Chapter 11 - Consistent Problems

I make my way over to the door and slightly peek out to see who is here with us. After looking around for a few moments I notice a few people wearing cloaks to conceal their faces.

It doesn't appear to be the people from before but this is actually a lot worse for us. They could potentially be hunters... An enemy that I didn't expect to see so soon after leaving Mel.

Hunters or not I'll probably have to kill them. I don't know how strong or skilled these ones are but that is a risk worth taking.

They'd track us down later on if I don't.

My hand lingers above the hilt of my sword as my gaze remains locked on the people outside.

There's about four of them so if I can just be quick enough, I'll be able to kill them all. Speed is the key to dealing with consistent problems.

Lia might even lend a hand with fighting back against these people since she already has her sword drawn. I just don't know what the chances are of me running into a high ranking hunter.

But the time for thinking right now is over.

I push open the door and rush towards the people, my sword in hand as I get to them in seconds.

SLASH!!!!

Within an instant I swing my sword upwards, slashing across the first persons chest. All of the others seem to be shocked as they quick step back and draw their swords.

The person in front of me stumbles for a second before drawing their sword as well, even after taking a slash to the chest.

"Who the hell is this guy?!" Someone shouts from my right.

"I don't know but he is choosing to attack us!" Another person shouts back.

My eyes darting around to each one that I see, trying to analyze when they might strike.

Footsteps start to rush towards me as they all begin to come for me; The moment they start to get close I can see a blade go through one person's chest.

"I chose to join you so I won't leave you to handle everything on your own," Lia says with a serious tone.

"Gahhh. It hurts!!!" The man cries as Lia pulls the blade out.

THUD!

His body hits the floor as he clings to me his chest, blood slowly forming around him as the others continue to rush towards me.

"Foolish to ignore the attack from behind," I say with a calm tone.

CLANG!! CLANG!!!!

Our swords begin to clash, trading blows every time. Footsteps are still running towards me from behind... Probably his other companion.

Within an instant I hear another body hit the ground before focusing back on the man in front of me.

At this point Lia is making me look bad with how fast she's handling the others. I'll just have to end this already so I can prove I'm not weak.

I parry his next attack and swing my sword down across his chest, scattering blood across the ground. He stumbles back for a second before regaining his footing.

"I should've known you were a vampire," He says softly while keeping himself from falling over.

"F*ck this!!" Another person shouts before starting to run.

SLICE!!!

I cut across the man's throat in front of me before quickly turning towards the direction of the person running.

Ba-dum. Ba-dum. Ba-dum.

My heart is racing with a bit of excitement from this... The thrill of hunting someone, a human. In a couple of seconds I find myself right on top of them, my hands gripping onto their shoulders, stopping them in place.

"Please let me go..." They plea.

Without any hesitation I dig my fangs into their throat.

It isn't as gentle as it is with Lia, blood spills out from the neck a bit as the let out groans of pain. Being able to drink so freely is a rare occasion; Especially being able to drink as much as I need from a single being.

After a minute I finally rip my fangs out for them to fall onto the ground.

"It hurts so much..." They cry as they hold onto their neck.

Still alive after all that? I guess I didn't drink as much as I hoped. I'll just have to use my sword to finish the job which isn't a big deal in the first place.

STAB!!!!!

I drive my sword right through their heart, killing them within a few moments. It is a shame that they were all human or maybe they could've lived.

BA-DUM. BA-DUM.

My heart begins to race even more as my vision turns red from the power coursing through my veins. This is the first time in a long time that I've been able to properly feed like this.

It makes me feel like I need more... To kill even more people.

"Cough... Cough..." someone on the ground begins to hack up some blood.

Immediately I find myself standing in front of the person who coughed.

"Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is truly unfortunate. I guess this is how you humans would've justified it," I speak with a mocking tone.

STAB!!!!

I drive my sword into yet another human heart before ripping it out and cleaning off the blade. I also notice that Lia doesn't seem to be phased by this in the slightest which is good.

"I'd say we have to take care of the problem," Lia says with a calm tone.

"I don't think any of them are alive. You did good," I respond with a positive tone.

"I'm sure they weren't good people. I haven't really met any good humans myself," Lia says while looking down at their bodies.

"Because I truly don't believe they exist," I reply with disappointment in my voice.

Mel could've just been using me for information all that time... There's no telling if that is the case or not. I just know humans don't change.

This capital feels like it is about to be a load of crap with no people who actually hate hunters.

I've got my focus back so it doesn't matter anymore. I'll kill them without thinking, gives me no chance of making a mistake at that point.
