Min-jun had just finished clearing the ogre horde. Dispelling the tactical avian surveillance droids, he called back his army of summons. The only summon remaining at his side was Avalon.
"I wish I could've turned a blind eye to what I had seen, or even ignore it or better still, if I had never seen it at all. But that would make me the same as her. She knew I wasn't the father of that child, knew that I was trying hard to give them a better life. But all this time..."
"... It's settled!! Avalon!! We're moving out!!"
Dashing across the desolate ruins, the vague silence spoke volumes. Min-jun was sure of his choice. In the pursuit of revenge, he would not corrupt his judgment. Leaping of a capsized building, he caught a glimpse of where the young miss was about to be assaulted.
"Hey, don't you dare try anything funny you stupid b*tch!!!"
"What do you want from me?!!!!!"
"Isn't it obvious, we want your items!!!"
"Yeah!! So be a good girl and hand them over and maybe, just maybe, we'll let you go unscathed".
"But boss, you promised we could do what we pleased with her after we got the mythic grade artifact~!!!"
"Oh! Shut it you moron!!! She didn't know that?!!"
Backed to a corner, a pink haired young miss was riddled with cuts and bruises, but still holding on to dear life. In her hands, she held her magic staff, although with a shaky grip. The situation looked grim. Was she to take the word of common thieves at face value? No, she wasn't that naive.
She had erected a barrier of light around her, stopping the brutes from getting to her. She knew the barrier wouldn't last for long and sadly, so did her pursuers.
"Not long now... ...", Said the boss of the group, knowing she would soon run out of Magical Energy.
From meters away, Min-jun calmly stood on the edge of a broken wall, using Shadow magic to conceal his presence in the dusty haze.
"Two warrior classes, a berserker and I think their boss is a knight... Judging from their appearances, its highly likely that they've been at this robbery thing for quite some time... Despicable!!... ... they're not that far from the Stronghold, which means they know people to be able to operate this close to a safe zone without consequences... Not that it matters to me, they won't see my face".
Turning to Avalon, he issued a command, "stay here, if any pest manages to get past me, I need you to handle them, no mercy....."
"As you command, Master".
Stepping off the broken wall, he left Avalon to his assigned post.
"Cr*p!!! My barrier is breaking, at this rate, I won't make me back in time... I was so close".
Notice: Player Yuna's Mana levels have dropped considerably...
Current percentage: 3%
Light Barrier efficacy: 2%
"Step back! Let me have a go at it!!"
"Oh~Oh! Now you've done it!! With the boss's unique skill, your barrier is as good as gone!!!"
"It's about time!! I can't wait to have fun with you!!!!".
As the crony said this, he licked his lips in an obscene manner, horrifying the girl.
Their boss, a well-built fully armoured man, stood at a distance, sword drawn as he activated a unique skill... ...
"Dawn Breaking Slash!!!"
Torrents of light radiated from his sword, his dull green hair fluttering in waves over his shoulders.
From afar, Min-jun calmly assessed the situation.
"Why is a brute like that using an expensive skill?! That confirms it, they aren't working alone. On second thought, I'll keep at least two of them alive for questions".
Charging at the barrier with a sinister expression that reflected his motives, the boss was prepared to shatter the barrier and claim the mythic grade artifact.
His sword closed in, and soon after, a loud explosion ruptured the desolate silence.
A billow of dust shot up, masking the area in a dirty mist. In the smoke and dust, the cronies called out to their boss, looking for confirmation. But there was only silence. As the dust subsided, a dark figure was seen standing in front of the barrier.
The boss's sword had been caught in place by an unknown energy. A sudden wind burst out, clearing away the dust with ease.
The cronies were astonished... Before their very eyes, a dark figure had appeared, and their
"all powerful boss" had been stopped in a single move.
"Who is that?!!!!"
"Boss?!! What happened?!!!"
"I- I can't move!!!! Wh-what did you do - to - me?!!!!"
"Don't force t, you'll only lacerate your muscle tissues..."
Min-jun had appeared in the frey, a calme silhouette that exuded a magic beyond comprehension. This was the true might of the Plague Cleaver.
Dispelling the binding spell, Min-jun gave the boss a chance to back away from the girl and himself.
Turning to the barrier, Min-jun looked at the girl with a slight amusement.
"You're quite the impressive mage... You can deactivate the barrier now..."
The construct of solidified light shattered, and the pink haired girl fell to her knees.
"Summon perishable artifact card: high position - Gold Tier - 1×"
A card appeared in Min-jun's hand and soon after, it dissolved, revealing a vial of cyan-blue liquid. Handing over the vial to the girl, he urged her to drink and replenish her energy.
Tilting the contents of the vial into her mouth, she was awe-struck at the efficiency of the potion.
"Who are you?!", the girl asked, a look of admiration and curiosity plastered so evidently over her visage.
Min-jun turned his attention to the group of vagrants, preparing to put a stop to their machinations.
The vagrants shuttered, the grips on their weapons loosening from the fear of death. They were urged by their boss to stand and fight, while he ironically stood at the rear, spectating the battle.
"I've seen your kind far too many times to forget. Those that prefer not to get their hands dirty with blood, but send others to do it for them. As an accountant, you meet a few clients who are willing to clear away every competition to gain some money in their pocket... One thing about cowards, they always result to drastic measures at the very end".
Min-jun reflected on his past experiences as an accountant, minimum wage salaries and a dead end family that no longer or rather, wasn't even existent in the first place.
"...Hmm, it's kinda satisfying... I never got the chance to smack those dweebs I worked for, I'll have fun with this.."
Blurring from sight, he struck the first assailant with the powerful fist strike from his newly equipped Chaos Gauntlet.
[Gaaaah!!!]
[Cough]-[Cough]!!!!!
Charging at the other two assailants he made his intentions clear to beat them to a bloody pulp. With their swords and shields drawn, they threatened Min-jun, seeing him as a common physique type card master.
"... Don't you think you're out classed, moron!!!!?"
"Yeah!! You could only take down our berserker because he wasn't using weapons!! But we're Swordsman!! We'll give you chance to... ..."
[Snap]!!!!
With a heavy thud, the body of one of the warriors fell flat on the dirt, his neck twisted cleanly.
"Huh?!! Shin!!! What did you do?!!!"
Looking to the side, the remaining two swordsman shuttered to their very bone.
"Who the f*ck are you!!!!"
"Hahahaha!!! Hahaha!!! Hahahaha!!!! Oh!! How pathetic, your expressions are just rich with fear, just how I like it!!! Shock?! Did you think your pewny Iron Tier- Terrestrial Grade gear was gonna what, stop me?!!! Don't make me laugh!!!"
The remaining crony looked at his boss, a visage of fear evident on both of them. The boss gritted his teeth, clenching his fist as he thought of an escape.
"I can't die here, just when I got my big break. She had exactly the artifact the bossman wanted. At this rate, If I go back empty-handed, I'll still be killed... I still haven't used that card".
A sinister grin formed on the boss's face, as he concocted his plan. Charging at his own ally, he plunged his longsword into his chest.
[Stab]!!!
"Sorry Jin-ho, it just has to be this way... ..."
"W-why boss S-eok ?!"
"Classic, seeing everyone around you as pawns for your personal gain..."
"Like you're one to talk?!! I bet they hired you to assassinate her and you're just earning her trust to make it easier!!!"
"Ahh!! It can't be?! Why heal me if you're going to kill me?!!"
"Don't be gullible... Also, you're just buying time to use the sacrificial spell.."
"You catch on quick, but it's already too late!!!! I summon, The Maiden Executioner!!!!! "
A billowing of black dust swirled behind Seok as he summoned The Maiden Executioner.
"It can't be?!! Even in game, The Maiden Executioner was a high tier tactical class spell. With one simple player kill, entire guilds were wiped out in an instant by a single overwhelming gimmick based attack. But, it was removed from current updates, so how did it make it in the merge?! Could it be that even old rules apply in the last game?!"
Min-jun had discovered something huge. Something only a hardcore gamer would realize. With this new development, it meant he could exploit every single old cheat code and shortcut the game had to offer.
He couldn't help but burst into laughter as he prepared to fight the newly buffed Seok. When a single person used The Maiden Executioner, he stacked up enough buffs to power an army of over fifty card masters.
"You think this is funny?!!! I'll end you and the girl, right here and now!!!! At least then I can prove my worth to Boss Seo-jun!!!"
"Seo-jun?!!! Hahaha!! So he's alive?! This is getting even more exciting!!"
