Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Door That Shouldn’t Exist

The tower stood in absolute silence.

No movement.

No reaction.

Just… presence.

Asad kept his hand against its surface for a moment longer, as if waiting for something—anything.

But nothing came.

No pulse.

No warmth.

No connection.

For the first time since entering this world—

He felt… nothing.

Asad slowly pulled his hand back.

"…It's completely cut off."

Leon crossed his arms, staring at the structure.

"…So this thing isn't part of the world."

Asad nodded.

"…Yeah."

"…It's separate."

A faint tension settled in the air.

Leon glanced around.

The grass still moved.

The wind still flowed.

The world was alive—

But this tower?

It felt like an intruder.

"…I don't like this," Leon muttered.

Asad's gaze remained fixed.

"…You shouldn't."

Silence.

Then—

A sound.

Click.

Both of them froze.

Leon's head snapped toward the tower.

"…You heard that, right?"

Asad didn't answer.

Because his eyes were already locked onto it.

A thin line appeared on the surface.

Barely visible at first.

Then—

It widened.

Slowly.

Like something inside was… opening it.

Leon took a step back.

"…That's a door."

Asad's voice dropped slightly.

"…Yeah."

"…A door that shouldn't exist."

The line split further—

Revealing darkness inside.

Not shadows.

Not emptiness.

Just…

Black.

Pure.

Unmoving.

Leon swallowed.

"…We're not actually going in there… right?"

Asad stepped forward.

"…We didn't come this far to turn back."

Leon sighed.

"…Of course you'd say that."

The door opened fully.

No sound.

No force.

Just… invitation.

Asad stood at the edge.

Looking into the darkness.

For a moment—

Even he hesitated.

Not out of fear.

But because—

This felt different.

Not like the world.

Not like the presence watching them.

This felt…

Intentional.

Controlled.

Leon walked up beside him.

"…Feels like it's waiting for us."

Asad nodded slightly.

"…It is."

A pause.

Then—

Without another word—

Asad stepped inside.

Leon blinked.

"…Seriously?!"

He looked back once—

At the open world behind them.

The sky.

The wind.

Freedom.

Then exhaled.

"…Yeah… I'm not letting you go alone."

And he followed.

The moment they crossed the threshold—

Everything changed.

The air disappeared.

The sound vanished.

Even the sense of space—

Felt distorted.

Leon stopped instantly.

"…I hate this."

Asad didn't reply.

Because he was already looking ahead.

A faint light appeared in the darkness.

Far away.

Small.

But steady.

"…We're not alone," Asad said quietly.

Leon groaned.

"…Of course we're not."

They started moving toward the light.

Each step—

Echoed.

But not like footsteps.

More like…

The space itself was reacting.

Watching.

Measuring.

Leon glanced around.

"…This place doesn't feel like a world."

Asad's voice was calm.

"…It isn't."

"…It's constructed."

Leon frowned.

"…Like a system?"

Asad shook his head.

"…No."

"…More controlled than that."

The light grew closer.

And with it—

Details began to form.

A floor.

Smooth.

Endless.

Walls—

But too far to see clearly.

And in the center—

Something stood.

A figure.

Still.

Facing away from them.

Leon slowed down.

"…There it is."

Asad didn't stop.

"…Yeah."

The closer they got—

The clearer it became.

Human shape.

But perfectly still.

Too still.

Like it had been waiting for a long time.

Leon whispered—

"…You think that's… him?"

Asad's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…There's only one way to find out."

They stopped a few steps away.

Silence filled the space.

Heavy.

Unnatural.

Then—

The figure spoke.

"…You took longer than expected."

Leon flinched slightly.

"…Yeah, no. I don't like that."

Asad stepped forward.

"…You're the one behind this?"

A pause.

Then—

The figure slowly turned around.

And for the first time—

They saw its face.

Calm.

Expressionless.

Eyes sharp.

But not human.

"…Behind this?"

It tilted its head slightly.

"…No."

A faint smile formed.

"…I'm just the one who opened the door."

Leon frowned.

"…And that's supposed to be better?"

The figure ignored him.

Its gaze locked onto Asad.

"…You're interesting."

"…Breaking a story is one thing."

A pause.

"…But continuing beyond it?"

Its smile widened slightly.

"…That's rare."

Asad didn't react.

"…Who are you?"

Silence.

Then—

"…A possibility."

Leon blinked.

"…That doesn't answer anything."

The figure's voice remained calm.

"…I'm what happens when a story is never finished."

A pause.

"…And someone decides to keep writing anyway."

Asad's eyes sharpened.

"…So you're not the writer."

The figure nodded slightly.

"…No."

"…I'm what's left behind."

Silence fell again.

Heavy.

Uncertain.

Leon clenched his fists.

"…Okay… I officially don't understand anything anymore."

Asad didn't look away.

"…What do you want?"

The figure's smile faded.

"…To see if you can go further."

A small pause.

"…Or if this is where your story ends."

The light flickered slightly.

The space shifted.

And for the first time—

The feeling wasn't curiosity.

It was pressure.

Real.

Focused.

Testing.

Asad stepped forward.

Unshaken.

"…Then watch closely."

Leon smirked beside him.

"…Yeah."

"…Because we're not stopping here."

The figure's eyes narrowed slightly.

Not annoyed.

Not angry.

Just…

Interested.

Because now—

This wasn't just observation anymore.

It was a test.

And the next step—

Would decide everything. 🔥
