Chapter 1 - Deletion Wasn’t the End

The world didn't end with explosions, war, or chaos—it ended with silence, the kind of silence that felt wrong, as if something invisible had pressed a delete button on reality itself, and in that moment, Tony realized he was watching people disappear, not die, not scream, just… vanish, their bodies breaking apart into fragments of light like corrupted data, while a cold, emotionless voice echoed across the sky—"Selection Complete. Non-qualified entities will now be removed."—and before he could even understand what was happening, a translucent screen appeared in front of his eyes, glowing with a message that froze his blood, "Status: Unregistered." "Action: Deletion in progress."—but the strange part wasn't the fear, it wasn't the chaos around him, it was the fact that when the countdown reached zero… nothing happened.

Tony didn't move.

He didn't breathe.

Around him, reality continued to collapse.

A man a few steps ahead reached out for help, his fingers trembling—then his entire arm shattered into particles, his body dissolving like broken code before vanishing completely. A woman screamed behind Tony, her voice cutting through the unnatural silence—only to be cut off mid-sound as she disappeared without a trace.

No blood.

No bodies.

Just… deletion.

Tony clenched his fists.

"What the hell is this…?"

His voice felt small. Powerless.

Above the ruined skyline, something shimmered—lines of light forming symbols that didn't belong to any language he knew. The sky itself looked fractured, like glass under pressure, cracks spreading slowly across the horizon.

Then the voice returned.

"System Initialization Complete."

"Beginning Phase One: Selection."

More screens appeared.

Not just in front of Tony—but everywhere.

Floating panels hovered before every remaining person, glowing with different colors, different symbols, different outcomes.

Tony turned his head slowly.

A boy not far from him stared at his screen, eyes wide—then suddenly, light burst from his body, forming armor made of pure energy.

Another man laughed in disbelief as flames ignited around his hands.

"They're getting powers…?" Tony whispered.

His heart began to pound.

This wasn't random.

This was selection.

A game.

No—a system.

And he wasn't part of it.

Tony looked back at his own screen.

It hadn't changed.

Still the same cold message:

"Status: Unregistered."

"Action: Deletion in progress."

"…Why me?"

For the first time, fear crept into his chest.

Everyone else was being chosen.

Given something.

Power. Ability. Purpose.

But him?

He was being erased.

Or at least… he was supposed to be.

The countdown appeared again.

10…

Tony's breathing became sharp.

9…

"Wait—wait, there has to be a mistake…"

8…

He reached out, trying to touch the screen—but his hand passed through it like it wasn't even real.

7…

"System! Stop—!"

No response.

6…

Around him, more people disappeared.

More screams.

More silence.

5…

Tony's chest tightened.

4…

He didn't want to die.

Not like this.

Not without understanding.

3…

His thoughts raced.

There had to be a way.

A glitch.

A loophole.

Something.

2…

The world felt like it was holding its breath.

1…

And then—

0.

Nothing happened.

Tony blinked.

Once.

Twice.

"…What?"

The screen flickered.

For a brief moment, the words distorted.

Glitched.

Then—

Everything froze.

The sky.

The people.

Even the falling debris suspended mid-air.

Time itself seemed to stop.

A new message appeared.

Not like the others.

This one was broken.

Corrupted.

Unreadable symbols flashed rapidly across the screen, overlapping, rewriting themselves again and again.

Tony stepped back.

"What is this…?"

The voice returned—but this time…

It wasn't stable.

"Error… detected…"

"Unregistered entity… not found…"

"…contradiction…"

"…re-evaluating…"

Tony's eyes widened.

"Error…?"

The word echoed in his mind.

The screen pulsed violently.

"Deletion failed."

Everything went silent.

Completely silent.

Then—

A new line appeared.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

As if something was deciding.

"Reclassification…"

Tony felt it.

A strange sensation spreading through his body.

Not pain.

Not fear.

Something else.

Something… wrong.

"Entity status…"

The text flickered.

Glitched.

Changed.

Again and again.

Until finally—

It stopped.

"Status: ERROR."

Tony's breath caught.

"…Error?"

The word felt heavy.

Wrong.

Like it didn't belong to him.

Or maybe…

He didn't belong to the world anymore.

The system paused.

As if observing him.

Analyzing.

Judging.

Then—

"New directive unavailable."

"System unable to process entity."

For the first time since it began—

The system didn't know what to do.

Tony stared at the screen.

His heart was racing now—not from fear…

But from something else.

Something rising.

"If I'm not deleted…"

He swallowed.

"…then what am I?"

The world resumed.

Time snapped back into motion.

The sky continued to crack.

People continued to scream.

The system continued to choose.

But Tony—

Tony was no longer part of it.

The screen in front of him slowly faded.

But not completely.

A faint outline remained.

Glitching.

Waiting.

Watching.

And deep within that broken interface—

Something moved.

Something that wasn't part of the original system.

Something that had noticed him.

Tony took a slow step forward.

For the first time since everything began—

He wasn't afraid.

Because somewhere, deep down…

He realized something terrifying.

If the system couldn't control him…

Then maybe—

He wasn't bound by it either.

And as that thought settled in his mind—

A final message appeared.

Small.

Barely visible.

But real.

"Initializing… Unknown Function…"

Tony's eyes sharpened.

"…What?"

The message flickered once.

Then stabilized.

"Ability Detected: [???]"

And for the first time—

Tony smiled.

A slow, dangerous smile.

Because whatever this was…

It didn't feel like survival anymore.

It felt like the beginning of something far more dangerous.
