Chapter 12 - THE EXECUTIONER DESCENDS

The tear in space above the chamber widened slowly, stretching beyond what should have been possible. It didn't look like a portal anymore—it looked like something had been forcefully ripped open. The pressure that followed was suffocating, far heavier than anything the Watchers had released before. Even the air seemed to collapse inward, as if reality itself was bracing for what was about to come through.

Tony didn't move.

He stood still, eyes fixed on the expanding tear, while the distortion around his body pulsed faintly. It reacted instinctively, as if it recognized the threat before he fully understood it.

Behind him, John dropped to one knee again, struggling to breathe. "I—I can't… this is way worse than before…"

Chris clenched his fists, forcing himself to stand upright. "This isn't normal pressure… this is suppression." His voice was tight. "They're not sending someone to fight…"

"…They're sending someone to erase."

Emily didn't speak at first. Her gaze was locked onto Tony, not the tear above. There was something in her expression now—something uncertain. Something calculating.

"…If he keeps going like this," she thought silently, "…we won't survive being near him."

That thought lingered longer than it should have.

Then—

Something stepped through.

---

The moment it appeared, the chamber went silent.

Not naturally.

Forced.

---

A tall figure emerged from the tear, clad in dark, seamless armor that absorbed light rather than reflecting it. Unlike the Watchers, there were no visible symbols, no glowing patterns—just a smooth, featureless surface that radiated absolute control.

Its face was hidden behind a mask.

Its presence—

Overwhelming.

---

The system reacted instantly.

[ENTITY DETECTED: UNKNOWN CLASS]

[THREAT LEVEL: S-RANK]

[DESIGNATION: EXECUTIONER]

---

John froze completely. "…S-Rank…?" His voice barely came out. "…That's not possible… not in the First Layer…"

Chris's grip tightened on his weapon. "…It's not supposed to be."

The Watchers stepped aside without hesitation, lowering their heads slightly.

"…Executioner unit has arrived," one of them said.

The figure didn't respond.

It simply looked at Tony.

---

"…Target confirmed."

---

Its voice was flat.

Emotionless.

Absolute.

---

Tony exhaled slowly. "So you're the next step."

The Executioner tilted its head slightly. "…You have exceeded acceptable parameters." A pause followed. "…Correction required."

Tony smiled faintly. "You all talk the same."

---

Then—

It moved.

---

No warning.

No build-up.

---

It vanished.

---

Tony's instincts screamed.

Fracture Step activated instantly.

---

But this time—

He was too slow.

---

The impact hit his side.

Hard.

---

Tony was thrown across the chamber, crashing into the wall with enough force to crack it. The distortion around his body flickered violently, barely stabilizing the damage.

Chris shouted, "Tony!"

Emily's eyes widened slightly. "…He couldn't react?"

---

Tony pushed himself up slowly, wiping a small trace of blood from his lip.

"…That's new."

---

The Executioner stood where he had been moments ago, completely still.

"…Reaction time insufficient," it stated.

---

Tony stepped forward again.

"…Then I'll fix that."

---

THE FIRST REAL FIGHT

---

Tony activated his power again, the distortion around him expanding further than before. It wasn't stable—but it was stronger.

He moved first this time.

Fracture Step.

---

He appeared directly in front of the Executioner.

---

And struck.

---

The distortion wrapped around his fist as it connected—

---

But the Executioner didn't move.

---

It blocked.

---

Easily.

---

Tony's eyes narrowed.

"…You're not just fast."

---

The Executioner countered instantly.

A single strike.

---

Tony barely managed to shift—

---

The attack grazed him—

---

And the space behind him shattered.

---

Chris froze. "…That wasn't power…"

"…That was precision."

---

TEAM UNDER PRESSURE

---

"Move together!" Chris shouted.

He charged in, activating his ability at full output.

"Blade Drive: Overload!"

---

Multiple strikes hit the Executioner simultaneously—

---

But none of them landed cleanly.

---

Every attack was deflected.

---

Every movement predicted.

---

Emily followed, targeting weak points.

"Precision Lock: Multi-Trace!"

---

But something was wrong.

---

"…There are no weak points," she whispered.

---

John raised his barrier again, reinforcing it desperately.

"…I can't support this for long!"

---

The Executioner moved again.

---

Faster.

---

It broke through Chris's attack—

---

Dodged Emily—

---

And appeared in front of John.

---

John froze.

"…Oh no—"

---

The strike came down.

---

Tony moved.

---

Fracture Step.

---

He intercepted it.

---

The impact shook the entire chamber.

---

Tony's distortion flared violently—

Barely holding.

---

"…You don't get to ignore me," Tony said quietly.

---

THE TURNING POINT

---

The Executioner paused.

---

For the first time—

It acknowledged him.

---

"…Adaptation detected," it said.

"…Escalating."

---

The pressure increased instantly.

---

Tony felt it.

---

Not just physical pressure.

---

System pressure.

---

The system was actively supporting the Executioner.

---

"…So that's how it is," Tony muttered.

"…You're not fighting alone."

---

Behind him, Emily hesitated.

Her eyes shifted between Tony and the Executioner.

A thought crossed her mind again.

---

"If we stay with him… we'll all die."

---

Her hand tightened slightly.

---

Then loosened.

---

"…Not yet," she whispered to herself.

---

TONY BREAKS FURTHER

---

Tony stepped forward again.

---

"…Let's push it further."

---

The distortion expanded again.

---

This time—

It spread beyond his body.

---

The space around him warped.

---

The system reacted violently.

---

[CRITICAL ERROR DETECTED]

[REALITY INSTABILITY RISING]

[FORCED SUPPRESSION FAILED]

---

The Executioner moved again.

---

But this time—

---

Tony saw it.

---

Clearly.

---

Fracture Sense evolved.

---

Not just seeing cracks—

---

Predicting movement.

---

He moved at the same time.

---

The two collided.

---

Blow after blow.

---

Speed beyond normal perception.

---

The chamber began to collapse.

---

Cracks spreading across everything.

---

Reality itself struggling to keep up.

---

EXTREME CLASH

---

Tony took a hit—

But returned one instantly.

---

The Executioner adapted—

But Tony adapted faster.

---

Each exchange—

Faster.

Sharper.

More dangerous.

---

Chris whispered, "…He's keeping up…"

---

Emily corrected quietly.

"…No…"

"…He's surpassing it."

---

FINAL MOMENT

---

The Executioner raised its hand.

---

A final attack forming.

---

Tony did the same.

---

Both powers—

Colliding.

---

The entire chamber exploded.

---

Light.

Distortion.

Silence.

---

,

When the dust cleared—

Only one figure remained standing.

---

And the system—

For the first time—

Stopped responding.

---

❓ FINAL QUESTION:

👉If Tony can defeat an S-Rank Executioner this early… what will happen when the system sends something it can't afford to lose?
