Chapter 34 - Chapter 34. My Sister's Friend

"I've troubled you for two days in a row, Leticia." Under the setting sun, the black-haired girl smiled and said to another black-haired girl beside her.

Yori smiled somewhat shyly, "Little Lu, you just transferred here, and the teacher asked me to take good care of you. It's what I should do."

On Monday, a transfer student arrived in Yori's class. Because Yori lived close to the transfer student's home, the teacher assigned her the task of looking after the transfer student.

And this girl named Luca also left a very good impression on Yori during their interactions over the past few days; otherwise, Yori wouldn't have invited Luca to her home as a guest.

"My sister wasn't home yesterday, so I refuse to believe she won't be home today." Yori said indignantly. She absolutely had to introduce Little Lu to her sister, so her sister could meet her friend.

Luca put her hands in her pockets, a little amused by Yori's soliloquy, "Actually, there's no need to be so rushed, right?"

"My sister always says I'm not learning well and don't even have friends at school. Now I have friends, let's see what she can say." Yori was beaming; her sister's words a few days ago had made the little girl quite indignant.

And now, she had made a good friend, and could thoroughly'slap her sister's face' (prove her wrong).

"Haha, so that's how it is..." Luca's expression almost broke. This girl Yori was really a bit childish.

"Hmph, hmph, with a good girl like you, Little Lu, my sister definitely won't be able to say anything. Oh, right, after meeting my sister, I'll take you to see Quinn." Yori grew more excited as she spoke, "Quinn even sided with my sister before. They're both bad people."

As they spoke, the two had already reached the entrance of Yori's apartment building. Yori took out her access card and swiped it on the main door. With a crisp 'beep,' the glass door slowly opened.

They took the elevator up to their home on the sixth floor, and Yori excitedly opened the room door once more.

"Sister, I've brought a friend home!" The exact same line as yesterday, but this time, there was finally someone in the living room.

Melanie was holding the book that Leticia had deemed largely useless, carefully flipping through it page by page. Hearing her sister's voice, she looked up in the direction of the sound.

"Welcome... Hmm?" Melanie's eyes narrowed. The girl behind her sister... seemed to be using some kind of magic to alter her appearance.

Magic... Is this girl not human?

Although there were already quite a few non-human races in the human world, the presence of a non-human beside her own sister still surprised Melanie.

"Sister, her name is Luca, she's my new good friend." Yori pulled Luca in front of Melanie and introduced her proudly.

"Oh, Luca... It's nice to meet you." Melanie subconsciously closed the book in her hand, placing it face down on the table. "I didn't expect Leticia to make such a good friend."

"Sister, what kind of talk is that? If I want to make friends, they'll come in droves." Yori said confidently, "Sister, you and Little Lu sit here first, I'm going to prepare dinner."

She had already bought some groceries on the way home, so today, they could eat at home.

"Okay." Melanie nodded, then continued to stare at Luca's face.

This disguise magic was quite profound; she might need some time to see through the girl's true appearance.

Luca sat down next to Melanie somewhat cautiously. Yori's sister gave off a completely different vibe from Yori.

If Yori was like a babbling brook in the mountains, Melanie was like the ten-thousand-year-old unmelting ice on the Heavenly Mountains.

Cold, so cold that those who approached her involuntarily shivered.

Luca's intuition even told her that she might have already been seen through by this white-haired girl.

"You... are called Luca?" Melanie looked at Luca for a long time before finally speaking, "Leticia has excellent taste."

Luca's expression gradually became serious. She didn't know if there was a hidden meaning in Melanie's words, but judging by the aura this girl exuded, Luca believed that what Melanie had just said had another meaning.

"Yes, Leticia is a very good girl, I like her very much." Luca could only answer Melanie's question with relatively conservative words.

"Don't be so nervous, I don't eat people." Melanie tried hard to put on a kind expression, but due to some issues, her expression... became somewhat 'nuclear-kind' (a pun implying a terrifying kindness).

This made Luca's body even stiffer. She was now considering how to escape.

This white-haired person is so terrifying, even more terrifying than her previous sister.

"However, as an elder sister, I still need to vet the people around my younger sister." Melanie rubbed her face, barely managing to change her 'nuclear-kind' expression back to her usual poker face. "Miss Luca, who is not human, are you approaching Leticia with ulterior motives?"

"Regarding that, I can assure you, I have no ill intentions towards Yori."
