⌈Make us proud successor and don't take too long to meet us.⌋

That will definitely take a long time,  but I replied anyway, "I will."

With that last sentence, I felt some power going inside me from his hand and burst inside me, causing me to go unconscious.

Meanwhile, Virgil and Finalis were staring at the spot where Lucas had just been.

Finalis then opened her mouth and spoke with a sad voice, ⌈Is it really fine to not tell him now?⌋

Virgil, with his arms clasped behind his back just looked up at the white sky of the room which had no ceiling, his cosmic eyes seemed to be staring far beyond the starlight. ⌈It is better that this way.⌋

[Empire of Yves, Awakening hall]

It had been 30 minutes since Lucas had been stabbed with the awakening knife. He hadn't got up since.

It was weird because an awakening was supposed to take only 5 to 10 minutes, not half an hour.

"What did you all expect? He is a commoner with no talent; he is probably dead. I feel no pulse coming from him, even after 30 minutes." A woman in her thirties with red eyes and red hair said in the crowd.

"Yeah, tsk, waste of an awakening dagger." Someone clicked their tongue.

More people kept slandering Lucas' name, while some just kept quiet with no reaction.

I told you, you commoner filth, you were worthless, and now you are dead. I was trying to save your life, but you did not listen to me. Londres thought with disdain.

Alexandra, on her throne, remained cold as ever, showing no signs of reaction, but deep inside, doubt filled her heart.

Did he really die? If he did, who is going to fuck me then?

Arthur, looking at the submerged body of Lucas, had a frown on his face.

Why? Because he definitely just saw his pale fingers twitch. Am I seeing things?

They all thought that he was dead, and Andromeda included.

However, Lucas would prove them wrong.

And he did.

Suddenly, a shift happened in the pool.

A smile formed on Arthur's face, his golden eyes shining with a golden light.

He was not the only one who felt it—everyone in the room felt the change.

It first started as a small spark, a small crackle, but it then developed into a full-on scale lightning manifestation.

Blue lightning came out of Lucas's body and spread fast on the water and outwards. Lightning travelled quickly through the water towards Arthur.

Water was a good conductor of electricity, so it reached Arthur in no time.

Arthur did not panic, nor did he feel fear. With only a look from Arthur, a golden sphere materialized around him, blocking the incoming surge of lightning. The moment the lightning hit the buried, the hall shook.

"No way, lightning affinity?" Someone stood up in disbelief.

"Impossible!" Another one screamed.

"And another rare one." A lady smiled as she licked her lips seductively. She was definitely plotting something.

"Our royal family is blessed!" Someone else screamed.

Slowly and slowly, Lucas's image in the royal family was changing.

The empress clasped hardly on the armrest of her throne. He is alive. She thought.

Meanwhile, Londres was furious at Lucas's affinity reveal.

"How could a commoner awaken such affinity?!" She said,

I had hoped he'd get something bad, but not his!

Londres, on her left, looked aloof as ever as she looked at the pool, but if you looked closely, something like a tiny smile formed on her lips. If Lucas had seen that, he would have thought he was dreaming.

"I knew you could do it…" She whispered.

In the pool, Arthur had a wide smile on his face.

He knew that the lightning would not hurt him, but something had told him to form a barrier around himself.

Crazy, I'm using a barrier against a kid. He thought as his smile became wider that revealing his sharp fangs

The sound of lightning crackling filled the hall. The lightning coming out of Lucas spread wider and wider as it came out of the pool, moving towards the princesses and the crowd.

Arthur, smooth as ever he was, waved his hand. The lightning never reached the crowd nor the princesses—it compressed inside the pool, it was like a cage was formed around the pool to imprison it.

Arthur knew that even if he did not do anything to stop it, this wouldn't harm any of the old monsters that were in the crowd.

"How the hell does he have so much mana?" An old man said.

"Yeah, and it is very pure as well." A young man said with a smile.

After a while, the lightning stopped releasing from Lucas body.

Arthur saw that he was still unconscious, so he thought of getting him out of the water, thinking that was the end.

But he was wrong, they were wrong.

Lucas was not done surprising them.

Suddenly, before Arthur could grab his body, Lucas moved on his own—no, rather, an unknown force moved him.

His body started rising slowly until the boy came out of the water, and it did not just stop there.

Arthur's eyes went wide.

Lucas' body continues rising and floating upwards.

"What the hell—?!" Someone said in disbelief, "Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing, because that boy is definitely floating!"

Even Alexandra had her eyes wide.

Lucas kept floating and floating up; he was already past Arthur's height.

"This kid…" Arthur said, his eyes trembling.

Lucas looked like an angel that was ascending to heaven.

And then something that would shock the world and change history happened.

A cosmic latte color came out of Lucas' Body that shone brightly around the whole hall.

Dozens of chairs fell down on the floor.

Everyone in the crowd stood up as they watched the thing coming out of Luca's body with trembling eyes. Some released their auras, their red eyes shining fiercely with excitement.

Even the empress was standing as well, a wide smile spread on her face as a golden red aura came out of her body.

All of them watched in awe as the boy floated up in the air.
