Chapter 8 - In The Chairman's Office

"I wonder what the Chairman would want with a newly awakened card master... Sure, I know I'm the first S rank potential ever, but still... I wonder if it has something to do with that news update... ...".

Three days ago...

Breaking News: "...The eight man squadron, sent to scout the perimeter of the third mayhem tower have all mysteriously vanished from all forms of surveillance and contact. From the Masters Guild Headquarters, the last transmission for their location was in the outskirts of the ruins of Marigold City, east of The New Lotus Alliance. Experts are concerned, whether a major crisis was lurking in the shadows waiting to show itself. They fear a magic beast at fault...

For monster to eliminate a team of highly skilled masters, it had to be at least a diamond tier- mythic grade beast... ..."

"A Diamond Tier?! And it's mythic grade?!!... interesting... In Magi-Card, monster and items were graded while cards had numerical tiers. The grades were Terrestrial, Celestial and mythic grade.

If mythic grade beasts were loose in Marigold City, I have to go there someday..."

Back to The Present:

"If it's related to that... ..."

The guards led Min-jun to an office on the far end of the last floor of the guild building. This was the office of The Guild Master and Main Administrative Chairman of the New Lotus Alliance Card Masters. Beyond the black auto-door before Min-jun, sat the card master that single handedly tore through three floor when he awakened.

Min-jun was still, observing the sheer amount of aura penetrating the very frame of the door. To him, it was obvious, he was expecting him.

Without the conscent of the guards, he opened the door badging into the office unannounced.

The guards behind tried to stop him, but they were held in place when the Chairman excused Min-jun.

"Welcome Mr. SHADE, I've heard great things from the head examiner. If anything, you should be the one sitting in this chair right now..."

Min-jun was indifferent, a nonchalant vibe around him as he slumped into the lounge chair beside him. Behind The Chairman, there was his Deputy Master, Hyun-Seo. He was a tall, slightly built man, his pitch black hair, a stark contrast from his superior's grey hair. Hyun-Seo was silent, a look of hidden disdain in his visage.

Min-jun knew it was towards him, but at that point in his life, he had knelt too much. And now that he was powerful enough to put his foes in their place, he was not about to kneel.

He looked at the Chairman, his mask carrying an intimidating visage to his character.

"Chairman Kang-min, I'm honoured that you hold me with such regard, however, I wasn't the one who gave humanity the hope to thrive, now,was I ?"

"... Is that so, Mr. SHADE... Or should I call you... Player One?!"

"I'm afraid I haven't the slightest idea what you are referring to, Chairman Kang-min".

The room was heavy, the weight of silent awkwardness palpable. Deputy Hyun-Seo was tense, his disdain still slightly visible as his eyes were glued to Min-jun.

"I don't think you had me brought up here to ask questions of such meager caliber, old man... Do you mind getting to the point? I'm a busy man..."

Min-jun was never one to mince his words. He was blunt, saying what he felt without restraint. This behavior brought Hyun-Seo to the point of no return, a sharp voice raising at Min-jun in defense of the old man in question.

"Show some respect to the Chairman, you swine?!!!!"

Min-jun, although calm was immediately revolted by the insult. Unable to hold back the killing intent in his gaze, he made it clear that he had had enough of being insulted by just anyone with a standing in society.

With a voice crisp and cold as arctic ice, he spoke...

"What did you say?!!!! I would urge you, Deputy Hyun-Seo, to know your place...unless you'd rather I put you there myself!!!!!"

Although Hyun-Seo thought of Min-jun as a privileged noble greenhorn, he couldn't move when those firey red eyes glared holes into him. He was utterly crippled, even forgetting how to breathe.

Chairman Kang-min intervened on Hyun-Seo's behalf, sparring him from Min-jun's vengeance.

"Mr. SHADE, do calm down and forgive my insolent deputy..."

Although matters in the office were yet to be put across, tensions had already risen... ...
