CHAPTER 020: THE MESSAGE INSIDE THE SILENCE
Dominic and I opened the parcel carefully.
Inside, there was only one thing.
A photograph.
"That's it?" I murmured, frowning slightly. "Just a photograph?"
Dominic didn't respond immediately. He took it out and placed it on the table between us.
Now it sat there—untouched.
Neither of us reached for it.
My eyes stayed fixed on it, my breath slowly growing uneven.
"My mother…" I whispered under my breath.
Dominic glanced at me. "What?" he asked.
"She's in the photograph," I said quietly.
He leaned forward slightly, studying it more closely. "And I'm in it too," he added.
I nodded faintly. "Yes… you are."
I swallowed hard, my gaze scanning every detail.
"That place…" I continued, my voice tightening. "It's the same parking structure where someone tried to shoot me three weeks ago."
Dominic's expression darkened. "Are you sure?" he asked.
"I'm very sure," I replied, my eyes dropping to the corner of the photograph.
