Chapter 20 - WHEN THE SYSTEM HUNTS — THE FIRST AWAKENING

The Veiled Domain was silent in a way that felt unnatural—not empty, but untouched. It wasn't the silence of peace. It was the silence of something that had never been fully discovered. Floating landmasses drifted slowly across an endless sky, and the ancient structures surrounding Tony and the others stood as quiet witnesses to something far older than the system itself.

For the first time since entering the tower, Tony felt something different.

Not pressure.

Not danger.

But absence.

The system wasn't here.

Not watching.

Not reacting.

Not interfering.

And yet—

That didn't mean it had stopped.

---

"…It's trying to find you."

The voice came from behind.

Tony turned slightly to see the same Veiled figure standing nearby, their presence as calm and unreadable as before.

"…You can feel it?" Tony asked.

The figure nodded faintly. "…Not directly. But the system doesn't ignore anomalies like you."

Chris crossed his arms, looking uneasy. "…So what happens when it does find him?"

The answer came without hesitation.

"…It won't attack him."

A pause.

"…It will attack everything around him."

---

Silence followed.

---

John's voice broke it first. "…That's worse."

Emily didn't speak, but her eyes shifted slightly toward Tony.

"…So it's going to force him out," she thought.

"…By making survival impossible for everyone else."

---

Tony exhaled slowly.

"…Then we don't give it that chance."

---

DEEPER LORE — BEFORE THE SYSTEM

---

They moved deeper into the Veiled structure, guided through corridors carved with symbols that pulsed faintly with energy. These weren't system markings. They didn't resemble code or data. They felt… alive.

Eventually, they entered a wide chamber.

At its center—

A massive construct hovered.

---

Not mechanical.

Not organic.

---

Something in between.

---

"…This," the Veiled figure said, "…is a memory anchor."

---

Chris frowned. "…Meaning?"

---

"…It holds fragments of the world before the system."

---

Tony stepped forward.

"…Show me."

---

The figure raised a hand.

The construct activated.

---

And the world changed.

---

THE WORLD BEFORE

---

Tony didn't feel his body anymore.

He stood somewhere else.

---

A vast world stretched before him—alive, vibrant, and chaotic in a way that felt completely different from the structured layers of the system. There were no levels, no notifications, no restrictions.

Only power.

---

Entities moved freely.

Some looked human.

Others—

Didn't.

---

Mountains shifted.

Oceans split.

The sky itself changed color.

---

"…This was the original world," a voice echoed.

---

Tony watched silently.

---

"…There were no rules."

"…No limits."

"…Only those who could shape reality… and those who couldn't."

---

Then—

Everything changed.

---

The scene darkened.

---

A force appeared.

---

Not visible.

Not physical.

---

But absolute.

---

"…The system was created," the voice continued.

"…Not to control the world…"

"…But to survive it."

---

Tony's eyes narrowed slightly.

---

"…So it wasn't the enemy," he said.

---

"…Not at first."

---

The scene shifted again.

---

The system grew.

Expanded.

Adapted.

---

And slowly—

It began to rewrite everything.

---

"…It brought order," the voice said.

"…But in doing so… it erased what came before."

---

The vision ended.

---

BACK TO REALITY

---

Tony's eyes opened slowly.

The chamber returned.

The Veiled figures stood around him.

---

"…So Authority…" he said quietly.

"…Is what remains of that world."

---

The figure nodded.

"…Fragments of unrestricted existence."

---

Chris ran a hand through his hair. "…So basically, the system and that power… are completely opposite."

---

"…Yes," the figure said.

"…And they cannot coexist forever."

---

Emily finally spoke.

"…So what happens when they collide?"

---

The answer was simple.

---

"…One erases the other."

---

Silence.

---

SYSTEM RETALIATION BEGINS

---

Without warning—

The Veiled Domain trembled.

---

Not violently.

---

But sharply.

---

The sky above flickered.

---

Something was wrong.

---

The Veiled figure's expression shifted slightly.

"…That's not possible."

---

Tony looked up.

"…It found us."

---

A DIFFERENT KIND OF ATTACK

---

The system didn't appear.

It didn't send an entity.

---

Instead—

Reality itself began to distort.

---

The floating islands shifted unnaturally.

The sky glitched.

The structures flickered.

---

Chris stepped back. "…This feels like the dungeon earlier…"

---

Emily shook her head slightly.

"…No."

"…This is worse."

---

The Veiled figure spoke quickly.

"…It's not entering the domain."

"…It's trying to overwrite it."

---

Tony's eyes sharpened.

"…So it can't reach me directly…"

"…But it can break everything around me."

---

Exactly as warned.

---

TONY'S NEXT STAGE

---

The distortion around Tony appeared again.

---

But this time—

It reacted faster.

---

Stronger.

---

"…Then I stop it here," he said.

---

The Veiled figure stepped forward immediately.

"…No."

---

Tony glanced at them.

"…If you resist directly, it will escalate."

---

"…Then what do I do?"

---

A pause.

---

"…You don't fight it."

"…You become something it can't overwrite."

---

Silence.

---

Tony understood.

---

He stepped forward.

---

Closed his eyes.

---

And let the power move.

---

THE FIRST AWAKENING

---

The distortion expanded.

---

But not outward.

---

Inward.

---

It pulled everything toward him—

---

Not physically.

---

But conceptually.

---

The space around him stabilized.

---

The glitches—

Stopped.

---

For a moment—

The system's influence paused.

---

Everyone stared.

---

"…What did he just do?" Chris whispered.

---

The Veiled figure answered softly.

---

"…He anchored himself."

---

Tony opened his eyes.

---

The distortion was gone.

---

But something had changed.

---

"…I see it now," he said quietly.

---

"…The difference."

---

Far beyond the Veiled Domain—

The system stopped its attack.

---

Not because it failed.

---

But because—

It recognized something new.

---

Something it had been trying to erase for a very long time.

---

❓ FINAL QUESTION:

👉 If Tony becomes something the system cannot overwrite… will it try to destroy him—or rewrite the entire world to eliminate him?
