Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Crybaby Gris

Counting the days, Jona Velli knew that in seven months it would be her first birthday. This wasn't the most important part; the most important thing was that at one year old, she would undergo a deep sleep and enter her juvenile period.

This sleep usually lasts more than a year, and she would benefit from it, such as a massive increase in size. Her subconscious would awaken the Dragon Language Magic best suited for her, and there was a chance she would awaken a powerful talent again.

However, the time during the deep sleep is also the most dangerous, as accidents can easily occur.

Although her relationship with Friel had been improving over the past three months, she believed that when the days for her deep sleep truly arrived, Friel would definitely kick her out.

But she wasn't worried about this; on the contrary, she was looking forward to this deep sleep, as it was a crucial one for her ability to seek revenge in the future.

To ensure her size was no longer a disadvantage, she worked hard to increase her feeding frequency, hunting magic beasts and devouring mana cores as much as possible.

Moreover, she was confident that her overall mana reserves were definitely greater than Friel's now, all thanks to one of her talents—Mana Tide.

"Hehehe~ Friel, oh Friel, I'm really looking forward to seeing you struggle under my claws, showing a look of resentment, humiliation, and helplessness, ehehehe~ jie jie jie~"

Thinking of this, Jona Velli once again wore a foolish expression.

The Stone-Claw Demon Crocodiles watched the White Fledgling Dragon stepping on their kin while smirking foolishly. Thinking she was mocking them, they let out resentful roars from within the Sam River.

The cries of the Stone-Claw Demon Crocodiles pulled Jona Velli's thoughts back. Her crystal-blue vertical pupils coldly swept over them, and she let out a disdainful cold snort.

"Tch~ What's the rush? Sooner or later, you'll all end up in my stomach and turn into a pile of dragon dung."

Saying this, Jona Velli lowered her head again to continue eating, and those Stone-Claw Demon Crocodiles could do nothing about it.

Just as Jona Velli was eating with gusto, she suddenly felt a sense of being watched.

The feeling was very strong, making it hard for her to ignore.

Impatiently raising her dragon head, she looked in the direction dictated by her intuition and discovered that at some point, a dragon covered in smooth black scales, with a pair of forward-pointing horns and a sunken dragon head—looking like a skeletal dragon draped in dragon skin—was watching her warily.

The first thought Jona Velli had upon seeing this Black Fledgling Dragon was—look how hungry this kid is, he's nothing but skin and bones.

Seeing the chubby Jona Velli look over, the Black Fledgling Dragon's scales immediately bristled. His back arched high, and his dragon tail curled upward as he let out low growls.

"Roar..."

Seeing such a reactive fellow, Jona Velli felt speechless.

Served him right, really. Being so rude, he deserved to be starved like this.

"Stupid white dragon! Hand over the food obediently before the great Gris takes action, otherwise..."

His black dragon mouth opened, Acid Breath loaded and ready to attack at any moment.

Hearing those arrogant words, her crystal-blue dragon eyes darkened.

"Ha? Who gave you the courage to be disrespectful to the great Jona Velli? Who do you think you are?"

Hearing the white dragon speak in dragon language, the black dragon who called himself Gris was stunned.

What was going on? Didn't the Inheritance Memory say that white dragons had almost no intelligence before reaching adulthood? They weren't even supposed to know the most basic dragon language, yet this white dragon in front of him... "Scum, I'll give you a chance. Kneel down and beg for my forgiveness before I get angry."

Hearing Jona Velli's words, Gris was stunned, and then anger flared up in his heart.

How dare you, a bottom-tier Five-Color Dragon, speak to me, a dragon who's always ranked second to last for ten thousand years?

So what if you have some intelligence? A bottom-tier is still just a bottom-tier.

Immediately, Gris said no more and spat out his Acid Breath.

"Heh, a foolish choice. Get ready for your butt to be blasted."

The white dragon mouth quickly opened, and Frost Breath containing terrifying piercing power shot out, easily tearing through the incoming Acid Breath.

Under Gris's horrified black dragon eyes, the breath hit his body.

The terrifying force knocked him to the ground. A large patch of ice crystals formed where he was hit, and the bone-chilling cold made his limbs feel stiff.

Before he could get up, Jona Velli stepped on his chest with a smug look.

"Yo~ Weren't you acting all tough?"

Slap!

With every sentence, Jona Velli gave Gris a big slap.

"Why aren't you acting tough anymore?"

Slap!

"When you're out in the world, you need strength and a background."

Slap!

"You have, one, no strength, and two, no background, so why are you acting so tough?"

Slap!

After speaking, she delivered another slap to Gris's dragon head.

Having been slapped several times, Gris felt incredibly humiliated, but he also felt a bit sad in his heart. How could even a bottom-tier dragon overpower him!

Seeing Gris's resentful eyes paired with that look of being on the verge of tears, Jona Velli was stunned. Wasn't this exactly the look she wanted to see on Friel? She hadn't expected that now... This made her unconsciously grin her dragon mouth to its widest.

"I've always wanted to see this expression—this look of resentment, wanting to kill me but being powerless to do so. Jie hahahahahaha~~!!!"

Jona Velli's smugness and mockery were not hidden at all, which made Gris feel even more humiliated.

Very quickly, with a "wa" sound, Gris, the Black Fledgling Dragon, burst into tears.

This completely baffled Jona Velli. Wait, is this right? Isn't he a black dragon cub? How could he just start crying like that?

Gris's sudden crying left Jona Velli at a loss, and she instinctively stepped away from him.

Once freed, Gris immediately performed a "death roll" just like a crocodile for Jona Velli.

"Waaahhh~ Waaahhh~~"

"Hey! Gris, right? Stop crying. You want to eat, don't you?"

Jona Velli quickly walked to the unfinished Stone-Claw Demon Crocodile and dragged it in front of Gris.

"Here, eat. It's all yours. Hurry up and eat, take big bites."

Gris didn't stop crying, but his body honestly began to eat.

Watching the Black Fledgling Dragon eating while crying, Jona Velli felt it was quite a novelty.

"Good grief, the world is big and there are all kinds of dragons. I don't remember black dragons being such crybabies."

The White Fledgling Dragon lay down nearby, observing the black dragon while waiting.

Although Gris was devouring the Stone-Claw Demon Crocodile like a starving wolf, he was still warily on guard against Jona Velli to prevent her from suddenly attacking.

Although the Mother of Evil Dragons, Tiamat, had set the rule that "no chromatic dragons shall kill each other before reaching adulthood," it didn't mean she wouldn't give him a severe beating.

Gris, who had been hungry for who knows how long, swallowed even the bones of the Stone-Claw Demon Crocodile.

Soon, nothing was left of the magic beast except for the bloodstains on the ground.
