Chapter 15 - Lucifer Takes Responsibility for Scarlet

This time Scarlet didn't cry like the previous times. Holding the advantage firmly in her hand, even though she was in a lot of pain, the way she looked at Lucifer was still full of fighting spirit.

"Go on, kill me if you're brave enough. If you don't kill me, I'll expose your identity to the whole world. With such a narrow-minded and arrogant attitude, how can you be an archangel? I think you're definitely a demon king from hell."

This time, her words were actually enough to convince Lucifer not to keep hitting her. Instead, he used cream to apply to her wounds to help her recover quickly

"Your brain's not bad. It's been a while since someone found out my identity and dared to talk to me like this. What do you want? Spit it out. But you're still slave No. 1. Also, when you're outside, you have to say I'm the savior, not a demon king."

It was annoying, sure, but calling Lucifer narrow-minded was really underestimating him.

As the highest-ranked entity existing through endless years, there's no way he'd truly care about some trivial matter.

Besides, Scarlet is Victor's daughter, so spoiling her a bit is reasonable.

"Hmph, you sure know how to ask."

Even though Scarlet let out a huff to show her displeasure, she couldn't hide the corner of her mouth curling up smugly.

How long had it been since she last felt this kind of satisfying victory? It was truly exhilarating. Like the pain she went through was totally worth it.

"Enough small talk. Tell me what you want."

Lucifer agreed to spoil her a bit, but that didn't mean she could have anything she wanted. If she went too far, he wouldn't mind letting her soul and body say goodbye to each other.

"I want you to take responsibility for me. I don't need forever. At least for this life it is fine. I don't think I'm good enough to be 'Demon Queen' anyway."

This was exactly what bothered her the most. Lucifer had looked, he had touched, and yet he wouldn't take any responsibility—it was honestly infuriating.

But she also knew herself. Knew that she didn't have any right to compare to ancient beings like Lucifer, so she clearly stated the condition was only for this one life.

"Hmm… You're sure that's all you want?"

Since she showed that much sincerity, Lucifer wouldn't cruelly refuse. One human lifetime to him was just a little trip. Indulging her a bit wasn't unacceptable.

"I'm sure. So do you agree?"

Saying this, she felt a mix of hope and some strange feeling. She never thought there'd come a day she'd beg a 'man' to take responsibility for her.

"Of course. This is way too simple."

Lucifer agreed so easily that Scarlet started to suspect he was digging a trap for her.

"Then what's our relationship now?"

Even though she knew his answer would be somewhere between disappointing and infuriating, she still asked.

"I'm the master, you're the slave. But since I'm taking responsibility, I'll give you some special privileges. Now that you're number one, Victor drops to number two. You also have the right to refuse to follow my requests.

Of course it needs my consideration. If it's reasonable, then you don't need to it. Also, I'll pay a bit more attention to you to guide your development in the upcoming chaotic era."

Lucifer grinned slyly as he laid out these extremely vague 'benefits' he just came up with for her.

"Huh???"

Scarlet was shocked by Lucifer's shamelessness. After all that, there were basically no real benefits. Just the empty title of being number one in his heart… And even number one was just a comparison to other humans.

"You're trash…"

She was now so dejected she didn't even bother yelling, just spoke in a limp voice and slumped limply on the bed.

If no matter how she played, she couldn't beat Lucifer, she'd just 'lie back' and let it be. He could do whatever he wanted. She didn't want to fight him anymore.

"Ha ha ha…"

Seeing Scarlet's current state made Lucifer find it a bit amusing. In these twenty years he hadn't played with humans in real life much, so he didn't realize it was this fun… But still second to playing games.

Even though he said things that harsh, he secretly gave her a VIP pass to hell. If she went to heaven, it'd follow normal procedure, but if she went to hell, she'd get a VIP spot that other souls would have to struggle for countless years to reach.

Lucifer stood up, then picked up the suitcase he had thrown in a corner of the room earlier and placed it beside her.

"Inside there's a pistol and some bullets. You know how to use it, right?"

Scarlet stared at him in shock when he actually handed her something this dangerous. If you shot this into the head, even Lucifer probably couldn't take it, right?

"Of course I know. Did you forget who my dad is?"

When the thought came, the action followed right after. She immediately loaded the bullets and immediately spun around, aiming the gun at Lucifer's head.

But he was still one step faster, instantly picking her up in a princess carry, making her gun hand unsteady from the shock.

"You… you… what are you doing?"

Scarlet's face turned bright red like a tomato. Her words stammered as if she temporarily lost the ability to form sentences. The gun hadn't fallen only because she'd practiced shooting so many times. Otherwise, with this much shaking, it would've dropped immediately.

Dealing with this type of 'kid' was indeed extremely simple. Only kids actually feel shy. As for beings who've lived through endless years like Lucifer, when they act shy, it's all fake.

Lucifer brought his own head up to the gun's muzzle and smiled. This suicidal move shocked Scarlet badly.

"If pulling the trigger can make you happy, then go ahead."

This kind of gentle and warm tone—Lucifer must have learned it somewhere because he used it so smoothly. Now he looked like a lovestruck young man ready to die for his beloved.

His dizzyingly fast change made Scarlet's face even redder. But the weirder he acted, the less she dared to pull the trigger.
