Chapter 31
"We need to talk," Darius said, standing at the bottom of the stairs.
Oh now he wanted to talk.
I walked straight past him, climbing the stairs into the house as he stood there dumbfounded. The door slammed hard against its door frames, rattling its hinges as I passed.
Good.
Let him know if as angry and rightfully so.
Just because he had finally decided to show up and apologize didn't mean everything was magically okay.
Darius came in after me, closing the door gently, he stood at the door for a while before finally speaking.
"I'm sorry—" he said, pulling his coat off.
The flower vase on the dining table suddenly became interesting to me as I picked at the dead flowers in it.
They must have died days ago and nobody noticed it.
Brown petals drooped over the rim while the water underneath had turned cloudy.
I picked at one of the wilted petals.
"Please answer me, Andrea" he pleaded from where he stood knowing not to come close to me.
