"Dante, Dante," A familiar voice calls out my name.
I look around for a moment as I realize the shop is empty besides Lia. The chance of someone knowing me and finding me here is very low.
Wipe. Wipe.
After wiping my eyes I realize I'm back in the manor again... My mother is standing alongside me, just like the last time I was with her.
"Dante we have to find Astaria! She needs our help," Mome pleas.
"Then we shouldn't waste any time, let's go," I respond before walking ahead of her.
I didn't think much about the events that occurred during my time with Mel but now they are coming back to me. Why is it happening now?
That is something I need to figure out since it isn't adding up.
After a few moments we end up outside of Astaria's room... Where she lays dead on the floor. Mom begins to cry before rushing towards her, only to get shot in the head.
BANG!!!!!
Her body hits the ground and this time I feel it all hit me at once.
"They're never coming back Dante," A voice echoes around me.
THUD!
My legs give out as I fall to my knees; left to sit there and stare at the two of them. Both of their bodies lifeless...
Anger, sadness, regret. All of those feelings course through me like a wave as I sit here and really think about the day it happened. My hands are shaking now on top of it all, but yet I can't understand why I never felt it in the moment.
SLAM!!!
I break a portion of the ground after slamming my fists into it.
Why couldn't I just use this rage to kill all of the bastards attacking my family... My home!!! Instead I ran away without ever finding my brother or my father again.
They're all gone now though.
Yet out of my rage I still ended up friending a human instead of tearing them apart like they deserve. Isn't it wrong to punish those who didn't do a thing in this.
Then again, humans didn't look at us any different than they did the older generations. We were hunted just the same as our ancestors... And without any mercy on top of it all.
"Dante," My mother calls out.
I look up slightly to see her standing before me.
"I raised you to be a good person. That is why you don't just needlessly kill the humans," Mom explains with a smile.
"But they killed us without any justification," I respond with tears streaming down my face.
"That's even more of a reason why we need to do better than them," Mom says while wiping away some of my tears.
"They killed you. They killed Astaria, and I'm sure Dad was killed along with Lukas," I reply while looking back down towards my fists.
Kindness is more of a weakness. I don't think I should look towards the human kindly anymore. It was dumb of me to expect anything different from them just because one saved me.
It was probably just a way to understand me better before stabbing me in the back.
Plus this damn human capital can't possibly be filled with people who disagree with hunters. They would've stopped hunting us ages ago if it was really true.
POW!!!
POW!!!!
I punch the wall a few times before coming back to my senses.
"Dante you don't want to let rage consume everything. Please don't go down this path," Mom begs with sadness in her voice.
"I won't just let what they did go away. I'll build a capital for our people and I'll make sure the humans feel what true pain is," I respond while standing back up.
"Dante—
"I'm not going to back down from this! I lost all of you! This isn't a discussion, especially not with whatever you really are," I cut her off with my shouting.
Sticking to what I originally set out to do is the only way I'm going to be able to make things right. Killing humans, building our own home filled with our people, and making sure they don't come near us again.
Mel is probably some spy for the hunters anyway so I won't see her again.
Shake! Shake!
Everything suddenly disappears as I open my eyes to the sight of Lia standing in front of me with her arms on me.
"Is something wrong?" I question with a bit of curiosity.
"I've been trying to get your attention for a little while now," Lia responds before letting out a sigh.
"Again, is something wrong?" I ask with more of a serious tone now.
"I heard horses enter the town so I don't think we're alone here anymore," Lia answers while keeping her voice down.
I doubt people would just come to this town for fun, this has to be those dumbass kids. Regardless of who it is... They will die if they try to come near us, especially right about now.
I'm not really in the mood for keeping people alive, especially after everything I just remembered.
Humans are filth that I need to just wipe out from the face of the world.
"Let's just kill them all then." A sinister voice says.
My eyes dart around the room and then quickly towards the front door.
I'll kill them regardless of whoever just said that but I still need to be smart about everything since I'm not the strongest yet. Strength will be needed if I want to wipe out the hunters that plague the world.
"Take some of my blood just in case," Lia says quietly.
"Good idea," I reply while keeping my voice low.
I dig my teeth into the side of her neck gently and drink some blood, quickly feeling the surge of everything again. My whole body is starting to feel invigorated once again so I'm more than ready to handle this.
After a moment of drinking her blood I move away from her back and wipe my mouth.
"Thank you. I'll do whatever it takes to keep us from dealing with problems," I assure her with a polite tone.
"I trust you, at least for now I definitely do," Lia replies before pulling out her sword.
We'll see what happens next.
