Two Months Later. (Current Time)
I've spent the last two months here with her learning about things that I didn't really expect. She knew I was vampire from the moment she saw me in the streets but yet she helped me.
She's been teaching me about the humans a bit, trying to help me better understand their hatred for us.
All I've come to learn is that they hate our ancestors more than anything else. But why can't they understand that we aren't the same as them?
We stayed away from them for a long time... Even going as far as finding alternatives to feed instead of relying on human blood.
My path is determined at this point though; finding a way to get strong enough to push back against them... To give my kind a chance to come back.
It'll be a path of violence, but it might be one I'm willing to take.
"Do you think you'll wage a war against the different capitals?" Mel asks with a curious tone.
"I don't really know who I can blame for the creation of vampire hunters. I need to find the main source or main location of them to be able to make a move," I respond while scratching my chin.
"Most capitals believe in having vampire hunters so I'm sure the guilds exist within each place," Mel says calmly.
It'll take ages to get rid of them if that is the case. Capitals are already huge to begin with and I don't really know which one is the best to start with.
I've never had to consider war with humans in the past but now I know what must be done. I still have a sword, blood can still give me strength, and there's something special about my family.
Mom always told me that, I just need to find out what it is.
"Precisely why I can't attack every capital. Aren't you a bit worried about this? I'm planning to fight back against your kind," I respond with a bit of confusion in my voice.
"We constantly take, take, take. I don't think there's been a time where we give back to the people we take from," Mel says with sadness in her voice.
"So you don't think what I'm planning is wrong?" I question.
"I think killing of any kind is wrong but they had no problem doing it to your kind," She answers without hesitation.
Am I monster? Thinking back about what happened at the manor... I killed those humans without feeling anything. No sadness, no regret, nothing.
I killed them with rage and then nothing came out of it. It felt like squashing a bug that crawls into the kitchen. Wouldn't that mean that I'm incapable of feeling regret towards the killings?
Shake. Shake.
After shaking my head I leave the thoughts behind for the time being.
"I'll try to keep my bloodshed minimal for the time being until I can figure out the proper way to eliminate my problem," I assure her.
"I appreciate that, especially when you didn't even have to tell me that. You do what's best for you," Mel responds softly.
After the conversation ended I got up from the table and went to clean up. It doesn't take me very long to clean up and pack. It is probably about time I head back out into the world.
My sword is still in one piece, I haven't been injured, and everything I need is packed.
I did decide to leave the medicine here since there isn't much of a use for it, not for me at least.
"Do you ever think you'll come back here?" Mel asks with a curious look on her face.
"Maybe when it is all over," I answer calmly.
"Then I wish you luck," Mel says with a small smile.
"Thanks," I reply before turning around.
I didn't get too close to her during the 3 months that I spent here but I did learn a lot. She's probably the first friend I ever made that is human, what a rare occurrence.
Humans and vampires being friends, I'd be laughed at if my father knew. Not because it is bad, but because it isn't like me.
My sister or even Lukas might be more likely to make friends with a human before I ever did, but this is different. She saved me from a potentially bad situation and even brought me back here.
That felt like a friend to me.
With that my journey finally begins. I don't really have a clear indicator on where to begin so I'll just head for the first capital I can find.
Having been in that manor most of my life, exploring could do me some good. I'll enjoy the scenery for a bit until I reach one of the capitals.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when I find them. I'll definitely need to be a lot stronger by the time I start facing these hunters.
The ones I fought at the manor must've just been grunts since they didn't have crazy skill to them. They just relied on their numbers to handle us which isn't smart.
Not that I can complain since I ended up killing a few and escaping in the process.
A Few hours of walking through the woods go by...
I end up reaching a small cave that just barely goes off from my path a bit. It doesn't look very interesting but I can see a few packs sitting outside the entrance.
People clearly went inside looking for whatever treasure that could be waiting in there.
As I consider walking past the cave I hear a sword get ripped out from its sheath.
"You were going to steal our stuff, weren't you?!" A man shouts with anger.
I just barely turn my head to face the man who's shouting at me. He doesn't look old in the slightest, maybe around my age? 14-15 years old with some light armor on.
Adventurers? I didn't think they truly existed since times have been changing and they were just rumors. I guess being outside the manor will be a lot more exciting than I expected.
