Chapter 37 - Chapter 37. Sorry, You Trusted the Wrong Person

"What did Malanie come here for this time?" After Melanie left with the soy sauce, Luna looked at Leticia, who was standing at the entrance with a complicated expression, and asked in a low voice.

Leticia lowered her head and remained silent for a long time. She gripped the book that Melanie had returned to her hands tightly; this book was no longer just a simple book now; it was imbued with Melanie's trust.

"What would happen if I handed it over to Kira?" Leticia thought to herself. Perhaps Melanie would be incredibly disappointed in her judgment and would never have anything to do with her, Leticia, ever again.

Ah, no, that's not right. It wouldn't be "never having anything to do with her," it would be her coming over directly with that sword of hers to seek revenge.

What should she actually do?

Her fingers rubbed against the pages of the book over and over again; Leticia was conflicted.

She was wondering if she should betray the trust Melanie had placed in her.

The answer was obvious.

"Luna... do you have a way to contact Kira?" With a snap, she closed the book and turned to ask Luna.

Hmph, she was a Demon King, after all. Being timid and hesitant because of an enemy's trust was not her style.

Damn you, Melanie. I, Leticia, will show you through my actions that you trusted the wrong person.

Luna's eyes widened; Leticia's question left her unable to find an answer for a moment.

"This..."

"Is there a problem?"

"I'm afraid only the Four Heavenly Kings would know of Her Highness Kira's whereabouts. My information channels cannot reach such classified secrets yet," Luna said, lowering her head in shame. "But I will do my best to find out."

"Mm, the sooner the better." Leticia paced slowly into the living room with her hands behind her back.

"Does Your Majesty wish to meet with Her Highness Kira?"

"Certainly not! If that girl knew where I was, would I have any peaceful days left?" Hearing this, Leticia, who had just had a grave expression, immediately changed her demeanor. "I just want to give her a little gift."

A little gift she had been seeking for many years.

Rendered speechless by Leticia's exquisite skill in changing expressions, Luna nodded helplessly. "Yes."

...

Just as Leticia and Luna were plotting downstairs, the atmosphere in the York household upstairs was exceptionally eerie.

When Yori took the soy sauce bottle from her sister's hand, who was covering her right eye, she was surprised to discover that her sister was actually crying.

"Sister, what's wrong?" Yori quickly pulled out a few tissues to wipe the tears from her sister's face.

Could it be that Quinn made her sister sad? But if that were the case, why was her sister only crying from her right eye?

Is it even possible for one eye to cry while the other doesn't?

"It's nothing, I just borrowed something from Quinn." Melanie shook her head calmly. Anyway, she only needed to take a look, and after that, she would be able to take this little gadget out of her eye.

She would have to tell Leticia later that it was better not to make things like this. Having such a dense magical aura surging so close to her eyeball was really quite uncomfortable.

"Is Sister Melanie okay?" Luca noticed the abnormality in the kitchen, so she stood up and walked over.

Melanie immediately moved her hand away from her right eye; this opportunity was absolutely perfect!

The moment she saw Melanie's right eye, Luca instinctively wanted to cover her face with her hand. Her intuition told her that being seen by Melanie's right eye would have very bad consequences.

But her reaction speed was still too slow.

Melanie had already seen her, the real her.

The "See-Through" produced by Leticia was indeed powerful; the disguise magic that Melanie had been helpless against just a moment ago was now melting away like ice and snow.

Of course, this magic only lost its effect for Melanie; what Yori saw was still the disguised appearance of Luca.

"So that's how it is..." Melanie covered her right eye again; the conflict between the two magics made her eye feel even more uncomfortable.

Fortunately, she had already seen Luca's face, the face that was almost identical to the girl downstairs.

Luca, is it?

Who would have thought that these two sisters would appear here at the same time.

If she were to make a move now, what price would she have to pay to keep these two sisters here forever?

Melanie calculated in her heart that she only needed a few moves to kill the girl in front of her, but Leticia would be a variable afterward.

Having not seen her for many years, Leticia's strength had become even greater. If she were to fight to the death, she would likely drag her down to perish together.

Moreover, the aftermath of the battle between them would destroy most of Central City, and countless innocents would die in this great war; this was something Melanie could not accept.

"I'm going back downstairs." Since she had already seen Luca's true face, there was no need to keep wearing this thing in her eye. Melanie intended to go down now and have Leticia help her remove the "lens."

But to Melanie's surprise, Luca stepped forward and blocked her path first.

"Sister Melanie must be uncomfortable from wearing contact lenses. As it happens, I have experience with removing them," Luca said to Melanie with a smile. "There's no need to trouble the neighbor downstairs."

"Ah..." Melanie nodded blankly. This Kira and Leticia really were like a pair of sisters; look at that confident demeanor, it was practically identical.

It's just that Leticia's confidence was faked, while she didn't know if Kira's confidence was real or not.
