Chapter 14 - SECOND LAYER — THE CITY OF FRACTURED SKY

The moment the system forced the transition, the world around Tony shattered without warning.

It wasn't like entering a dungeon.

There was no gate, no delay, no preparation.

Reality itself seemed to split apart, pulling everything into a collapsing point before reconstructing it somewhere else entirely. For a brief moment, Tony felt weightless—like he was suspended between two versions of existence. Then the sensation ended abruptly.

The ground beneath his feet returned.

But it wasn't the same ground.

---

Tony opened his eyes slowly.

The sky above him was… broken.

Not metaphorically.

Physically.

---

Cracks stretched across the sky like fractured glass, glowing faintly with shifting colors. Pieces of it seemed slightly misaligned, as if the entire layer had been damaged and never properly repaired. Some parts moved slowly, drifting out of place before snapping back again.

"…So this is the Second Layer," Tony muttered.

---

Around him, the others began to recover.

Chris pushed himself up first, scanning the surroundings with sharp focus. "…This isn't like Nexus Strata," he said. "The structure… it's unstable."

John groaned from the ground. "…I hate this already." He looked up—and immediately froze. "…Why does the sky look like it's about to fall on us?"

---

Emily stood silently.

Her gaze wasn't on the sky.

It was on Tony.

---

"…He's still changing," she thought.

"…And this place… it might make it worse."

---

She looked away quickly.

"…I need to decide soon."

---

THE CITY OF FRACTURED SKY

---

They stood at the edge of what looked like a massive city.

But unlike the First Layer, this one wasn't organized.

It was broken.

---

Buildings leaned at impossible angles.

Some floated partially above the ground.

Others were split in half, yet still standing.

Bridges connected structures that didn't align properly.

---

And everywhere—

Players.

---

But these weren't beginners.

---

Their presence was sharper.

Heavier.

More dangerous.

---

Chris lowered his voice. "…Second Layer players."

John whispered, "…They feel… different."

---

Emily nodded slightly. "…They've adapted."

Then she added quietly—

"…Or survived long enough to become something else."

---

Tony stepped forward without hesitation.

"…Then let's not waste time."

---

FIRST CONTACT — NEW PLAYERS

---

As they entered the city, the attention shifted toward them almost instantly.

Eyes followed.

Conversations stopped.

Tension spread.

---

"…New arrivals…"

"…They came early…"

"…Something's wrong…"

---

A group approached from the side.

Not aggressively.

But not friendly either.

---

Five players.

All armed.

All experienced.

---

Their leader stepped forward—a tall man with a calm but calculating expression.

"…You're not supposed to be here yet," he said.

---

Chris stepped slightly in front. "…System forced transfer."

---

The man's eyes narrowed.

"…That means one thing."

He looked past Chris—

Directly at Tony.

---

"…You're the reason."

---

Silence followed.

---

Tony didn't deny it.

"…Maybe."

---

The group exchanged glances.

Then—

The man smiled slightly.

---

"…Then you're either very valuable…"

"…Or very dangerous."

---

Emily's voice came cold. "…Or both."

---

The man nodded. "…Fair."

He extended his hand slightly.

"…Name's Kaelen. Leader of the 'Shard Wolves'."

---

Tony didn't take the hand.

"…Tony."

---

Kaelen didn't seem offended.

Instead—

He looked interested.

---

"…Then I'll give you advice," he said. "…This layer doesn't work like the first."

---

Chris frowned. "…Meaning?"

---

Kaelen's expression darkened slightly.

"…Here, survival isn't about strength."

---

"…It's about choosing who you stand with."

---

NEW THREAT — SKY FRACTURES

---

Before anyone could respond—

The sky cracked.

---

A loud, sharp sound echoed across the entire city.

---

Everyone looked up.

---

One of the fractures widened suddenly.

---

Then—

Something fell.

---

Fast.

---

Chris reacted instantly. "Incoming!"

---

The object hit the ground nearby.

---

Hard.

---

The impact sent shockwaves across the area.

---

Dust cleared slowly.

---

Revealing—

A creature.

---

ENEMY: FRACTURED BEAST

---

Its body looked unstable.

Like it was constantly breaking apart and reforming.

Pieces of it flickered in and out of existence.

---

Its eyes locked onto the nearest players.

---

Then—

It attacked.

---

SECOND LAYER COMBAT

---

The Shard Wolves moved instantly.

---

Coordinated.

---

Precise.

---

Kaelen gave a single command.

"…Formation."

---

They surrounded the creature, attacking in sync.

---

Chris joined them without hesitation.

"Blade Drive: Chain Strike!"

---

Emily activated her ability.

"Precision Lock: Stability Break!"

---

But something was wrong.

---

The attacks—

Didn't land properly.

---

The creature shifted—

Its body phasing slightly.

---

"…It's unstable!" Emily shouted.

"…Normal attacks won't work!"

---

Tony stepped forward.

---

His Fracture Sense activated again.

---

The world shifted.

---

He saw it instantly.

---

"…It's not dodging," he said.

"…It's existing in multiple states."

---

Kaelen glanced at him. "…Then how do we hit it?"

---

Tony raised his hand.

---

The distortion returned.

---

"…You don't hit it normally."

---

TONY'S NEW POWER TEST

---

He moved forward.

---

Slow.

---

Controlled.

---

The creature lunged.

---

Tony didn't dodge.

---

He stepped into it.

---

And—

Touched it.

---

The distortion expanded.

---

For a split second—

---

The creature froze.

---

All its shifting states—

Aligned.

---

"…Now," Tony said quietly.

---

Chris reacted instantly.

---

"Blade Drive: Breaker Slash!"

---

The attack landed clean.

---

The creature cracked—

Then shattered completely.

---

Silence followed.

---

Kaelen stared at Tony.

"…You just forced it into one state."

---

Tony shrugged slightly.

"…Something like that."

---

EMILY'S DECISION BEGINS

---

Emily watched everything.

---

Carefully.

---

Analyzing.

---

"…He's getting stronger faster than the system can handle."

"…And now… even this layer reacts to him."

---

She looked at Kaelen.

Then at the surrounding players.

---

"…If others realize what he is…"

"…They won't just watch."

---

Her thoughts darkened slightly.

---

"…And if I stay with him…"

"…I'll be targeted too."

---

For the first time—

The thought wasn't hesitation.

---

It was calculation.

---

High above the fractured sky—

Another crack opened.

But this one—

Didn't release a creature.

---

It watched.

---

Something far stronger than before—

Had noticed Tony's arrival in the Second Layer.

---

❓ FINAL QUESTION:

👉 If stronger entities are already watching Tony in the Second Layer… how long before one of them decides to hunt him directly?
