"What is this?" Melanie asked as she watched Leticia open the box and take out an even smaller white plastic case.
"This is the real deal. I wouldn't give this to just anyone who asked." Leticia proudly opened the small white case. "Ta-da! The Demon King's special edition contact lenses!"
Inside the white case floated a small, transparent, circular glass lens. Melanie could clearly sense the magical aura surging within it.
It appeared to be a magical creation.
"I've cast a top-tier 'True Sight' spell on this. It can see through every disguise spell in the world," Leticia introduced with confidence.
As the Demon King, Leticia could be considered the most powerful mage currently known in the world—a formidable existence capable of destroying a city with a single move.
The 'True Sight' she cast certainly had the ability to see through any disguise magic.
"How do you put this on?" Melanie asked with curiosity.
She had never seen such a small gadget before, so naturally, she didn't know how to use it.
"I'll help you," Leticia volunteered. "I'm an expert at this!"
As she said this, she opened Baidu and furiously typed a string of words: How to put in contact lenses.
Why had Leticia left this thing gathering dust on a shelf? Well, of course, it was because she didn't know how to use it.
After trying several times and nearly poking her own eyes out, Leticia had abandoned the idea of using it by herself.
Besides, she didn't really have any use for it; anyone daring enough to pull such petty tricks in front of her would truly be asking for death.
Back when Leticia was the Demon King, her personality was atrocious. Even now, whenever she looked back on it, she would sigh repeatedly, thinking she had truly been obsessed.
However, the Demon race loved that kind of thing, and Demon King Leticia could be considered one of the most popular generations of Demon Kings in history.
"First, lie down, then open your eyes a bit wider," Leticia told Melanie.
Melanie walked over to Leticia's bed and obediently lay down.
As for opening her eyes wider, they were already quite large, so there was no need to force them.
Leticia walked over, carrying the case. Seeing Melanie lying on her bed so obediently, she suddenly felt a strange itch in her heart.
No, no, I cannot be seduced by beauty.
Leticia took a deep breath, steadied her trembling hands, and sat by Melanie's head.
"Hurry, Leticia will get suspicious," Melanie urged.
"Don't worry, it'll only take a few seconds," Leticia lied through her teeth.
Picking up the tiny glass lens, Leticia cautiously and slowly moved her finger toward Melanie's beautiful eyes.
Only at this moment did Leticia have the chance to carefully observe Melanie's eyes—these crimson pupils that could be called a treasure of the world.
Melanie's eyes weren't just a plain red; they were like gemstones, giving off a crystal-clear feeling. The red was neither too dark nor too light, complementing her perfect appearance.
"Calm down, calm down," Leticia encouraged herself internally.
"You're a bit nervous," Melanie noted, sensing Leticia's odd behavior.
"Don't talk."
"Oh."
Leticia let out a slow breath. She was afraid that if she were even slightly careless, she would leave an irreparable scratch on those beautiful eyes.
Perhaps she should have asked Xue'er to do it? A thought popped into Leticia's mind.
But she immediately dismissed the idea. This was a matter between her and Melanie; what would it look like to have Xue'er come and help?
She was the Demon King, after all; could a mere little glass lens really stump her?
That's right, it couldn't stump her.
Gritting her teeth, Leticia stopped overthinking it and pressed her hand down.
"Whew, perfect." Having successfully put the contact lens on Melanie, Leticia raised her right hand and wiped her forehead.
She felt that this experience had been more challenging than the toughest battle she had ever fought.
"Is it done?" Melanie blinked. The sensation of a foreign object in her right eye made her feel slightly uncomfortable.
"It's done. Weren't you afraid just now that I might slip and hurt your eye?"
"I wasn't," Melanie said as she sat up and patted Leticia's head. "I trust your confidence."
Leticia, who should have reacted violently to this action, appeared incredibly docile at this moment. She lowered her head and asked in a voice that was barely audible, "What if my confidence isn't worth your trust?"
"At least for now, it is worth my trust." Melanie didn't answer Leticia's question. "By the way, keep this book for now."
She took out the "Research on Age of Gods Magic" she had just retrieved that morning from her clothes.
"Eh?"
"Let's call it my intuition. It's safer with you than it is with me," Melanie explained. The feeling that Luca gave her wasn't good. "To be able to use such powerful magic, Luca must be a Demon."
"Her appearance was too coincidental; I suspect she has some connection to this book."
"But I am also a Demon."
"But I trust you." Melanie looked straight at Leticia and said without hesitation, "You are worthy of my trust."
