CHAPTER 023: THE FIRST MOVE
"That's Agent Chen."
Dominic doesn't say anything for three full seconds.
I watch him watch the screen, and I see the exact moment he decides what to do with what he's seeing.
"Don't move on her yet," he says finally. His voice is controlled in the specific way that means he's furious.
"I wasn't going to," I reply quietly.
We keep watching.
Chen approaches the decoy location. No tactical gear. Civilian clothes. Dark jacket. No visible weapon.
"She came light," Dominic mutters.
"Too light," I say. "She's not expecting resistance."
She walks like someone who already knows what's inside and is checking a box rather than conducting an investigation.
The second vehicle stays back. Two people in the front seats. Neither moves.
"Support team?" Dominic asks.
"Maybe," I say. "Or witnesses."
Chen reaches the entrance and pauses.
Then she does something that makes me lean forward.
"Wait," I whisper.
She looks up.
Directly at the hidden camera.
