CHAPTER 17: AGENT CHEN
"What am I going to do?" I whispered to myself, pacing slightly. "I don't know what to do… I don't even know who to reach out to."
I walked back into the office, my steps unsteady. I began ransacking through all the files on my desk, flipping papers in a hurry until I found what I was looking for.
"There… the number," I muttered under my breath.
I dialed it immediately, pressing the phone tightly to my ear. It rang—but it wasn't connecting.
"Come on… come on," I said impatiently, tapping my foot.
Frustrated, I quickly dialed Agent Chen's number.
"Pick up… you said you would always pick up," I said anxiously.
The phone kept ringing. No answer.
I pulled it away from my ear, staring at the screen in disbelief. "You promised," I said quietly, my voice breaking slightly.
Right now, I didn't even know who to trust anymore. Not Dominic. Not Agent Chen. No one.
"I can't believe any of them," I whispered, shaking my head.
