The Little Fairy, having witnessed the entire process, had eyes shining with excitement. Her pale blue pupils gazed unreservedly at the powerful White Fledgling Dragon.
Jona Velli felt a burning gaze fall upon her. Looking toward the source, she found a cute Little Fairy locked inside a stone cage.
Information from her Inheritance Memory automatically surfaced.
[Little Fairy: A bunch of annoying flies to dragons. They never stop chattering and usually enjoy playing pranks on passing travelers or humanoid creatures.
However, fairies are pure spirits of nature and possess high elemental affinity. With their help, one can obtain varying degrees and aspects of power amplification. Some powerful fairies can even grant blessings to other creatures.
Most belong to the Chaotic Neutral alignment...]
Jona Velli wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but that look gave her a sense of déjà vu, like a die-hard fan from her past life seeing their favorite idol.
She didn't care much, though, and continued slaughtering the remaining Goblins.
Soon, the group of Goblins was completely wiped out. A few captured humanoid creatures in the cave had luckily survived.
Jona Velli extracted the monster cores from the Goblins' bodies, ate them as little snacks, and then walked over to the Little Fairy.
Her crystal-blue dragon eyes narrowed slightly as she began to size up the fairy before her.
Truth be told, although this fairy was a bit small, her appearance was truly beyond reproach.
The Little Fairy had skin as translucent as ice crystals. Her long, pale blue hair floated gently, like strands of ice silk stirred by a breeze.
Her ears were pointed and glowed faintly blue, small and delicate.
Her dragonfly-like wings were as light as gossamer, shimmering with a pale blue light that looked exceptionally dreamlike in the dim glow of the cave.
Her overall height was only about forty centimeters.
A pair of pale blue pupils locked eyes with Jona Velli. Far from being afraid of being watched by a terrifying White Dragon, she was instead filled with excitement.
"Great White Dragon Lord, thank you so much for saving poor Fanny."
The Little Fairy, who called herself Fanny, gave a bow to Jona Velli after speaking.
Crystal-blue vertical pupils stared at her thoughtfully, making Fanny's scalp tingle under the gaze.
It couldn't be helped; the stare of a giant dragon was simply too terrifying. Even though the dragon before her wasn't emitting any Dragon Fear, it still made her break out in a cold sweat.
"Fanny, if I am not mistaken, you are an Ice Elemental Fairy."
Fanny nodded.
"The White Dragon Lord is indeed knowledgeable. I am indeed an Ice Elemental Fairy."
Jona Velli raised a claw and began to rub her chin, making a scratching sound.
"If I recall correctly, Ice Elemental Fairies should live in the North Ice Plains or the Great Ice Plains. Why are you here?"
Hearing this, Fanny began to explain.
"To answer the great White Dragon Lord, I was not born there. A team of Adventurers found an Extreme Cold Snow Lotus in the North Ice Plains and brought it to the Yesupu Continent, intending to sell it in the Whit Kingdom, which borders the North Ice Plains.
But as you know, the Whit Kingdom is ruled by Trolls and Half-Orcs, and they do not welcome races like humans.
Some Half-Orcs saw the Extreme Cold Snow Lotus and harbored ill intentions, so the Adventurers were hunted down. They eventually came to the Slumbering Forest and were killed by a group of Goblins. I was born at that time."
As she finished, sadness unconsciously flickered in Fanny's eyes, and the fairy wings behind her drooped.
If it hadn't been for those Adventurers, she should have been living carefree with others of her kind, but now... sigh.
Jona Velli felt little emotion upon hearing this tragic tale of displacement. As a Five-Color Dragon, it was now difficult for her to feel such things as empathy.
However, despite the lack of feeling, she still gave the Little Fairy a token bit of comfort.
"It's fine. At least you're still alive, aren't you?"
Fanny looked up in disbelief, her eyes filled with wonder.
Is she... comforting me?
A smile appeared on her delicate little face.
"Mm! Thank you. You are a good dragon."
Jona Velli couldn't help but twitch her dragon mouth. She'd just been given a 'good person' card? This newborn Little Fairy was certainly easy to fool. After all, fairies were still on a dragon's menu—especially for Green Dragons, who loved eating fairies and elves most of all.
Jona Velli casually broke the cage and let Fanny out.
Having regained her freedom, Fanny flapped her dragonfly-like wings and flew around Jona Velli, leaving a trail of faint white ice crystals wherever she passed.
"Finally free! Hahahaha!!"
Fanny landed on Jona Velli's nose and looked at her seriously.
"Thank you. I really don't know how to repay you."
Sincerity showed in her pale blue eyes. Jona Velli grinned.
"Since you want to repay me so badly, then let me fill my stomach."
With that, Jona Velli grabbed the Little Fairy in one claw. Before Fanny could even react, Jona Velli had already opened her dragon mouth.
Seeing the approaching bloody maw and the snowy-white dragon teeth emitting a chilling cold, Fanny was so scared she closed her eyes and screamed loudly.
"Eek! No...!"
Crystalline tears slid down and turned into ice crystals.
"Tch~ how boring. Scared to tears already."
Jona Velli released her claw and turned to look at the junk scattered on the ground, which included tattered clothes, wooden clubs, and other items.
Some of the things were clearly from that wiped-out team of Adventurers.
Realizing that this wicked White Dragon was just teasing her, Fanny breathed a sigh of relief. She looked at the massive back with lingering fear, but after a moment of hesitation, she still flew to Jona Velli's side.
"Um..."
Jona Velli glanced over, and little Fanny was so scared she backed away a bit. Seeing this, Jona Velli went back to rummaging through the pile of junk.
Watching Jona Velli's actions, Fanny's face turned red involuntarily.
She was simply too cowardly!
"White Dragon Lord, what are you looking for?"
"gold coins, silver coins, copper coins, shiny little things, treasures that dragons love."
Jona Velli's tone carried a hint of impatience because she hadn't found a single treasure so far.
Fanny looked at the pile of junk. Although she had only recently been born, she knew that dragons were very obsessed with treasure.
Fairies had their own inheritance as well, though it wasn't as grand and vast as a dragon's.
Furthermore, a typical fairy's inheritance only provided basic knowledge and fundamental innate magic.
For a fairy to grow, they needed the accumulation of time, the teachings of elders, and the acquisition of knowledge.
Fanny struck a thinking pose, then as if remembering something, she flew toward the cave from which the Goblin Chief had emerged.
Not long after, she flew out, struggling to carry a single glittering gold coin.
"White Dragon... Lord, is... is this what you wanted..."
