Chapter 26
"Where the hell were you?" Susan screamed in my face pushing me away from the door
I thought about telling her the truth but the contract papers flashed in my mind.
"I was… out" I replied, my voice shaky at the end.
"What do you mean you were out?"
"Thankfully I was close by when she called me" she yelled at me
"Where the fuck where you?"
"Stop yelling Susan, you just said you didn't want to wake her up" I tried to reason with her.
Her anger was valid but it's not like she called me.
I pulled my phone out briefly to check if I had any missed calls from her earlier.
Nothing.
"What's going on?" I asked the scene of my mother sprawled on the bed still replaying in my head.
"We can't talk here," she said peeping at her room "I just got her to sleep a few minutes ago"
Glancing at the food on the table, her nose scrunched up in disgust
"You hungry" she asked
"Nah, I just had lunch" I shrugged "What's going on?"
