Chapter 8 - The Truth Before the Wedding

Dr. Kevin was planning something that could help bring back Saarah's lost memory. He knew that time was running out, and if Saarah married Ryan before remembering the truth, everything would be lost forever. He couldn't let that happen. After thinking deeply, he came up with an idea — a risky but hopeful one. He decided to call Saarah's friends to the wedding. Maybe they could help trigger her memories… and if needed, help her escape this marriage.

Quietly, without informing anyone, Dr. Kevin went to Saarah's room and searched for any clue that could lead him to her past. He found an old diary. Inside it, there were a few contact numbers. He knew this was wrong — invading her privacy — but he felt helpless. He had no other option. Saarah's life was at stake.

After checking several numbers, he finally found one that worked. The name saved was Emma.

He immediately called.

On the other side, a girl picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

Dr. Kevin spoke carefully, "Am I speaking to Emma… Saarah's friend?"

There was a pause. Then she replied, "Yes… I am Saarah's best friend, Emma. But who are you? And where is Saarah? I haven't spoken to her for a long time."

Dr. Kevin took a deep breath and said, "I am Dr. Kevin. Do you know that Saarah is going to get married to Ryan?"

There was complete silence for a moment.

Then Emma spoke in shock, "What?! No… that's not possible. I… I can't talk about this on the phone. I'm coming there right now. I need to see her. I'll tell you everything in person."

Without wasting any time, Emma arrived.

The moment she saw Saarah, she ran towards her and hugged her tightly, almost as if she had found someone she had lost forever. Saarah was surprised at first, but as she looked at Emma, something inside her heart moved.

Faint flashes started appearing in her mind — laughter, classrooms, college corridors, studying together, sharing secrets…

She couldn't remember everything clearly, but she felt a deep connection.

Saarah smiled unconsciously, feeling a strange warmth.

But on the other side, Ryan was not happy at all.

The moment he saw Emma, his face turned pale. It was as if his past had suddenly returned to haunt him. Sweat formed on his forehead. His eyes showed fear.

Emma looked at Ryan and said sarcastically, "Wow… this is really something. You both are getting married without even informing me?"

Ryan tried to stay calm and asked, "How did you find out about the wedding?"

Emma glanced at Kevin for a second. Kevin subtly gestured her not to reveal anything.

Emma smiled lightly and said, "A special friend told me."

Later, Dr. Kevin messaged Emma and asked her to meet him on the terrace.

When Emma arrived, Kevin explained everything — Saarah's accident, her memory loss, and how she was now about to marry Ryan without remembering anything.

Emma's face became serious. There was tension in her eyes.

She said, "Dr. Kevin, we have to bring back Saarah's memory… no matter what. Because if she marries Ryan like this, she will regret it for her entire life."

Kevin frowned slightly and asked, "Why? What happened between them?"

Emma took a deep breath.

She was about to reveal a truth that would shake Kevin completely.

"Three years ago," Emma began, "Saarah and Ryan met in college. It was love at first sight. At first, they became friends… very close friends. Then slowly, their friendship turned into love. One day, Ryan proposed to Saarah, and she accepted. They entered into a relationship."

"They were very happy together. They understood each other perfectly. They hardly fought. Their bond was strong."

"After one year, their college ended. Saarah started working in event management, while Ryan joined his father's business and eventually became the CEO."

"Even though they were both busy, they always made time for each other. They truly loved each other."

Kevin listened carefully.

Emma continued.

"Everything was perfect… until Alice came into Ryan's life."

Kevin immediately understood and said, "You mean… Alice? Ryan's friend?"

Emma nodded.

"Yes, I'm talking about the same Alice."

"At first, she entered Ryan's life as a client. Their ideas matched perfectly, and they started working together. She helped him grow his business, and Ryan admired her intelligence."

"But at that time, Saarah and Ryan's relationship was still fine."

"The real problem started when Ryan and Alice became business partners."

"Slowly, Ryan became extremely busy. He started ignoring Saarah. He barely had time for her. Instead, he spent most of his time with Alice."

"At first, Saarah didn't mind. She understood that he was busy with work. She trusted him."

"But gradually… Ryan started changing."

"The more Saarah tried to understand him, the more he started hurting her."

"He began comparing Saarah with Alice."

Emma's voice trembled slightly as she continued.

"He started criticizing Saarah's simple appearance. Sometimes… he even humiliated her in front of Alice."

Kevin's expression turned serious.

Emma continued, "He used to say things like — 'I made a mistake by making you my girlfriend. You are not even worthy. Look at Alice… she is stylish, confident, perfect. And look at yourself.'"

"These words broke Saarah completely."

"She cried a lot… but she still didn't leave him."

"Because she loved him too much."

"To keep him happy, she started changing herself. She tried to become like Alice — her clothes, her hairstyle, her makeup… everything."

"She lost her identity."

"She stopped being Saarah… just to get Ryan's attention."

"But even after all that… Ryan still preferred Alice."

"He spent more time with her, talked to her more, and ignored Saarah."

Emma paused for a moment.

Then she continued,

"One day, it got worse."

"It was Alice's birthday. Ryan decided to celebrate it at his house. Saarah also agreed happily because she thought — if Alice is important to Ryan, she should accept her too."

"During the party, accidentally, Saarah spilled a drink on Alice's dress."

"Alice didn't mind at all. She said it was okay."

"But Ryan…"

Emma's voice became heavy.

"Ryan lost his temper. In front of everyone… he slapped Saarah."

Kevin's eyes widened in shock.

Emma continued,

"That moment shattered Saarah completely."

"She felt humiliated, broken, and disrespected."

"In anger and pain, she left the house immediately."

"After that, she stayed away from Ryan for a few days."

"But then…"

Emma sighed.

"Ryan realized his mistake. He went to Saarah's house, apologized, and tried to convince her."

"He told her he was wrong… that he didn't mean it."

"And Saarah… she forgave him."

Kevin closed his eyes for a moment, absorbing everything.

Emma continued,

"Ryan then suggested that they should go on a vacation together. He said it would help them spend time together and fix everything."

"Saarah got happy. She believed him again."

"She thought this trip would bring them closer… that everything would go back to normal."

"She trusted him again…"

Emma looked at Kevin.

"But she didn't know… that things were not going to be the same anymore."

Kevin stood there, completely silent.

The truth he had just heard… had shaken him deeply.

Now everything made sense.

Ryan's fear… his control… the medicines… the urgency to marry Saarah…

Kevin realized one thing clearly —

Saarah was not safe with Ryan.

And now, more than ever…

He had to bring back her memory.
